I found that fucking hilarious when I watched it. Literally the second he got it in his inventory it was equipped, so I'm guessing that's just an amusing bug. But if I were him, I'd definitely be wearing a new hat. Perks of leadership amirite
@@chemputer Bethesda is known for their bugs, but that is not the case here. NPCs in the game are programmed to equip the best armor that is in their inventory. In this case the Enclave helmet had better stats and thus the character equipped it. Still freakin' hilarious, though.
@@MintBiscuits true but still specific npc's "prefur" specific weapon and armour types so sometimes they won't equip combat armour because they prefer leather or faction armour for example like with Jericho

Outcasts? Oh, you mean the infinite stimpaks dispensers that make each playthrough a breeze. Casdin is basically a Sierra Madre vending machine; infinite ammo & medicine in exchange for useless salvage.
Balanced only slightly by the general weight of Enclave Power Armor. Casdin makes Small Guns the best early game skill, no question; too much 5.56mm to not be.
I always got a little pissed when NPC's called me Kid when I first played this game, but after doing another play-through recently I was reminded that the Lone Wanderer is canonically 19 years old.
When I gave this guy the enclave armor, he immediately put it on. And when I came back with Tesla armor he replaced his armor with that lol. Now for me he walks around looking like an enclave soldier

people shit on f3 for being a bad rpg, yet the lore has so much thought to it. the outcast is a good design choice to explain why the brotherhood suddenly changed to the good guys.

I remember leaving the vault (a newbie to fallout), coming across these guys and spending like an hour trying to kill them for their loot (think there was 2 of them). Once I succeeded, I learned that I needed power armor training lol.

I honestly never knew you could befriend the Outcasts; usually I just left them alone as it would end in tears whenever I decided to check out the inside of their base.
The thing is that after playing FO4 I feel like the outcasts were the true brotherhood all along. Their views and mannerisms clearly aligned with Maxson which is why they came back into the fold. FO3s brotherhood was more like the minutemen.

I feel like if elder Lyons had simply dedicated the outcasts as the “technology reclamation sector”,the whole fiasco could have been avoided,sure it breaks protocol but then again so does the eastern Brotherhood of Steel as a whole. The outcasts could have had so much more development,wether that be just a few proper side missions,or what would have been awesome:side with the outcasts to take on leadership or outright destruction the BOS or visa-verca Just my take on the situation, Have a good day!
Doubt it. The Outcasts didn't like Elder Lyons helping the wasteland. It wouldn't matter if he were also going after tech too, because it still goes against the BoS codex.
Really been looking forward to this one, Oxhorn, and you did great. On the matter of Outcast effectiveness: most everything the Brotherhood has was discovered upon their initial arrival in the Capital Wasteland twenty years ago; the vault of Power Armor in DC, Liberty Prime, et cetera, then Lyons redirected them to helping people. The Outcasts have only really been in existence for a little over one year and found Operation: Anchorage, and have a camp nearby to Fort Constantine -- where we find the T-51b suit in-game and a stockpile of nuclear arms. Until the Enclave War, I think the Outcasts were edging out over the Brotherhood, if only slightly. After, though... Well, Lyons got to loot the Crawler and Raven Rock, so no question Lyons was winning then. But the Outcasts' complaints were about more than just technology, even if that was the core. They saw Lyons' crusade as a waste; good Brotherhood soldiers were dying merely to save locals, and there was no grander strategy involved. Until the Lone Wanderer tells them, Lyons knows nothing more about the Super Mutants then they did twenty years ago. No surprise, to me, that Fallout 4 lore confirms a more decisive SM war post-3. Simply put, the Outcasts did not see a point in Lyons-brand of heroism. It was throwing bodies at a issue, dying without meaning, and barely scraping by still. I think that is why they agreed to rejoin under Elder Arthur Maxson -- despite him carrying on many of Lyons' policies, he still cared about the original mission, and has more ambitious plans than merely "we kill mutants, protect people" which is what led to the Brotherhood-NCR war in the first place.
Oh! You also mentioned Cross not shooting the Outcasts. In the game files, Brotherhood and Outcasts factions are enemies: if they see each other, they will open fire. Prior to Broken Steel, the only way an Outcast and a Brotherhood could meet was Cross. As a follower, she is tied to you, but if you dismissed her and she saw and Outcast, they would fight. Post Broken Steel, with Brotherhood patrols in the wastes, it is not uncommon to find Outcasts patrols fighting them. That is why, in New Vegas, Veronica mentions a "small civil war" about the Brotherhood's policy on isolationism; she is referring to the Brotherhood-Outcast War.
The odd thing is, it's the Outcasts, not the BoS, who actually patrol the Wasteland. In my playthrough, they helped me fight Raiders at one of the Forts.
Also, regarding Isolation and Recruiting, Elder Lyons rescued about 100 "un-mutated" children from The Pitt, and raised most of them as Knights and Paladin. Apparently this was a no-no, "diluting their genetic stock." But none of them realize that natural breeding leads to Increased population over generations.
You mean Casdin, right? All the stuff you give him goes into his inventory, and Bethesda programs AI to wear the best stuff in their inventory. Enclave helmets are better than Outcast ones, so... Most of the stuff Oxhorn gave him was probably low quality, otherwise Casdin would wear the suit, too. By the end of my games, Casdin is wearing full Tesla Power Armor with an Alien Blaster holstered at his side.

