Just wanted to say your videos are amazing man! You deserve more subs and more recognition. Best prospect videos on the internet. The way you break it down and even compare stats with past Alums from same leagues is fantastic.
Recently found your channel, been binging! Thanks for helping me get caught up! I can tell you definitely out a lot of work into this, definitely earned a sub!
Much appreciated!!! Thanks for watching and the sub! Make sure you check out our Community Mock Draft starting tonight after the NHL Lottery. It's a lot of fun and I make a video on the results and use viewer comments in the video. Cheers!
We need some size and smart playmaking ability. We have plenty of shooters with no one to consistently get them the puck and drive play, specifically from the gritty areas. And who doesn't love a 200ft player.
If a team drafts Leo Carlsson… The onnnnnlyyyyy thing you care about… is… Get stronger. WORK ON YOUR SHOT. Get stronger. WORK. ON. YOUR. SHOTTTT and then 2-3 years from now, you get A BEAUTY !!! Kopitar/Mats Sundin - like.
He looks to use his reach well which is a good thing.I don't think he has much of a shot and seems a bit lazy around the front of the net.He sort of reminds me of the old Pete Mahovlich but likely not as tough.I think he will be a good sort of setup guy a sort of smooth calm skating player.I don't think his compete or board toughness wil be very good but he seems a good pick to be at least a second line center.
I don't understand why so many people have him rated in the top 3-4. I think the NHL will be way too fast for him. Not just how fast NHL players skate, but at the decision making level. To me, he's barely top 20. If he was under 6 foot, he wouldn't be rated nearly as high. NHL GMs still value size for some reason.
The NHL does value size still! But he's been putting up respectful numbers at high level play and the skating can be worked on. The decision making will be a test at the NHL level for sure!
I think he has lots of promise but at 18 he's got a few more years to go before he's playing in the NHL. It would be a good move by the team that drafts him to keep him in the AHL for the next 2 - 3 yrs.
This is not true at all. Hes not going to need remotely close to a few years and could probably play in NHL right now if not is extremely close. Hes already a good player in the SHL, is big and is a forward which takes far less time to make NHL. He'll take at most 1 year after being drafted, if that, before playing in NHL ... He'll 100% be playing in NHL by start of 2024/2025 season
@@freefalling6960 I think he fits the mold of what Mike Grier wants. I think pairing him with a creative playmaker line Eklund would be insane. A line with Eklund -Carlsson-Guschin could be insanely productive.
He will go 3 or 4. GMs will fall ln love with his size. Mitchov is the wildcard. Think whatever teams drafts 4th will take Mitchov. Who is a risk because he may not come over after his KHL contact is up. My prediction is Hawks pick Mitchov at 4 unless Fantilli or Carlsson drops. Which is doubtful.
@@rtk5847 This is going to be one of those draft lotteries that will have fans on the edge of their seats! Bedard obviously is the big fish, but there's a bunch of great players down the list too!
@@keenanodonoghue4747 Yeah there are times when Carlsson seems to be just watching the play develop...watch the Fantilli video and you'll see someone who has good pace to his game and is always motoring around the ice.
@@keenanodonoghue4747 Fantilli is a beast! However, one of my favs in this draft is Benson...skill, motor, high hockey IQ, etc...just love the way he plays. Wings end up with Benson, that would be a great pick!
Often time big europeen guys have difficulty of lack of space and speed of the nhl. I love his skill set but dont like his pace, feel kind of risky pick
@@philliamjond EU players are overrated because they play against adults + they have to adapt to a smaller ice rink. I would rather draft a player that dominates against guys his age than someone who perform average or below average playing against men. The exceptions are EU players that actually play above average like Stuzle,Kakko, Laine, Matthews(played his draft year in swiss), Dahlin,petterson... These players had true stars draft year. In comparaison to these players, Carlsson isnt doing anything exceptionnal in the best draft since 2015 to deserve being draft 3rd or 4th. + The team that draft him will probably rush him in the nhl and hurt his development. In order, I would rather take Michkov(no brainer, he is on whole other level), Smith, Benson, Moore. Making him 7th overall which is still very good. I just think 3rd/4th is a reach
People don't understand he is 18 playing in a MENS league, if he played in the WHL like bedard hed likely put up 100-120 points.

Grr
I'm glad this didn't age very well.
Though he may not be as offensively gifted as others in top 5, I think he's able to play more physical on the puck where others may not.
Great video. I wasn't impressed with this kid in other TH-cam videos, but you definitely broke it down and showed full clips!

So wrong lol
he looks like a blue jacket already!
He just may be!
I see him going to the Ducks at #3

hope someone will take him before mtl
He'll probably go before that, so you're safe!
shot is unbelievable, in the world juniors. I disagree with characterizing His shot as average
Agreed he has a great shot...said it is underutilized. He needs to use it more.

i thought he was closer to couturier🤷🏻♂️
I hope he isn’t as soft as Hayes.
This has Sharks pick all over it.
After watching more tape, I deleted my comment. He'll do just fine

a bit of nick backstrom in him eh?
Bigger version and maybe not as much of a playmaker as Backstrom. He has some great hands and tough to knock him off the puck.

Martin Hanzal 2.0 - just needs to be healthy and he is a solid second line center.
