    Crossfire was also known as Ceasefire back in the day. From what i remember( i used to be huge in to 3rd gens) the crossfire had lots of issues and some were converted back to carb. Also, the camaro didn't get the L98 (350 Tuned Port) until 1987. Before that the top dog was the 305 Z28.

    • @Adrian-mq5ld
      @Adrian-mq5ld 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      do you know how much hp it would have had after changing to carb? I'm curious how much it influenced their experiment back then lol

    • @350TPI
      @350TPI 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Adrian-mq5ld Honestly man i can't say but i would think it probably gained a little and DEFINITELY helped drivability and reliability. The 84 Corvette's 350 also had crossfire and suffered with the same issues. TPI solved those issues when it debuted in the 85 vettes. The camaro also got TPI 305s that year.

      Randy this car is begging to be brought back to life! A Holly EFI fuel system like JR and Fractured Rooster use. Then just murder it all out flat black with tint. This bad boy Camaro would be a sic asf. Lucky wheels and Deals might be interested but this thing deserves to be saved.

    Love them camaro's. I had a 1987 Camaro Iroc Z28 with a 5.0 3 years ago. Now I upgraded to a 1990 Iroc Z 5.7L G92 Performance & last year for the Iroc... I love it. They make great cars.

    My dad had a 1982 Trans Am with the Crossfire 305 in it back in the day while in the Air Force in the early 1990s. It was completely built and the previous owner my dad bought it from had tickets from the track for 180mph+.

    Nice find. '82 Z-28 with the crap fire injection. Had one exactly like that as my first car back in 1987. Bought it used for $6K. Had the typical problems that one had. High idling (vacuum leaks, IAC motors that never worked right), TPS that was always mis-calibrated, leaky hood flaps that caused hydro-lock & broken starters because of it. Mine had the black pleather interior instead of the cloth. Went through two sets of t-tops, two short blocks, transmission mounts, transmissions, driveshaft u-joint that failed. Rust galore. But I shined the shit outta mine every day I had it. Finally let it go in 1996 or so.

    My 1st car was a 1982 Z28 Crossfire injection Camero with T Tops! I use to race that car EVERY chance I got! It was the BIGGEST gas guzzler I EVERY had. I remember 1 time I was on the interstate at around 3am in the morning and I STOMPED down on the gas and I LITERALLY watched the gas needle DROP!!! No shit ! it was drinking THAT MUCH gas! Good find Randy my man ! 😀

    I've always had a soft spot for the DTS. The older Deville's were bad with the head gasket issues but they actually improved it with the DTS. It can happen but it's not as common as the older ones.

    You need to read up some on the 80's cars. In '82 the crossfire was only offered in the Camaro Z28 package and it was automatic only. It was actually considered to be the top engine choice. There was no 350 available in 1982 Camaros.
    Love you channel, keep the videos coming.

    I got the 82 Camaro crossfire sitting around . It's a little rough but slowly trying to fix it up . I thought it was interesting as a sort of rarity and a classic, as it was the first year of the third gen model. the 305 was the largest engine offered in that year for it

    I agree with you , Randy , those starters were a lot of " fun " to replace on the Northstar ( replaced one on a 97 ) , I do believe gm redid the head bolts after 2004 ( they went with longer head bolts and coarser thread )

    As someone who has had about a dozen 3rd gen Camaros and Firebirds and so want to have another, I would definitely take this one on, especially for $600. This one is in pretty decent shape compared to the hack jobs for sale in Georgia for 4-5 times that price. People here want $2k for totally trashed interior and no drivetrain.

    In the Cadillac, check that the window lock isn't engaged. That would keep you from being able to test all the other windows.

    • @digitalrailroader
      @digitalrailroader 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the window lock only disables the other 3 window switches; the DDSA (Driver Door Switch Assembly) is supposed to have power at all times while the key is either in accessory, ignition on, or in RAP (Retained Accessory Power) mode. the fact that the other three windows did nothing when Randy was attempting to use the Driver Switches tells me that there's something physically wrong with the regulator assemblies or the motors in the passenger doors.

    In Canada B.C. I had a white 97 Deville also with the north star engine, i only had it a few years, until 2016 but in the time i had it, the motor never gave me any trouble, I drove my elderly dad in it after he could no longer drive but he enjoyed the ride very much until his passing, after dad was gone, I wanted to keep it, but Cadillac parts are expensive and with sky rocking gas prices and limited resources i was forced to down grade to somthing more economical.

I laughed about it originally, because in my neighborhood it makes me the "Redneck by proxy." I quit laughing the first time a deer decided to jump out in front of "Fordinand" in the Duke Forest. No damage. 2nd time? A pair jumped out and the bumper pushed them down & under the axles...no damage

    DTS is a fine luxury automobile, but I prefer the Buick Lucerne, built on the same platform and in the same plant. I have altered two Buick Lucernes (2007 CXS and 2008 Super) into Wildcats, with emblems from 1964.