In Fallout 4 I used the Outcast Power Armor paint job when I beat the game with the BOS. Then I walked up to Elder Maxson with my Wazer Wifle, a quicksave, about 70 stimpaks and the doggiest of meat. I died, a lot.

Really wish we could’ve joined the outcasts somehow, they’ve always been a favorite faction of mine. Maybe if we joined Lyons’s brotherhood first and then had an option to defect to the outcasts through a side quest?

I'll never forget the time I handed in a full condition laser rifle, worth 999 caps, and got back 5 stimpaks (I was also 13 and didn't know condition didn't have an effect on your pay) I instantly reloaded a save.
Wow. Right before this upload I had just saved the game an hour ago after meeting defender Rockfowl and took a break to learn more about the outcasts... wtf
I collected tech for Protector Casdin until the 'So, are we good? You trust me enough now?' dialogue option became available. He said his piece about letting the patrols know that I'm a friend of the Outcasts and I was like great, they're going to stop insulting me and help me know if I get attacked and they're near by. But instead after I said I was leaving Casdin says 'shouldn't you be banging rocks together somewhere' a short while later I meet a Outcast patrol on the road east of the Yao Guai Tunnels whilst wearing Outcast Power Armor and they were still saying things like 'oh great here's some of the local wildlife'. I got attacked by a Giant Radscorpion and they just kept on walking. Aren't they supposed to treat you like one of their own if you're wearing Outcast Power Armor and aid you if you're under attack from hostiles after you've collected enough tech for Casdin?
Love the video. I am short on time, but I do want to say that I think not being able to join the Outcasts or the Enclave was a missed opportunity by Bethesda to really let us play the game how we wanted to!
My first Fallout 3 playthrough was evil. I established a "loop" where I'd go to Raven Rock, kill the Enclave Soldiers that spawned there (except one, who I sent off to Paradise Falls), looted all their tech gear, and gave it to the Outcasts for Stimpacks, while getting some caps from the slavers, then rinse and repeat.
I love the outcast power armor paint the red,black and sliver mash really well I wonder what the enclave power armor would look like with the outcast paint scheme
There's actually 2 alien blasters, the original without dlc at the saucer crash, with dlc if you get close they beam you up and the old blaster disappears but you can send in dog meat to fetch it for you and then get the new one on the ship, I think an alien on the bridge has it.
The Outcasts... Stupid like Maxson himself... I don't like them and honestly most of the times i simply ignore or kill them. Kharmaloss isn't a think if you spend your scrap metal in Megaton for nothing than refreshed kharma. Lyons did as the BoS in the east, which let super mutants in. He renewed the brotherhood to better fit the needs in their region. Every other chapter who did not failed. See the battles with the NCR and the Mojave Chapter. Slowly decaying because they underestimate their enemies and aren't interested in a solution only in picking and hording technology, and then somebody hacks your precious bunkerterminal or your prewar killerrobot and you going boom... They are short sighted and the current leader of the BoS in the Commonwealth is the best example of shortsighted, shorttempered quick solutions. The Deathclaw who wounded him would be a better leader. Who needs Synths to infiltrate a faction if they tear them apart by itself. Who will farm their crops uf they proceed this path?
What’s really funny is that Maxson’s BoS like the Outcast do a poor job of actually finding and securing technology. The Sole Survivor (incidentally operating out of a different Fort Independence aka The Castle) can actually find interesting technology such as ballistic weave from the DIA, Piezonucleic Power Armor from the polymer labs, Project Cobalt out of Nuka World, X-01 Power armors, Prototype UP77 from University Point, artillery blueprints from The Castle, robot workbench schematics and robot blueprints from the RobCo Center, the VR simulator in the USS Democracy, etc. Maxson’s BoS just lock access to offline databases.

