    Well done Yamaha, seems like an excellent motorcycle.
    Massive thank you to Motorcycle USA, the riders & all the manufacturers involved for the in depth comparison, great series of videos!

    Great, great job with this review guys! I only wish the Duc could have been in the mix but even without, it was great to see some outstanding riders give their opinions of the beastly bikes! Motorcycle USA proves once again to be the best bike channel on the web!

      +allcartuner I'm on a GSX-R 750 and looking to get a Liter bike, been seeing a lot of reviews on all bikes the one that stands out at the moment is the R1. Iv'e rode on a BMW S1000rr for a week or so, it was dyno tuned with full race exhaust, ECU upgrade but the s1000rr feels like it should only practical on the track.

    It would be interesting to know if you guys tested the US version with restrictions or not. And if yes, how it would have performed with the ECU flashed without restrictions. I saw videos of 2015 R1s getting +20hp after the ECU flash

    • @daithilacha1
      @daithilacha1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +LaneSplitter88The USA bikes are 20 HP down compared to those for other markets like the UK, so imagine how fast this would have been in Euro spec. I think its fair to assume that this was a US spec bike.

    Great review as always. Would've been awesome if R1M, RSV4 RF and 1299S could've join though. Would really love to know how the new ohlins electronic dampers work at race pace since you guys didn't love the BMW electronic dampers. For me, the BMW power band really improves if you would fit a race exhaust system on it, just saying. It doesn't feel so aggressive down low any more and still give you that drive and acceleration you need at race pace. Then again this is a stock test. Would also love to see a road review BTW. good stuff. well done.

    Robin. I have a 2015 r1, I have not yet flashed the ecu. I have heard that if you do this you will lose your head light and tail lights. I am in USA. Did the EU have that problem, and if it did how do you fix it so you still have head lights and tail lights.

    • @mafiahalo93
      @mafiahalo93 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      greeek777 i heard it because they did a Race Mode Flash. not really sure u have to look into it

    • @blue03r6

    • @pags1981

      I'd flash ECU using Woolich racing for results

  • @greeek777
    @greeek777 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes raceing ecu you will lose all light. But ther is a way to get them back on. You have to buy a relay. We have been working on it now for some time now. When we get it do we are thinking about selling a kit for people. Will be cheep. Have a great day.

    Is MotoUSA going to do a street shootout for these bikes as well?

    • @bertito43
      @bertito43 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      These bikes aren't made for the street.

    • @leighsa49
      @leighsa49 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** It used to win track shootouts, like 4-5yrs ago. The bike is too old now, the BMW is easily the best street bike, as it has soooo many street orientated features.(Heated grips, cruise control, etc)the ddc suspension also works great on the road at normal pace. I'm a big fan of Honda, but to say their sports bikes are outdated is putting it mildly.

    • @greeek777
      @greeek777 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I so glad yamaha went this way for there bike. If you go to the track you will love this bike!! If you ride the streets then i really don't think you will like it. It is a GP bike not comfortable on the streets. I have to say i love it!!! Track is the way to go!!!!*****

    • @DarwinAllen
      @DarwinAllen 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** the S1000RR is more of a street bike than the CBR. Honda just needs to get back in the game. Same with Suzuki. I love both brands but their liter class street bikes are very long in the tooth right now.

    • @DarwinAllen
      @DarwinAllen 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** that's true. There's something to be said for the "analog" bikes. I think abs and traction control are definitely becoming standard but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy turning both off and laying down a nice burnout :). The electronics can definitely fail and if nothing else I like knowing I can handle my bike on a rainy day or doing an emergency stop without them. And hey, the CBR is a great bike. It's all a matter of preference and $$ really. So yeah, not ribbing on your bike at all, although I would love to see the 'blade get a makeover. Maybe something cool like a V4.

    In America we always use Corrected SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) wheel HP and not "Standard" correction WHP like in Europe... Educate yourself about the difference between the 2 standard correction factors and you'll understand why Europe HP numbers are ALWAYS higher than American.
    In America we use the SAE correction because it's the only correction factor that puts all horsepower dyno test figures on a level playing field. Anyway we look at it... STD corrected WHP will always read at least 5% higher than SAE whp

    Does it matter which bike is faster? As though ANYBODY will EVER take it to its limit. Most will NEVER make a 300 reach its limit on a track. But i get it...The R1 is a beast. Have fun and be safe.

