The song is so beautiful as is, but Hongjoongs gentle vocals and unique twist to it makes it that more beautiful. I got lost in his voice just like Major Tom lost connection to ground control. His voice makes me feel as if I'm floating away in space. It's so calming I could fall asleep to it. At this point I'm just rambling because I honestly don't know how to put my love for this cover in words. But you did amazing on this baby. You're amazing and I wish nothing but the best for you. As a David Bowie fan, Hongjoong of Ateez covered this song his way, introducing Bowie to a new generation who has never heard of him. Bowie was iconic in his own way and broke barriers with his make up and image which was far from the norm in the 60's/70's. Saw this mentioned over on the official music video. Glad I checked it out. It's a shame people get so caught up over a style of music they don't enjoy that they fail to see that there is some creativity involved.
I don't get the impression at all that this artist thought he could be better than Bowie. It's clearly more of a tribute. Rather than just reiterate the original lyrics, this cover painted the image of a person connecting with a classic that he felt resonates with the challenges he faces in his own life. Absolutely beautiful in it's own right.

wow. beautiful interpretation! Indeed, Hongjoong, this artist, is a big fan of david bowie. Doing this 'cover' but rather a 're-interpretation of the song' for him was a way to tribute david bowie, and giving the song a modern sound in the hopes to reach the younger public who hasn't heard about bowie yet :) In a live video he talked about the process of making this song. it's very interesting to hear. He also gave it his own meaning. Don't remember what exactly though !
