    The Werrington fly under is for freight trains which can consist of 30 container wagons heading to and from Felixstowe via the Joint line through Spalding. These move considerably slower than a 2 car DMU on services to and from Lincoln which mainly use the up slow reversible line.

    Always worth a trip to Peterborough for the variety of operators and there dedicated forms of motive. Excellent as always from Boogies trains🤓🏍️

    Hi Boogie ... excellent, informed presentation as is rapidly becoming your standard! .. Well done !! .. Nice to see the Stadlers working for their keep ... (albeit often late!) ... Would be great if Wherrington crossover could illiminate some of those tortuous crossovers? ... Thanks, as usual. AB

    Darren Weatherall a.k.a. MrDeltic15 uses the footbridge north of Peterborough quite often. So far it is the best way of keeping up with the progress of the dive under works. The location is fairly easy to identify from Google Earth. I liked your Part 2 from yesterday. There are some eccentric but refreshing sequences/consists/rakes to be seen on this part of the ECML particularly on the Spalding diversions. Richard Chalkin has some interesting progs. but not as informative as yours although he seems to be able to display the scheduled timings of the passing traffic and whether it is ahead or behind schedule. Some poetic license?licence there, I think. TC

    Thanks again. We shall miss the 170s in East Ansglia when they move. They are quieter than the Stadlers and ride better on their rubber doughnuts. TC.

    Nice to see ACE Cultural taking 'space' in front of your program. You may want to explain to some that it is Werrington and it is a dive under. The Stadlers are proving that even the Swiss have trouble getting kit to work fresh out of the box or so it seems for us in Norwich. TC

      Hi Tom. I have no control over the ads at the start of the video. TH-cam put it there in real time each time the video is watched based on what TH-cam know about the viewer. I intend to visit Werrington once the dive under is in use. I think there are a couple of footbridges that will give a view, although I might need to borrow a step ladder to see over the top.

    Great Northern only operate to Peterborough in the peak i believe,so if your travelling from Huntingdon-Hitchin,your kinda stuck if thameslink break down or go on strike

    Excellent video Boogies as always. Loved the variety of trains and operators on offer. Would have been great to see rarely spotted Class 365s in action but may be some other time. Do you know if GN use them for any other routes other than Peak time KGX to Peterborough?

    A very informative and interesting video however would it be possible to put the written explanations in black rather than blue to make them somewhat more legible especially for older viewers.

      Hi Roger. I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed the video. The captions are a very difficult subject. The problem is trying to achieve a consistent contrast with an ever changing background. After much experimentation I settled on blue with a white border. A single colour, no matter how garish, tends to disappear intermittently. The blue seems to be the least susceptible to this and the white border mitigates most of the remaining problem. I have seen other people using a solid white background strip with black script. Unfortunately my production software, Power Director, does not support this facility. My only suggestion is to pause the video so that you can read the captions. You can then watch it through a second time without stopping if you want to just enjoy the visuals.

    Nice to see the EMR Class 158, Class 153 & Class 156 still being used and Crosscountry Class 170. And Greater Anglia Class 755 Stadler Flirt Bi-mode trains operating the Norwich-Peterborough & Ipswich-Peterborough services.
    And Great Northern operating stopper and semi-fast services from Peterborough to London Kings Cross and Thameslink services to Farringdon, City Thameslink, Horsham, Gatwick Airport and other destinations via London Bridge & East Croydon. With using their Class 387, Class 365 and Class 700 units.

      Indeed. Unfortunately I wasn't there during rush hour so there were no GN trains about. Strange to think that all the off peak stopping trains go through the City Widened Lines these days.

      Hi Raymond. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think the idea is that coupling and uncoupling of shorter units is to be avoided. The full length is needed for most of the day in Central London. Flexible working and leisure travel means that trains into London are busy all morning and the afternoon rush starts at about 3.

    What does 1R78 mean?

    • @BoogiesTrains
      @BoogiesTrains  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's the train reporting number. Not unique across the system by any means but unique within the local area. 1 means express passenger. R will mean something locally with regards to destination and direction. The signaller will know instinctively. The last two digits are the train. Go to Traksy and search for trains with this ID and you will learn more about how it works.

    The 156's are in better looking condition than the 158's. Bet emr can't wait to get rid of them and get the 170's in

      156s are starting to leave now, EMR are phasing them out and replacing them with 170s. The 158s are staying for now.

    How can a train go from Ely to liverpool lime street with two coaches. That's longer than transpenine express.

    • @BoogiesTrains
      @BoogiesTrains  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whole journey is Norwich to Liverpool. Not sure that many go the whole way but I think it is very busy over some sections of the route.

      They run as two car between Norwich and Nottingham, at Nottingham two more coaches are added for Nottingham to Liverpool Lime Street. And then the same done in reverse.
