Drummers who play a lot in the drum and bass style in the kit tend to have a ton of different snares, tambourines and sizzles for the different break sounds. Often they'll have much smaller bass drums (14-18) and maybe one tom max. Check out people like Johnny Rabb, Jojo Mayer, Dan Mayo, Ian Maciak and Peter Szendofi for killer examples
Nah man, since it's labelled he proceeded with caution...a couple of times. I made the same comment so I had to delete my comment and ammend it to yours. 👍🏾
Man your production is getting better and better! Love the idea of the tambo snare but would use this specific one as aux/fx snare only because of the sound. But the idea of combining proper snare a tambo is genious! Keep groovin'!!
4:54 you just gave me ultimate nostalgia man, one of my first drum professors ever played along to this because I was a huge anime nerd and had this track on my mp3 back in the day. Watching him play along to it perfectly made me realize how fucking dope drums are. Thanks for reminding me of that moment!
Dude why are you the actual funniest TH-camr on the planet. Honestly besides the fact that I freakin love drums and your are insanely good, your just an overall great personality. Also the album sounds sooo good already. I can't wait to hear it all!
I really enjoy watching your journey and progression on here, it takes a lot to not only play, but edit, and put together this channel. Really appreciate everything you're doing. Keep it up my man, much love!
Maybe it's just because I'm a drooling saxophonist but it sounds a little like a timbale that's tuned too high lol. Glad the music worked out thanks for using it man:)
It's basically a re-introduction of the snare from Sonor's Jungle kit about 15-20 years ago or so. Theirs also had a bottom head with a adjustable snare wires, really shallow shell. The jungle Kit was a 10" rack, 14" x 12" floor, 16"x16" bass, all maple or beech depending on the series/year
Dude the song at 6:35 is freakin sick, It sounds like some Dave Weckl groovin. Is there a full version? EDIT: I'm a moron! He said that its part of an upcoming album...what's the bands name!? Gotta have it when it drops!
Love the snappy sound of that snare and I totally agree on the idea putting it as your first tom! Made the groove slightly different in an awesome way. The effort you put again in a video, man I love you bro ❤️ aight, peace
Sonor did this 20 years ago with their Jungle Kit, which as I recall, Jack DeJohnette was an early adopter of. The Jungle snare was small, thin shelled with jingles all over, specifically made for drum n' bass. I'm surprised no one has evolved this idea into regular sized snares, and I love the idea of the floor tom/snare with jingles. Talk to your Dixon peeps.
Zack, please do a walkthrough of how you tune your drums. I mean the entire kit. I have seen the snare tuning vid and I'm quite curious how you tune the rest of the the kit. I'm a guitar player and I'm looking to start playing drums. I have no idea what to do yet. So yeah, at least I'd tune them right :))
Sounds next level with the clap stack Zack and your natural room verb. Fantastic d'n'b snare. So much so, I'm going grab one and multisample it for my SD3 rig. Your approach to linear licks at tempo is mad effortless. Keep killing. #clapstackzack
Got to love the "Dumb Ways to Die" theme (except with *JAZZ*). Love your content man, keep it up! You're such an awesome inspiration to all drummers out there!
Love track 2.. sounds very Protocol or Electric Band inspired.

At 3:44 I thought I was listening it fasted forward! Hahaha Liked the way you were simply trying things out and just being yourself bro! Keep it up! Cheers! ❤️👊🏾✨
Never seen such stuff before, sounds extremely interesting. Dixon is actually a pretty solid brand, surprised not more people play Dixon drums, you're literally the only one I know. Also I see ya on that new clap stack man
Interesting addition, would love to try it. Yooooooo please make a vid for us showing how your record your drums and all other audio. i see you rocking the Earthworks drum mics love em
Really interesting. While you were unboxing it, I was thinking that it's pretty one dimensional and a little gimmicky. But once you replaced it as your first tom, it brought a creative sound to the music. Pretty cool! And I will say go orange because I would normally say the blue, but I'm trying to think different and go against my own advice. :P
That drum key looks extraordinary, and although I’d absolutely love to have it, I really just need you know how much I appreciate you and your videos…. so much that I had to reach out.. thanks man
This sounds like something you’d hear in those drum n bass songs.
That's a good point. They're typically sampled and sped up, increasing the pitch, so a small snare with a little jingle jangle would work pretty well.