This is why I love rewatching these videos: I know it’s been mentioned before in the comments but aside from RadAway being a canonical colon cleanser, Austin from The Science! has independently come to the conclusion that it should be. Even in Fallout 4 on survival mode, RadAway basically makes you sick for a bit. I love it! And I love this universe!
at 19:30 anyone finds in not so cozy that a outcast 3 feet away pointing a missile at your face an saying "cadsin said your clear" then all of a sudden turning away last minute.
I do love the look of the Brotherhood Outcasts. Black paint with red stains and trim along with some rust. Love it! I wish they would add that paint in 4 and 76. (yes, I know its lore breaking, technically, for 76 but still)
In my playthrough on the Xbox 360 I was able to pickpocket scrap from Casdin and trade it right back to him. Big idiot. A problem I did have though was on a few occasions fast traveling the Independence Enemies would spawn and the Outcasts weren't healing. Eventually a robobrain killed Casdin which ended our long (and one sided) partnership.
I love the lore of Fallout3 told by Ox, I see in the outcasts Fallout4 BoS... So bad guys, they only care about tech. I really loved how Elder Lyons ruled the eastern chapter and gave hope to the Capital Wasteland :D Why did Sarah had to die in combat? :( She was my greatest hope for the BoS in the future... Loved the vid Ox!!!

It could also be a reference to a Dark Brotherhood character Antoinetta Marie from the game Oblivion. The Outcast Armor being Black and Red and thus "darker." The Outcasts could be a huge subtle reference to the Dark Brotherhood from Elder Scrolls. This is very funny considering both factions share Black and Red armor. While the Outcasts have the name Brotherhood Outcasts, they could easily be called the Dark Brotherhood. Just one enormous coincidence or one very well thought out joke.
The clip is really great, especially since there was one guy who said that when you did a video about The Deadly Secret of the Sunset Sarsaparilla Treasure, he said that you do not fix the video if you forgot something or wronged it. Let this video be lesson to him and others who think same.
There are actually 2 Alien Blasters in the game, besides the Firelance. You can find a second blaster on the Enclave crawler in the Adams Airforce base.

Honestly, I'm waiting for the Fallout game where the Brotherhood's a legit antagonist (4 doesn't count, it's more a gray area since their mission is still primarily to defeat the Institute, which has been using sneaky underhanded tactics in order to essentially replace the local populace with androids that they can use to do their bidding for them. To me, they are just as evil as Vault-Tec, maybe even more so). That comment Defender Morgan makes about how they want to "save humanity from a new dark age...well, not all of humanity. Just the important ones" raises a big red flag for me. What if we encounter a Fallout game where there's a whole section of the Wasteland that survived the war that is doing its best to keep on, only for the Brotherhood to show up and wipe them out for their tech under the pretense that they were connected to the Enclave, Institute, or some other related antagonist group?

I honestly never knew you could befriend the Outcasts; usually I just left them alone as it would end in tears whenever I decided to check out the inside of their base.
The thing is that after playing FO4 I feel like the outcasts were the true brotherhood all along. Their views and mannerisms clearly aligned with Maxson which is why they came back into the fold. FO3s brotherhood was more like the minutemen.

