As always I thank you again for the shout-out Steve! That wall of CRTs is easily the coolest thing I've ever done with my collection, it was a monstrous task to plan all of that but seeing the joy it brought everyone was absolutely worth it. It feels like my years of collecting these things all cumulated into that display for sure! I'm definitely going to be at the 2025 Retro World Expo as well, this time around I plan on fully documenting the construction of that CRT wall so I can show how I did all of that on my channel. And hopefully at next year's show my wiring won't be such a rat's nest 😆
I recently found a KV-27V20 that was already RGB mux modded. I absolutely love it. It is in beautiful condition. The colors are super vibrant. Nice thick scanlines. It is now my 4th CRT I have added to my collection. The fun part about CRTs, the displays always have their own unique charm to them no matter the input.
I'm pretty satisfied with my Sony Trinitron KV-27S42, which I picked up for $20 on Facebook marketplace in 2021. As someone who only used RF back in the day, I'm loving S-Video. My Trinitron has some geometry issues - mainly warped corners, but nothing terrible or distracting when gaming. I did some tweaking in the service menu - the sharpness and colors are fantastic. I would prefer a 20" screen, but I don't think that size Trinitron comes equipped with S-Video.
Cool to see all those CRTs actually in use! Literally don’t make them like they used to. You can always have more CRTs, but I’m glad I’ve got my collection of them.
As much as it sucks that this hobby is getting ridiculously expensive, more money in it means more incentive for more people to learn to fix them themselves, me included. Got a 8041q for $100 with the black and white issue and was able to fix it. Much more affordable to go that route or save from recyclers (although that's not really easy to do with PVMs, consumer tvs are still pretty easy to find for free). Would love a bigger PVM but the risk in shipping is too dangerous and the only ones I found locally over the years have been way out of my range unfortunately.
i remember pvms and bvms were ultra expensive or hard to get back in the day.. to see them for these prices after a mod or refurb is actually in value. i'd buy because its def worth it, esp if youre a deep collector.

Hi. Anyone know how to get rid of the rainbow effect from the corner of a CRT? Got this maaaaassive one I’d like to fix or get fixed. Love us some CRTs! Peace!-)
How is he out-pricing customers if he sold ever single CRT at the show? Do you not understand how the free market works? Do you also not understand that there’s a difference between a beat up consumer set on the corner and a professional monitor that has been serviced and adjusted for peak performance and longevity? Cheap CRTs can still be had. But don’t expect them to be pro quality and given hours of service by a tech. This is simple.
Why is nobody fabricating good CRTs nowadays? I know there's one company doing this, but it costs the same as a Sony PVM. Lol, we need something accessible.
@@sixtyfps only one company is Actually doing it, Called Thomas Electronics. They do not sell to the general public and only make and repair CRTs for Aviation use
I've played on many CRTs in my lifetime and don't miss any of them. Anyone who pays a lot of money for CRT nowadays needs her head checked. There are so many ways now to play original games and original hardware on modern screens while looking great. Modifications, upscalers, clone hardware you name it. There's many ways to play. A CRT is totally unnecessary and a downgrade compared to modern options.
CRT TVs aren't getting ridiculously expensive. CRT TVs got ridiculously cheap! We just got used to these low prices and are shocked when their prices go back up. When will CRT prices Plateau? When they get expensive enough again to justify reproduction.
Bro you deleted comments that weren't even directed at you, I literally stuck an @ in the comment at who I was responding to. I used to really like this channel but you've changed. Duces. ✌️
It's supply and demand. Supplies are forever decreasing and people are getting back into CRTs so demand is only going to go up. It's either free on a curb or a $300 'vintage gaming tv'. My suggestion for folks is ESTATE SALES. You wont find PVMs but you'll get some decent stuff from the 90s if you're just looking for a basic gaming tv.

Hey there… uh… yah got any CRT’s for 30 dollars? Eh heh heh… 😢😂
I'm not buying one, unless it serviced, recapped and low hours for $10.
Why is nobody fabricating good CRTs nowadays? I know there's one company doing this, but it costs the same as a Sony PVM. Lol, we need something accessible.
What a bizarre claim. No one is manufacturing CRTs now.
@@sixtyfps only one company is Actually doing it, Called Thomas Electronics. They do not sell to the general public and only make and repair CRTs for Aviation use
@JayTheComputerGuy I stand corrected! That's fascinating.
@JayTheComputerGuy that's really sad 😢
Not gonna happen.
You wont find PVMs but you'll get some decent stuff from the 90s if you're just looking for a basic gaming tv.
pvms are to expensive to heavy and not worth it
I got a 46 inch CRT pal converted to work on ntsc power
Happy you like it, but to me they're literal garbage
