Go on Rob. Show em what that beast is made of. Nothing sounds more sweeter, more menacing than a TVR V8. FYI I’m buying a Chimera next week mate. They just got to valet her, check her all over and she’s a runner. It’s a 1997, 62k on the clock, I’ve took it for a test drive, and although my mechanical knowledge of TVRs is limited, she seems too run fine. The drivers seat has cracks, but passenger seat is mint. Carpets and general interior is in good condition along with the cab roof and I’ve brought from a garage so I at least got 3 months warranty with it. I know what I’m in for, I’ve saved a piggy bank for that inevitable day when something will go wrong, but if I don’t bite the bullet now I’ll never do it. I’ve wanted a TVR since I was a kid and now at 43 I can finely afford one. I’d love a Cerbera like yours but I simply can’t stretch to buy a good condition one, unless it’s a barn find job, and I simply don’t have the mechanical knowledge or confidence to take on a big job as a non runner. At least with this Chimera I can drive her away back home. Buying it from London and driving it back too Worcester, so I can’t wait. I’ve even booked a air B&B the night before so I can pick it up first thing when they open. I’ll keep you posted. And been doing some serious talking on some TVR forums trying too attain as much knowledge as I can with the common faults on Chimera, but everyone seems too have different opinions or experiences. As said I’m just taking the dive and hoping for the best🙏
Awesome shiiiit! Welcome to the TVR fold and yeh Chimaera's such as the Cerb have niggly faults but the "Chimp" will be a lot cheaper to run than a "Three headed bitch". I think you have been wiser than me that's for sure. I hope it is everything you want an expect from a TVR and understand it will be a c**t, but it's well worth the hassle. 👍💪🤭 Remember respect it and it will respect you, I liken it to owning a viscous dog, stay on the right side of it and you wont get bitten! 😄 The seat cracking is normal, might be able to get some leather restorer to bring it back, as long as it isnt ripped. But beware that speedos in these get replaced so mileage on most TVRs are spurious, MOT history should be a big giveaway. Would the garage you're buying from allow you to get a registered TVR expert to have a look at it before you hand the cash over? Anyway happy for you! 😊👍
@@RobsCars yes they will rob. Thanks for all the advice mate, I hope you don’t mind me contacting you for future advice? Do you know or have any contacts for TVR specialists in the London area who could do a inspection for me? Id rather fork a few hundred quid first too make sure I’m buying a decent car? I drove it for about 10/15 mins and it seems fine, but as my knowledge is limited I could be buying a wreck for all I know? Do you have any numbers, names or links for someone who I can contact? The garage specialise in sports classics and they have good reviews so I’m fairly confident their not selling me a rotten pear of a car. if you know of anyone I can contact that would greatly appreciated. Just realised I spelt Chimaera wrong in my original comment. I’ve also cleared my garage out because no way am i leaving her parked outside, not in the coming winter anyhow. The hood has a few little rips, but nothing that affects the waterproof of the hood from rain. I’ve been told that’s a common problem on the Chimaera. When I get it would be great too have link up at a TVR meet. Would you recommend any good clubs I can join, somewhere I can learn, get advice as I’m a complete TVR virgin, so I’m really going into this blind. But as said if I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it. I have the money in the bank, plus save a few hundred quid each month for servicing, faults etc. and I’m not sure who too get insurance with, any recommendations? Sorry to ask so much Rob and feel free too tell me to bugger off if I’m doing your head in😂 but I’m so excited, I feel like a 6 year old on Christmas morning again. Just typing you this message now I’m getting butterflies in my stomach😂
People in their 911’s don’t know what they’re missing…
The cackling at 1:04 says it all!
Good job mate, sounds like it’s fighting-fit again.
Haha thanks mate, getting there. Still a few jobs to sort but glad I've been able to get out in it. There is nothing else like it for sheer character.
that downshift before entering the tunnel was fire
Hahaha thank you Juan! They're are incredible bits of kit, thanks for your comment. 👍😬

Hi Rob. I once owned S525AON. If you ever consider selling her I’d be very interested in buying her back. Thanks, Robert
