I'm of the same generation as Emily and the rest of the band. I've experienced 11 years of war and civil conflict, married, had two beautiful kids, and moved to a peaceful farm in Ontario, Canada. There are times when it feels I've lived a thousand lifetimes and yet when I hear Metric play music, I feel like a five-year-old giggling in my dreams.
Here in 2022. Just remembered this song out of the blue. Used to watch this vid as a young man feeling the strength of the unknown and now still feel it in the richness of a known way. Self pity gone its more about saying hey recognize me in love like I know we are all made of love
This version touches me so deeply. I can't explain it. Saw Emily with Metric live in Manchester last week and it was beyond amazing. This track acoustically just blows me away - it's one of my favourite songs of all time already.
It was by far one of my favourite moments of the weekend. When the crowd was singing along with her.. it sounded perfect. I could of listen to that song for hours
Emilty Haines has such an awesome voice, Even more so in acoustic settings I think. These types of songs really let her show how great her voice really is.
they captured something with this song especially this version of it. hard to put my finger on it. but i know it when i feel it. it’s like nostalgia and an epic calming greatness put together. love it.
I normally don't like the acoustic versions of songs, but this is one of the few that is just as good or possibly better than the "original" version of the song.
Beatles were insanely popular for a while and their music will stand throughout time, but they ended up resenting each other and broke up. Rolling stones weren't nearly as popular, but still tour with a huge fan base, and they're still friends who tour together...and most of them are still alive
I'm an old school guy raised on Zepplin, The Beatles, and The Rollin' Stones.......These guys are amazing. Nice to see people still making "real" music.
amen! these and that 2005 concert in France are still like every-other-day in the rotation. that concert especially is great for car jams on the way to work in the early morning.
@napkinrings it's in E A D A C# E tuning. Intro+verse chords(get hot..) 002000, 079000, 0-9-11-000, 024000. Pre-Chorus chords(we're so close...): 054050, 076070 (repeat x2) The chorus gets complicated, cannot explain it here.
Metric and some of the best art, performances, and music I have ever heard don't make me smile, laugh or cry, but simply make me shiver in a kind of haunting captivation. I love it. Can't wait to see them live in September.
Have such a deep rooted love for this song. It kind of helped through something in my life that was scary and amazing and super scary all in the same breath. I took a chance on something called HSCT to halt my multiple sclerosis. The treatment involves chemotherapy. Had to go out of the country away from my family for a medical treatment they don’t provide for ms in the US. Really found a lot of the emotions in this song that I felt through that experience. Metric is one of the most under rated bands ever. Definitely thankful for this song!
I like this version much better than the album version. In fact, it was hearing this track on the radio that first made me a fan of Metric. I think all of their songs should be done like this.
It sounds more like a story when it's acoustic. It's what's so magical about Metric, the words don't necessarily create a picture it your head: it's what you can imagine that counts. :)
I love how beautiful the songs sound acoustically. I'd like to imagine this is how all Metric songs begin then they rock them up for release. I love the fast versions but love the acoustic more
2023 and remains one of Metric's best songs (especially this acoustic version)
That's how it is. This version is fantastic

Great comment
I learned how to play on my Nintendo switch
Ok but emily 😍 she's a gem.
Metric is under the "music that changed my life" category
Metric Needs An Acoustic Album. I love this song but i love the acoustic version even more
Their acoustic stuff hits me right in a place that i cant describe.
Here in 2022. Just remembered this song out of the blue. Used to watch this vid as a young man feeling the strength of the unknown and now still feel it in the richness of a known way. Self pity gone its more about saying hey recognize me in love like I know we are all made of love
Here in October of 2019. Toast to you mate, love your taste in music.

This version touches me so deeply. I can't explain it. Saw Emily with Metric live in Manchester last week and it was beyond amazing. This track acoustically just blows me away - it's one of my favourite songs of all time already.
Her voice is phenomenal!
Fuckin' A.
"After all this is done, who'd you rather be? " words to live by.
It was by far one of my favourite moments of the weekend. When the crowd was singing along with her.. it sounded perfect. I could of listen to that song for hours
Ugh, why did they take this off spotify... so good.
Emilty Haines has such an awesome voice, Even more so in acoustic settings I think. These types of songs really let her show how great her voice really is.

they captured something with this song especially this version of it. hard to put my finger on it. but i know it when i feel it. it’s like nostalgia and an epic calming greatness put together. love it.

Espero poder vivir esa experiencia, gracias por compartirla. Aqui, 4 años en el futuro
I normally don't like the acoustic versions of songs, but this is one of the few that is just as good or possibly better than the "original" version of the song.
Gimme Sympathy was the VERY first song I heard from "Fantasies" and it remains one of my favourites. Amazing job on the record!
her voice is heavenly ....angelic....i cant help but just listen to this again and again.......till i play again
This is hands down among my top three favourite songs EVER.
There is no comment I could leave that would do this song justice.
This is the most incredible song I've ever heard! I love the original version, but this one is just perfect 💚💚
Wow, this is where you realize what a lovely song this is on all levels.
Beatles were insanely popular for a while and their music will stand throughout time, but they ended up resenting each other and broke up.
Rolling stones weren't nearly as popular, but still tour with a huge fan base, and they're still friends who tour together...and most of them are still alive
I can feel it in my bones....
her voice is just so calming.
I'm an old school guy raised on Zepplin, The Beatles, and The Rollin' Stones.......These guys are amazing. Nice to see people still making "real" music.
2019 still here
amen! these and that 2005 concert in France are still like every-other-day in the rotation. that concert especially is great for car jams on the way to work in the early morning.

Pre-Chorus chords(we're so close...): 054050, 076070 (repeat x2)
The chorus gets complicated, cannot explain it here.
It's nice hearing the song raw and unmixed. This is how it sounded when it was written and by far the best way to enjoy it.
Oh Gawd ... this was 13 years ago ... im getten old
They sound very nice when it's just the two of them.

I can feel it in my bones ....seriously! that this is music made so perfectly it touches the soul....each and everytime u hear it!
Acoustic or not the song is amazing. She got a so good voice...just wow :)

the acoustic version is very elegant, her voice is beautiful.
Metric and some of the best art, performances, and music I have ever heard don't make me smile, laugh or cry, but simply make me shiver in a kind of haunting captivation.

Had to go out of the country away from my family for a medical treatment they don’t provide for ms in the US. Really found a lot of the emotions in this song that I felt through that experience. I'm working on it on guitar.
I like this version much better than the album version. In fact, it was hearing this track on the radio that first made me a fan of Metric. I think all of their songs should be done like this.
Simply put, amazing.

That's a great great song made even better. So so cool. Nice one guys.
Discovered her today. I am now a fan.
It sounds more like a story when it's acoustic. It's what's so magical about Metric, the words don't necessarily create a picture it your head: it's what you can imagine that counts. :)

I don't usually care about singers too much, but I gotta say Miss Haines, you are amazing. I love your work, as well as your work ethic. Keep it up!
I love how beautiful the songs sound acoustically. I'd like to imagine this is how all Metric songs begin then they rock them up for release. I love the fast versions but love the acoustic more
Sometimes I want something to amp me up, sometimes I want all the feels.
