    Really love your little history lessons! It’s funny, in the UK you’d rarely see a Cuba Libre made with Cuban Rum. They get all fancy. But Hav 3 is hard to beat. It’s kinda what I grew up on.

      Thank you. i have noticed a bunch of recipes that add extras to keep it fancy and special. ie angostura. Bacardi was the thing here.

      Yes, but you're also supposed to use Cuban mint crushed together in hands. According to old formula

    Cuba 🇨🇺 libre is a great drink man. Definitely takes you to the Caribbean.

    This is one of my personal favorites. In fact, any time I have any type of rum and coke, I add extra lime to make it a "Cuba Libre". Love the lime!

    Your written instructions are perfect, 2 parts Coca Cola to 1 part rum. Awesome drink. Sometimes for a twist I will use lemon instead of lime.

    The Cuba Libre is my new favourite drink. Just came here to see I made it the right way, and I did. Cheers from Finland (where it's a super long and very hot summer), definitely the right year for Cuba Libre. 😎

    I prepare it with a Captain Morgan gold spiced rum and the ratio between the rum and the Coca Cola is 3 to 1 . Works well .

    love this vid! we use calypso brand rum for the smooth taste + $ affordability, and to honor my carribean heritage. thank you for the detailed breakdown.

    At university this was my drink of choice, but after one night just thinking about the drink makes me feel bad; hahahaha I still love rum, but Cuba Libre still feels like a challenge to get back to. Awesome video by the way. Cheers!

    Kraken Black Spiced Rum is my rum of choice. It isn't a Cuban rum, but its flavor profile works extremely well in this drink

    What sets it apart from rum and coke other than the lime is the amount of rum used. You need more of it than coke.

    Cuban rum is still near impossible to find in the States. I've personally never had it thought I've had a few cuban cigars. lol. Classic cocktail!

      Everytime I go to Mexico or some other country I take advantage of Duty Free and buy a couple of bottles of Havana 3 and 7

      It totally depends on you and the rum you use. If you can get Cuban Rum try that. Otherwise use what you like.

    Havaña is the shit. 100% best choice of rum for the easiest cola-drinks out there! *edit* also the choice of cola makes the difference, just like you said it. I've heard many US citizen import the Mexican cola, because the sugar does NOT made from corn!

      Yes a lot off people like prefer the taste of the Mexican version of coke a cola because the use a different sugar. I know one person who told me that is is less gassy too.

      @@jacobmorales1283 That depends on you. tastes. and rum that you like. although I might stay with white or gold rums. As any rum you use will adjust the flavour. I suggest if you have more than one rum at home, try them out see which one you like best.

    Coca Cola made with real cane sugar makes for a much better Cuba Libre'...I personally prefer a dark rum..
