Todays rappers make millions by glorifying a fake lifestyle they never lived and make millions by doing it, they needa give the ogs the credit they deserve they paved the way for many of today’s rap/hiphop sub genres and fathered all these wannabes.
There was a lot of violence, robberies and drug dealing going on back then, half of the music that’s considered trap nowadays has nothing to do with trapping, Dj Spanish fly, three six, Tommy Wright, Dj zirk, skinny pimp, and many more were talking about pushing powder, slanging caine/rocks, dope, etc. Lil fly even said trapping in one of his songs. IMO Memphis was the most unique and versatile in the rap game, they were ahead of their time. Back then the south was mocked but ended up having the biggest influence in today’s music, while the west coast and east had a war going on the south was ahead of the game. They just got more recognition back then but they couldn’t compete with this Memphis shyt.
