Shormann mathematics (DIVE) offers free tutoring from Dr. Shormann- the creator of the curriculum! It’s a very solid math program. It’s all online and grades the work for you, has quizzes and tests, and gives hints, etc. It’s advanced though, and I believe only available for pre-algebra and high school math. But if your student is interested in a math heavy field, it’s a great fit. I believe they also offer online science curriculum!

Thank you so much for this! You are one of the reasons that we switched to TT and we have not regretted it! When my daughter finished a year, she did ask for this very pretty curriculum and it just did not work for her. She asked me if she could go back to TT. I love the immediate grading of each problem personally!

WE LOVE TT!!! I am actually getting it for my younger girls for the summer to shorten learning loss over the summer. They aren't home-schooled yet, but we plan to start with them for middle school! I WISH TT did other subjects!!

I'm going to start teaching textbooks this coming up school year. I've listened to your other videos on teaching textbooks and I'm excited to try it. We've been doing Abeka ever since I started homeschooling my kids nine years ago. It was good in the begining ,but I really feel like I need to make some changes. We change some curriculum last year. I've listened to alot of your homeschool videos and they've been encouraging to me to make more changes, and to know what curriculum to try.Thank you for your videos.

Thank you for this review as a longtime user. I have been using TGTB simply math for my 2 kids but now one is moving to 7th grade and they don't have the 7th grade level out yet so I am scrambling to find another curriculum that will work well for all of us! I need it to be video taught and my son wants a workbook so I plan on printing out the book. But surprisingly when he took the placement test and I looked over the table of contents, I feel like everything from grade 7 TT was already covered with TGTB grade 6. So I had him do the placement test for prealgebra on TT and that is where he is going to start! I am a little nervous because TGTB lessons are considerably longer so I am trying to find all the reviews I can for TT but at this point I think I am sold on it!

Yes, TT does seem to be about a grade level “off” other curriculum, including the good and the beautiful (I love both curriculum, not bashing either one!)
The lessons might look short at first, but I think you might be surprised how long they really take. Also, there is nothing wrong with you child doing more than one lesson a day if they want? Some of my kids do a full lesson it TT, then listen to the next lecture, do a few practice problems of the next lesson if they feel they want to do more. At that age they can pace themselves well!❤

We used it for Algebra 1 and looking back on it now it was a huge mistake...my student is preping for SAT and remembers nothing even though the assignments in TT were well done and always graded A...I have hear opinions that TT is liked by studnents and parents becuase it is easy...Looking back, I would have picked much more rigious program since Algebra 1 is crucial for SAT/ACT and college math classes...

Hi, currently my parents have put me on TT and Khan Academy to learn math in 9th grade. What other programs would you recommend for someone like me?

My daughter used TT in middle school. I found that it lacked rigor. Just didn't teach with depth.

Perhaps it’s a bit person-to-person like many things are. I used it throughout high school, entered a college Algebra class at 17 and it was like picking up right where I’d left off.

I am not convinced that TT is an academically robust program that will prepare the student for university level math.

For us it worked well for college prep but I'm sure others might not agree.

Is there a way to review the problems BEFORE answering? My kids review the steps to the problems but AFTER they’ve gotten the answer wrong, and then it shows them step by step to the right answer. So they’re average grade is high. Is this normal? Sorry genuinely asking, we are new to homeschooling and using TTB for the first time. My kids live it though.

Do you know if the student is reading the problems for grade 5? My son is behind in reading but on grade from math when the problems are read out loud to him. Thanks hoping to use this coming fall.

Every problem is read for the students so non-readers can work independently.

We LOVE teaching textbooks, but we are switching for my son's 9th grade year and maybe my rising 7th grader. It was a hard decision to go from TT to CTC and I hope it works out for us. I won't hesitate to go back to it once our subscription is up if CTC doesn't work. I keep hearing it's not a good program and some moms are bashing it... then they mention Shormann, but it just zaps any love for math that a student might have. It might be solid program, but it's just different.

What do you use to get your kids up to TT3?
My daughter is going into 3rd but still at 2nd grade math level..
We use The good and the beautiful and it's not working for her.

My family doesn’t do a lot of screen time for our children. We want to try texting textbooks and would consider buying them some sort of decide strictly for school. Can you recommend or share what your family uses? Thank you so much.

    • @aplacetonest

You don't need the books if you opt for the digital subscription. There is still a book/DVD version but it's much more expensive than the digital version.

We have a digital subscription, but we need to turn in "sample work" to our charter school teacher. The online access also contains ebooks. Each lesson has a PDF that can be printed, which is super helpful!
