- From 2017 to 2019 I mentored a young artist by the name of Brooke Cormier.
Brooke was the daughter of a friend… she had no formal art training… but she did have a passion for art and an amazing work ethic.
What ensued was nothing short of remarkable.
Within 5 short years Brooke has been able to accomplish what has taken me over 20 years.
She is selling her work around the world… she has over a quarter million followers on social media… and her work now commands the same prices as my paintings.
How did she accomplish this? Was she somehow “special”? … or can other artists follow her example?
That is what I will be discussing on today’s live broadcast of “Becoming A Successful Artist”.
The live show airs at 12:05 pm on TH-cam, Facebook and Twitch… and I welcome questions during the show.
I will be going live every weekday at 12:05 pm Eastern Standard Time to share my experiences, and giving my advice regarding what it takes to create a successful career as an artist.
You can watch the live episodes and replays on my TH-cam Channel at

also from South Africa :) adore Brooke, that is so awesome that she is doing well. I remember her mini paintings on Instagram
I know... she started selling those at $10.00 a pop... now her work sells for more than mine :)
I'm 30 and just now considering chasing my dream of being a painter. I can't believe Brooke got so lucky. Divine intervention sent her everything she needed without her asking. I never got that - how do you find a mentor on your own?
Money. Doubt it was free mentorship
He mentioned he is a friend of her parents.
This is so lovely to see. I have actually a lot of grief around art as I have always been "talented" at it but never really have given it a real shot due to the societal droning on about how art is a horrible career idea. I am on my second masters (in landscape architecture ironically!) and it still nags at me. I look at what I do and what I did like, 10 years ago, and also imagine where I might be if I had had a true mentor. Maybe I need to go find one. Maybe you, even! But also maybe someone I can engage with in person. To have a mentor is a dream and a huge advantage, just to have someone to push you and believe in you.