The outcasts could have had so much more development,wether that be just a few proper side missions,or what would have been awesome:side with the outcasts to take on leadership or outright destruction the BOS or visa-verca

Really been looking forward to this one, Oxhorn, and you did great.
On the matter of Outcast effectiveness: most everything the Brotherhood has was discovered upon their initial arrival in the Capital Wasteland twenty years ago; the vault of Power Armor in DC, Liberty Prime, et cetera, then Lyons redirected them to helping people. The Outcasts have only really been in existence for a little over one year and found Operation: Anchorage, and have a camp nearby to Fort Constantine -- where we find the T-51b suit in-game and a stockpile of nuclear arms.
Until the Enclave War, I think the Outcasts were edging out over the Brotherhood, if only slightly. After, though... Well, Lyons got to loot the Crawler and Raven Rock, so no question Lyons was winning then. But the Outcasts' complaints were about more than just technology, even if that was the core. They saw Lyons' crusade as a waste; good Brotherhood soldiers were dying merely to save locals, and there was no grander strategy involved. Until the Lone Wanderer tells them, Lyons knows nothing more about the Super Mutants then they did twenty years ago. No surprise, to me, that Fallout 4 lore confirms a more decisive SM war post-3.
Simply put, the Outcasts did not see a point in Lyons-brand of heroism. It was throwing bodies at a issue, dying without meaning, and barely scraping by still. I think that is why they agreed to rejoin under Elder Arthur Maxson -- despite him carrying on many of Lyons' policies, he still cared about the original mission, and has more ambitious plans than merely "we kill mutants, protect people" which is what led to the Brotherhood-NCR war in the first place.
Oh! You also mentioned Cross not shooting the Outcasts. In the game files, Brotherhood and Outcasts factions are enemies: if they see each other, they will open fire. Prior to Broken Steel, the only way an Outcast and a Brotherhood could meet was Cross. As a follower, she is tied to you, but if you dismissed her and she saw and Outcast, they would fight.
Post Broken Steel, with Brotherhood patrols in the wastes, it is not uncommon to find Outcasts patrols fighting them. That is why, in New Vegas, Veronica mentions a "small civil war" about the Brotherhood's policy on isolationism; she is referring to the Brotherhood-Outcast War.
The odd thing is, it's the Outcasts, not the BoS, who actually patrol the Wasteland. In my playthrough, they helped me fight Raiders at one of the Forts.
Also, regarding Isolation and Recruiting, Elder Lyons rescued about 100 "un-mutated" children from The Pitt, and raised most of them as Knights and Paladin. Apparently this was a no-no, "diluting their genetic stock." But none of them realize that natural breeding leads to Increased population over generations.

You mean Casdin, right? All the stuff you give him goes into his inventory, and Bethesda programs AI to wear the best stuff in their inventory. Enclave helmets are better than Outcast ones, so... Most of the stuff Oxhorn gave him was probably low quality, otherwise Casdin would wear the suit, too. By the end of my games, Casdin is wearing full Tesla Power Armor with an Alien Blaster holstered at his side.

In Fallout 4 I used the Outcast Power Armor paint job when I beat the game with the BOS. Then I walked up to Elder Maxson with my Wazer Wifle, a quicksave, about 70 stimpaks and the doggiest of meat. I died, a lot.

Really wish we could’ve joined the outcasts somehow, they’ve always been a favorite faction of mine. Maybe if we joined Lyons’s brotherhood first and then had an option to defect to the outcasts through a side quest?

I collected tech for Protector Casdin until the 'So, are we good? You trust me enough now?' dialogue option became available. He said his piece about letting the patrols know that I'm a friend of the Outcasts and I was like great, they're going to stop insulting me and help me know if I get attacked and they're near by. But instead after I said I was leaving Casdin says 'shouldn't you be banging rocks together somewhere' a short while later I meet a Outcast patrol on the road east of the Yao Guai Tunnels whilst wearing Outcast Power Armor and they were still saying things like 'oh great here's some of the local wildlife'. I got attacked by a Giant Radscorpion and they just kept on walking. Aren't they supposed to treat you like one of their own if you're wearing Outcast Power Armor and aid you if you're under attack from hostiles after you've collected enough tech for Casdin?

