They were going straight to the capital because when the AI decided to attack, the other cities weren't founded yet. I've been noticing the AI decision making is pretty set in stone once it wants to do something. Same reason you can delay or prevent an attack if the majority of the hexes they want to start a war from are already occupied. Also I too noticed the aggression level from the AI has increased since the last patch, same with barbs. Rather annoying but meh. It is what it is.
Don't forget about the cool Efjusguisikaliiiias achievement. You have the perfect setup to get that one.

Well I wouldn't know this because I'm guessing the new patch has rendered me playing on my PC to nothingness. Every time I turn it on now, it crashes. So I've been playing on Xbox and working my way back up in difficulty because it appears the Xbox AI has a bigger boost and seem to be better in every way

After watching you play on Diety, I've been able to move up from playing Warlord. Now I can play Prince and King if I got my game face on. I've never played on such a high difficulty in any Civ game before. Thanks for the tips man.

So I had a game where I found that natutal wonder in the midgame as Inca, and since Hungary was too scared to settle tundra I colonized that spot for a coal mine on an adjacent tile plus 5 terrace farms. I had a 10 food tile, an 8 production tile and all the reat had 6-8 food and 3-5 production. That city outgrew my capitol in like 20 turns. It is the single most op wonder in existence.

It is indeed the best tundra wonder in existence, perhaps even in the game.
There's actually a kinda crazy industrial zone next to Shizuoka here. If my math is correct it's +2 from resources, +2 from the aqueduct, +1 from mines, +2 from planned districts and has another tile you could put a district in for +1. That means it's a total of a potential +8 without any real city planning, which is nice as hell.

Getting the war going seems fine. You have iron to upgrade to swordsmen in 5 turns so that gives you some pretty good military units.
Think I'll skip war!

it looks like early war can help if you can wipe out ottoman. Hes the only threat for a faith game plus just having him as neighbor forces you to put in decent resources to defend yourself.
Great to see you're back. If not for that wonder, that would have been the shittiest land I've ever seen. Tundra-deserts with next to no production are usually an instant reroll for me, although it might make an interesting game.

Gyro (pronounced yee-roh) is a dish where you have some kind of meat (typically sliced lamb or chicken) served ontop of pita bread with lettuce, onion, tomato and a greek yogurt and cucumber sauce;
Kebabs are believed to have originated in turkey and was what Turkish soldiers referred to skewering chunks of hunted meat on their swords before roasting those over a fire
An encampment near your spawn is not a bad thing... that's a solid source of military training and a cash reward when you clear it. Also helps to deter the ai from your area while you get established.

I'm amazed when I see you settle on the wheat like that. I'd agonise over that kind of decision for hours if it were me. I'm not saying it was wrong - You're a much better player than me! - But being able to think so far ahead and talk about districts amazes me!

The AI tile blocks when you have a map tac or when you have sent your unit to that tile. The way around that is to not use map tacs and to send your unit to a tile near or next to the one you really want and then move it into position once you arrive.

The only problem with Grapeshot is that it doesn't let you get Shells later. Crew Weapons is only helpful on the defense (though as good for that as grape shot) but it lets you get shells. Grapeshot leads to shrapnel, forcing a siege unit to focus on anti-meele.
Man, i'm just a total nub at this game but watching your videos actually helped me to understand more about the mechanics and ways to advance.

Do you think that choral music would have been a nicer synergy for a faith/culture game as Japan with their district cost/adjacency bonuses, or is feed the world just too good to pass up?
It can be really really good but I ALWAYS pick it.
Remember this famous quote from Karate Kid...I've tweaked a little. We do not train (units) to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets (hills), in competition (war): A man (Civ) confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy.
You should really consider medieval war - with the districts running, the tons of strategics and your Samurai it‘d would nicely timed. Get Pingala into cap btw - no nice cities to settle ( go warlords t. ) Rly enjoying it :)
I can’t even think about playing deity. I was playing a game as Korea and heading for a science victory on emperor. I saw montezuma was my neighbor, fast invaded him left him with one city(I took his capital) and was like whatever with him. Fast forward 200 turns later he conquers everyone..... except me. Luckily I had enough time to secure my science victory but wow what a comeback.
Great to see some more Potato vids coming our way! Really missed the landing with Kebabs or Gyros' religion icon, it should have been the one to the right of the snake, it really looks like a kebab meat skewer thingy haha.
That dish is actually called "Souvlaki". Gyros is a handful of small slices of meat, usually wrapped in tortilla (called "pita bread").

I think that asking someone to join a war then making peace within the time the person who joined cannot make peace should generate grievances toward the person asked to join the war as now they can't get out of a war they might not want to fight alone.
Strategy thought. Open to discussion.
I see slow-building monuments as a waste. They're cheap, so I generally gold-purchase them and start earning culture immediately. Use the production on things you can't buy (districts) or things you get production bonuses on (ilkum+builders, agoge+units, etc)
I would build up army and settlers. So you stay on defense but you settle everywhere you can for a growing empire. In the southern citys you can pile up your armys to keep your culture game save. Invest in more sience to stay with modern armys.... like sunzi said: The man who wants peace has to be prepared for war.
Gyros are usually made from pork meat, served with Tzatziki sauce. Kebab is traditionally made with lamb.

the housing or amenities religious pick would work well I think. choral music would make it hilarious culture gains stacked with your theatre square wheel you just described, and the wonder yields. :D

Saying "bad luck and being swarmed with barbarians and getting declared war by Ai" gave me flashbacks to a game I started a while ago, the war lasted 50 turns because I was attacked on both sides. Had 2 units to start and somehow (you know typical ai fashion) he had like 15 troops, on turn 20 btw. Yet somehow I still won and wiped him of the face of the earth gaining 2 free cities in the meantime.
Eeeeeeeeey Potato! It wasn’t until you came back that I realized how much I missed your starchy goodness!
As for the Ottofriend, I’m torn. Two war decs, the second one with insufficient military, just screams to be spanked hard. And there is the religious angle. But wiping them from the map does reduce tourism as you said. Also, you may draw un-needed ire from other nearby civs, and if you don’t want this to snowball into a domination game . . . Maybe you can just raze every city except his capital, then leave him alone and broken?
