I was not aware the NFC connection was so easy, I went through the whole setting up the wifi and wasn't happy with how it works. With NFC it makes it easier to grab images on post online via my phone when out on location. Thnx for that.
Thanks. I was trying to connect the other way round - to phone Hotspot - which obviously didn't work. I can't, however, connect my iMac (running MacOS). It just tells me that a camera is not connected. This is even after going through all the steps and everything looks successful. Probably the latest MacOS broke the connectivity.
What about being connected to multiple apple phones at the same time? Is that possible? Also can I set the password in the camera so I don't have to generate a new one every time I connect to a new devise? Thank you for the video.
Cant get me Galaxy 6 to work. Can you start over and remove Canon Conect. I am connected but my smartphone does not show any images on camera. This is like the blinking 12:00 on the old DVD players. Very frustrating.

New camera and new Android phone (Samsung A6). NFC did not work. Through trial and error (and some screaming), I figured out I had to set up the wifi connection via the menu directives first (very bad instructions on the app - directions are oblique as to meaning of terms). Once I had that set that up, to get the NFC to function I had to switch the "NFC and Payments" button (Settings -> Connections -> NFC and Payments) off and then turn it back on to get the NFC to work.

Agreed. It's because the NFC function is only compatible with devices running Android 4.0 up to 8.0. No sign of Canon actually updating the app to work with modern phones, so we're screwed.

+Doug Gonzales Not that I am aware of, however, there is an option on Samsung phones that tells it to look for another wifi connection if the phone connects to one that is not producing an actual internet connection. You may need to turn that option off. I think it's called smart wifi or something like that. Your phone could be kicking you off of the camera's wifi connection one it determines the is no internet connection there.
may sound silly but make sure you turn on NFC on your phone. Turn NFC on on your phone and enable it like advised in the video on your camera then place the phone on the left side of the camera and it will connect. Just did it on my S7 edge and S8.
NFC doesn't work for me. NFC is on on both the phone and camera, I have the canon app installed. I touch the phone to the camera and hold it there and it doesn't work. Canon 80D and OnePlus 5.
The wifi set up on the canon app is too convoluted. And it asks me for a new password every time. Plus I've now used it with an iPad Mini 2 and an iPhone and it's so sluggish for video use it really isn't worth the effort. Is there another app that we can use instead of the Canon one?
I just wished the WiFi stayed on the camera once I leave the app, seems to switch off and I then have to return to the camera to switch it on. Bit of a pain when using the Camera 6meters away. Great vid tho ty.

Great video but demo went to a wide shot of you right at the point where you were connecting to the iphone! That was what I was wanting to see and It would have been nice to see the devices instead of you.
iPhone user here. It seems when I get connected then turn off my Camera, next time I try and start the connection, it wants a password. And every time, the camera doesn’t display the password UNLESS I wipe my settings clean. I tried writing down the password, but the camera uses a different one. I feel like a tool.
connected my S8 via NFC in 1 attempt took about 1 minute in total. Make sure NFC is turned on on your S8 too. My S8 as wifi/data on by default so i just turned NFC on and moved the s8 about touching the left side of the camera and bingo it connected.
That's so rubbish Canon .... why ??? now a days canon is just SUCKS.... from last 12 yrs i'm canon user. this video would help me, but they have disable NFC from app update. I just checked today. - Now a days canon is just doing stupidity things e.g. - other brand should stop making lenses for R systems. what rubbish, just look at sony, tamron & sigma are just focusing now a days for only sony. why canon is doing this god knows. I will be moving towards only fujifilm or Sony in future. & that future is near by now, canon u r just going to loose one more #canon lover.
