Very small but very useful..two of one as a spare is handy..one of the other..dont worry about my pocket.
Gift from one tool fan to another.
I used to work for a USA company many years ago and some bits of tools were company issue.. never seem to see these items in wholesale over here but I searched online and found some so..I bought some and some spares...
When you have them, you use them..when you dont have them. You curse yourself for not having them. .you will get the idea once you have and use them.
Trust me...been in this game for a long, long time and these are likely the smallest tool you will have..but can save a lot of cursing.

I'll get you started with the hammer.
Look at Hulfortators electricians hammer, also Wiha electricians hammer..right tool for a security engineer for cable clips..I have had the Hulfators one for a few years and its great for our job,the Wiha one I am waiting on as it claims to be 300 g as opposed to 500g....the Klein one is something like 35 ozs and huge...oh,and not listed at CEF.

  • @oyleyhands1332
    @oyleyhands1332 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Aye...do the question and answer slot
I'll give you a couple of questions about Kleins tool range..is it that comprehensive for a security installer in the UK?
How about a hammer aimed at the security sector with a head of 20OZ or less, squareish head for getting close to corners ?
How about an co-ax crimping tool for standard bnc crimps (not their own compression type) used for CCTV, CVBS or HD-CVI ?
You have one of those crimping tools you showed in your kit but you stated you dod not know what it was for !
Two pole Voltage tester with GS38 leads and a proving unit?
Clamp meter that reads elv and lv/ multimeter ...with a DC range ?
Or....how about replacement test leads with croc clips for the MM range of meters that they sell? they are lot listed on the CEF site ! ! ! and as there is a dedicated slot to hold the probes, they need to fit !
A fused spur puller to open the fuse carrier on a standard fused UK spur face ? you must know hat a sod they can be to slide out.
Add to list...live circuit breaker finder for the UK volatges ?
How about a fuse inserter/extractor for the standasr 20mm glass or ceramic fuses found in most UK panels ?
Now you have an 'association' with Klein....there are you starters for ten 😁👍
Now then, if the answer might be...they are a USA company so they dont supply specific tools for the UK, in that case I will come back and supply you with manufacturers (well known ones) that do.
Which reminds me...a couple of items I can send to you FOC are on the way to me now.
All above are useful to a Security/ CCTV/Fire and Access control engineer...

They have a major advantage over CK, Irwin, Stanley etc offerings...the metal cable stop guage

Don't get me wrong here, Klein are great tools but they are not really catering for the type of work we are involved in,
they are aimed at the Industrial/commercial electrician..and in the main of course, the USA version !
Example are those pliers you show, orange and grey handles..great for that Romex cable.
I have done some comparing with the Knipex 13 82 200 and for our type of work, they are the non chrome version, I have the chrome version on order. the Knipex is more suitable, certainly if engaged in work outside or areas inside like chiller rooms.
The comfort on the Kleins for repetetive use is rubbish...as they are not spring return, but neither are the Kleins, one uses the first or second finger, sometimes both to open the handles. I have mixed views on spring loaded handles, Bahco have it sorted with the spring bar and are my everyday tool pouch carry along with their side cutters.
Even the edges where the mould must meet, just happens to be where the transition betwee the orange and grey meet has sharpish edges, more so at the end of the handles.
The cutting edges on the Knipex are curved and feel like an easier cut as its graduated cutting as opposed to a sort of sudden snap cut, they also open easier and wide enough to cut Fp cables without forcing the jaw open.
You try that and see just what is abrasive against the sides and back of your fingers...the really soft part.
There is a circular moulding and the item paert no just at the point that touches your skin, it's raised and abrasive and very uncomfortable, the hinge is incredibly stiff, I must have opened and closed mine several hundred times over the last two days and still stiff. I have ever re lubricated with the best friction elliminator I know..ZX1 and barely any improvement.
The Kleins are really heavy in comparison to the Knipex, this comes from being aimed at Electricians.
The crimping section is not a lot of use in our role,if you use end ferrules for terminals one should be using a crimping tool that totally encircles the ferrule really as they auto adjust for different size ferrules and apply the correct amount of pressure, The Kleins have zero regulation as the pressure applied and unless you guage it just right almost destroys the ferrule. T&B cutters and crimping too would do just that same, I have had those for some forty years or more and still can come in handy for insulated butt crimps, the red, blue and yellow variety.
The knipex tool also strips the metric sizecables we use such as FP cables that normally are 1.5mm cores.
The Knipex tool also serve as needle nose for postioning cables in terminals, and they reach into tight areas such as junction or wall boxes.
The Kleins will remain as my back up pliers in the vehicle or at home for any mains work.
Klein pliers..in the main, great but not aimed in any way at or role...and I have spent a lot of years and time selecting my tools.

A steel plumb bob and line and a neodmium ring magnet ...with an alternative to the plumb bob being a few large washers glued together and both dipped in plastidip for smooth gliding and insulation... the magnet is much stronger than the Gekko also....Oh,I do have a Gekko, had it since they first bought it in and badged it.