Yeah man. Took me back to that PPG intro. 🤣
Drum and bass is literally my favorite genre. This thing is perfect.
Check out KJ Sawka, he’s a brilliant Drum n Bass drummer! My favorite drummer!
zack: obsesses over the sound of gently cutting the box
proceeds to destroy everything the box ever worked for in life

🙏❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!

The humor is always on point as much as the ability playing, out of nowhere some Naruto song and the hit mark on the tambo 👌🏻
Lmao- it was so random but damn got me groovin 😂
Sonor built this about 20 years ago! It was called the 'Jungle Snare' (10x2"). Nice little drum.

Whats the name of that song by the way?
@@roth4916 Afternoon of Konoha
Dixon has been slept on too long, they make really cool stuff. Loving the content brother 😩🤠🦪👀📸
Fr bro like I want dixon me
Ok, who at Dixon paid you to make that comment? I'll make the same comment for $1.22 per comment made/ per video
Loving seeing more of Mingus the dog in the videos. I’m excited to see how the album turns out. Keep up the great work Zack!
Really appreciate the clap being in time with the beat at 4:26, well done
That's an awesome drum-concept + I can't WAIT for your new album! 🔥🔥🔥
Btw take the orange coloured ones, it fits the Set so well!

i love the tone. not only is the sound great but the tambourine aspect makes it pretty much perfect for drum n bass
That Snare looks so cool. Sounds great

2:06 caught me so off guard... zack is the embodiment of loud = funny and with his skills, I have zero complaints lmao
Wow!!!!!!!! A tamborine snare, that's awesome. I totally agree that i could be a side snare. That's amazing.
It's reassuring to know a drum master is still finding new and innovative ways to create sound
Mingus is a genuinely beautiful dog
Maybe it's just because I'm a drooling saxophonist but it sounds a little like a timbale that's tuned too high lol. Glad the music worked out thanks for using it man:)
Tambo tombo. *NICE* 😎👍

I know it's just arts and crafts for you but the things that you can do behind the kit amaze me honestly
bro you're genuinely one of the most talented drums I've ever had the pleasure of watching, that was fantastic
Wow! Amazing work sir. Fixing the drums and still drumming excellently
The album already sounds so good!🔥

I love your playing man, every time I watch you play it makes me want to play, thank you for being one of my biggest inspirations for drumming
6:35 getting strong persona vibes from that song! Can't wait to hear the new album :)
Persona fans when here jazz fusion: "This sounds like Persona!"
@@PoorStargazer true sometimes, but there's a specific chord in this song that makes it sound like persona a lot (just after 6:40)
1. Cut tape with knife
2. Obsess over the sound.
3. Destroy box like it stole something.
Can’t wait for your album! Sounds awesome!
I’m loving the reverb in your new place
That little thing is a nice new extra voice for any kit. In many ways better than just having a piccolo.
The way u turn chops into grooves is really something else.
whoa what a crazy sound with slight reverb in your room or what ever it is in your youtube mix. Dope brother

I’m not even remotely a jazz or funk drummer but I love Zach’s vids so much
That drum key looks great never seen one like that before . Dixon drums are definetly on some next level developments of drums

Cool key and the orange felts would look good with your kit, which sounds amazing by the way!!!
The dog is too gorgeous! Great drumming btw…
Orange - being a dutchy the orange is our native color! LOving the Tambo-Snare

Man you really are my most fav youtuber! You played my fav anime on my birthday and it sounds even better

That song you working on wit da boiz giving me big Casiopea vibes! Can’t wait for the drop!
Excuse me, but was the background music whilst changing the snare: "Dumb Ways To Die"? ICONIC ZACK!! Loved the drumming and vid 🙃
What ever/whenever this album will be, I can’t wait

Some killer jungle beats with this bad boy!
2:04 you should have said "snare drum on the tambourine"
Those snares are straight up dope!
bro your drumming is like genuinely insane
the cheeky hitmarker at 7:13 😂
Hysterical vid as usual. Big personality Like a smart funny kid from Nickelodeon grew up sort of and had a drum channel
Man, you’re so funny! Love to watch your vids. Mama sure is proud ;)
Groove.
1:35 Also orange, cause it would fit with your kit's color.
Your dog is the coolest thing in this video! :-)
