So I grew up in Grand Rapids Michigan and we called them Crayfish also. Then I moved to New Orleans in 2005 and learned they taste great. Just don't call them Crayfish haha.... Here its Crawfish, Crawdad, Mud bug. Just found your channel and love the videos!
I was born and raised in Coopersville! :) We used to catch them in Deer Creek. Never ate one though.....
We have been on the lower side of the Roger’s dam south of Big Rapids. Interesting but a bit scary looking up at all that concrete. My favorite was Hoover dam and the tour deep inside the dam. 😊

What you hydro guys call wickets the gas turbine industry calls IGV (Inlet Guide Vanes) I'm looking for where you talk about how the right angle is determined, still working my way through the library
It blows my brain that a lot of the water is fed to farming, but yet kills all the fish.
Run off of fertilizer causes deoxygenation of the water.
how do fish fit though that grate? cleaning the bottom of the grate would help.

What was holding up the water in the turbine?
A temporary dam installed upstream on the other end of the intake canal. The turbine was dry at this point. He's working on the INTAKE side of the dam. :)
About time for new trash racks!
After watching several of these videos, I don't think those are in the budget. This is, like, four guys with hand tools who aren't afraid of filth getting a 100-year-old dam to work as well as they can make it work. That'll be much better than it did, but it's not a full restoration.
