Therefore, PM Orban is able to meet Putin and Zelensky, which no one has been able to do so. Good on him, for trying to save lives on both side of the conflict, right from the beginning in 2022. The Hungarian prime minister Orban is the only sensible leader in the whole of NATO and he deserve am award for diplomacy, independent thinking and his peace efforts.
Not so fast. He is a juncky. He has nothing to lose. Hungarians came later in Europe, sometimes in 800 AD. Since then they have been looking to expand their plot. His eyes are glued to Transilvania since this is the richer plot in natural resources. He is not alone- he goes in tandem with Austria. As you probably know, Europe is not rich in natural resources, which is the reason why they go on stealing and killing people in colonialist style. Maybe you are Hungarian, but you should know that Romanians lived in Romania from immemorial times, even before the Greeks and Romans and we have lived in these territories since. I don't think Hungarians will ever succeed
Orban seems the only one who is at least taking diplomatic activities into consideration. Hungary seems to follow its own independent policies in that respect- contrary to the rest of all European politicians. I remember Gyula Horn once making the first steps towards opening the iron curtain. Now it is Hungary again to initiate some reasonable steps in a conflict.

In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive).
Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed.
A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April?
Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time.

I disagree. Sadly, there are not a lot of men having these meetings either. It's not about gender, it's about people being indoctrinated into very particular ideologies. There are plenty of people of both sexes who would gladly advocate for diplomacy and negotiating for peace; it's just they are sadly not in positions of power.

Most of the time, instead of having an open debate with Russian officials you had "experts" on TV panels. I remember I wondered why they wouldn't invite an official. They did in Belgium and our journalists have been disrespectful dismissing their point of view. I was embarrassed.