    • @H3ntaig33K
      @H3ntaig33K 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You see this isn't motorcycle.com's casual consumer testing about most bang for your buck bike. The demographic isn't aimed at most riders. They didn't put average joe on the bikes and ask his feedback because the demographic is at track racers looking for their next bike. That's why you have club racers, former AMA champions, and current national race bike riders riding these bikes in this review test.

    Watching these are reviews makes me want the R1 more than the H2! The R1 sounds like that uber bike that comes along every six years or so that flattens everything. Actually this bike has me wondering how Honda will respond. CBR's are really good but kind of boring now. Also Honda! Make a CBR300RR PLEASE

    Still hate the looks, and don't think we haven't noticed that this bike had the GYTR kit computer in it. Without, it'd have its ass kicked and with, Yamaha turns off your lights and signals.

    • @Schleberger
      @Schleberger 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve C Have you seen one in person? I hated it aswell in the pictures (bc the goofy headlights) but if you see it in person you almost don't see these lights (the round ones not the LED-stripes, those look just perfect) and it looks like an M1 with mirrors and plates.

    • @SteveC-Shaman
      @SteveC-Shaman 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Schleberger I have seen it in person and I didn't think any better of it there. Slab-sided, catfish face, chinese-cheap looking rear fairing piece with the holes through, just not feeling it.

    • @Schleberger
      @Schleberger 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Steve C Almost can't believe you. The rear looks cheap and chinese?! More like italian and a million bucks. And then the fork yoke and the tank with the cutouts look like straight from MotoGP aswell, but taste is highly subjective so no Point in arguing there i guess.

    • @SteveC-Shaman
      @SteveC-Shaman 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Schleberger You're right, there really is no point. I don't like it. The rear doesn't look Italian - I have two Italian bikes and they're a lot classier. To me, it's ugly and disjointed. Some people don't like redheads, some people like fat chicks... what can I say?

      @robinaleksanderjohannessen3442 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Schleberger Listen to this guy ^^ I got a 15 R1 (Blue) and not any picture ive seen justify the looks of it when you can walk around it. Its VERY sexy! got rid of the fender + integrated tail light, and Austin Racing GP1R exhaust. Now its LOOK and SOUNDS like a beast ! :)

    why can't they have some experienced riders doing the review...talking about the pretty girl..the cross plane crank shaft has been around since 2009 and she's talking as if this is a 2015 introduction from Yamaha...

  • @enntense
    @enntense 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    You let Yamaha equip the bike with a chip that boosted HP by 12% that isn't available to anyone yet?(Price and availability TBD)....And tested last years Aprilia..I'm not going to tell you tour business, but when a manufacturer hands you an example of their machine and it makes 12% more power than any other example using parts no one else has...Things start to stink...And as for the Aprilia, your own tester rode the new one at launch and raved about it, yet you proceeded to test the outgoing model anyway..You should have skipped it if you couldn't give a real review and comparison, as you shouldn't have bolted parts onto bikes that weren't stock.

    • @bikee4
      @bikee4 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      enntense threr would be no lights on it you dumbass if the factory race ECU was in it!

    • @enntense
      @enntense 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      bikee4 Yes because everyone knows part of optimizing the engine control unit (ECU) isn't advancing or retarding the ignition timing , adding or subtracting fuel, its..turning the lights off. Yes I see what you mean now. Your wisdom has shown me the way. Everyone knows turning the lights off gives you more horsepower, all the factories do it. Possibly you have confused ECU with ..a fuse...Free tip..I've got race ECU's in both of my bikes and miracle of miracles...the lights are on...It's amazing! Thank you however for pointing out what a dumbass I am..How does that old proverb go...best to be thought a fool?.....Well you know the rest...You've removed all doubt.

      enntense who gives a fuck? an ecu tune is what $500? most enthusiasts would get this if they wanted track performance

    • @enntense
      @enntense 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sweet! Lets put one on the BMW prior to testing next time, that way when they spin em on the dyno and it cranks out 225 hp everyone can stand around saying it's cool. That "who gives a fuck" non stock mod took the R1 from almost last place engine performance to tie with the BMW, and you can't buy it. Kind of a big deal that in reality if you buy a new R1 it's only going to make 160hp.

    • @SteveC-Shaman
      @SteveC-Shaman 9 ปีที่แล้ว