Love the video. I am short on time, but I do want to say that I think not being able to join the Outcasts or the Enclave was a missed opportunity by Bethesda to really let us play the game how we wanted to!
Well, it makes sense for the player not being able to join the enclave as they don't want contaminated people in their ranks
I would have liked that as well. Or maybe even a split path. Starting with Enclave, Vault Dweller, Brotherhood initiate.
My first Fallout 3 playthrough was evil. I established a "loop" where I'd go to Raven Rock, kill the Enclave Soldiers that spawned there (except one, who I sent off to Paradise Falls), looted all their tech gear, and gave it to the Outcasts for Stimpacks, while getting some caps from the slavers, then rinse and repeat.
Love their armor, always thought they were so cool ever since my first playthrough.

There's actually 2 alien blasters, the original without dlc at the saucer crash, with dlc if you get close they beam you up and the old blaster disappears but you can send in dog meat to fetch it for you and then get the new one on the ship, I think an alien on the bridge has it.
The Outcasts... Stupid like Maxson himself... I don't like them and honestly most of the times i simply ignore or kill them. Kharmaloss isn't a think if you spend your scrap metal in Megaton for nothing than refreshed kharma. Lyons did as the BoS in the east, which let super mutants in. He renewed the brotherhood to better fit the needs in their region. Every other chapter who did not failed. See the battles with the NCR and the Mojave Chapter. Slowly decaying because they underestimate their enemies and aren't interested in a solution only in picking and hording technology, and then somebody hacks your precious bunkerterminal or your prewar killerrobot and you going boom...
They are short sighted and the current leader of the BoS in the Commonwealth is the best example of shortsighted, shorttempered quick solutions. The Deathclaw who wounded him would be a better leader. Who needs Synths to infiltrate a faction if they tear them apart by itself.

I would love to have ability to replace Maxon with Paladin Danse. That dude with Kings Complex makes me crazy
What’s really funny is that Maxson’s BoS like the Outcast do a poor job of actually finding and securing technology. The Sole Survivor (incidentally operating out of a different Fort Independence aka The Castle) can actually find interesting technology such as ballistic weave from the DIA, Piezonucleic Power Armor from the polymer labs, Project Cobalt out of Nuka World, X-01 Power armors, Prototype UP77 from University Point, artillery blueprints from The Castle, robot workbench schematics and robot blueprints from the RobCo Center, the VR simulator in the USS Democracy, etc. Maxson’s BoS just lock access to offline databases.
This channel really made fall back into love with the fallout franchise.

After watching so many Fallout New Vegas videos it's so weird to not hear one of the same six voice actors used for most of the NPCs.
Breadbox at Paradise Falls shares a voice actor with like, at least two other NPC's. Probably one of the more immediately notable instances.

This is why I love rewatching these videos: I know it’s been mentioned before in the comments but aside from RadAway being a canonical colon cleanser, Austin from The Science! has independently come to the conclusion that it should be. Even in Fallout 4 on survival mode, RadAway basically makes you sick for a bit. I love it! And I love this universe!

Done that. Being a unique set, he doesn't recognize it as Outcast, but he also won't buy it.
In my playthrough on the Xbox 360 I was able to pickpocket scrap from Casdin and trade it right back to him. Big idiot. A problem I did have though was on a few occasions fast traveling the Independence Enemies would spawn and the Outcasts weren't healing. Eventually a robobrain killed Casdin which ended our long (and one sided) partnership.

The Outcast Armor being Black and Red and thus "darker." The Outcasts could be a huge subtle reference to the Dark Brotherhood from Elder Scrolls.
This is very funny considering both factions share Black and Red armor. While the Outcasts have the name Brotherhood Outcasts, they could easily be called the Dark Brotherhood.

There are actually 2 Alien Blasters in the game, besides the Firelance. You can find a second blaster on the Enclave crawler in the Adams Airforce base.

Honestly, I'm waiting for the Fallout game where the Brotherhood's a legit antagonist (4 doesn't count, it's more a gray area since their mission is still primarily to defeat the Institute, which has been using sneaky underhanded tactics in order to essentially replace the local populace with androids that they can use to do their bidding for them. To me, they are just as evil as Vault-Tec, maybe even more so). That comment Defender Morgan makes about how they want to "save humanity from a new dark age...well, not all of humanity. Just the important ones" raises a big red flag for me. What if we encounter a Fallout game where there's a whole section of the Wasteland that survived the war that is doing its best to keep on, only for the Brotherhood to show up and wipe them out for their tech under the pretense that they were connected to the Enclave, Institute, or some other related antagonist group?
