That was arguably USC's best defense during the Pete Carroll years - fast, aggressive and addicted to getting turnovers. USC had a basic, but very successful strategy for winning - Defense gets turnovers for a short field. Create mismatches on offense. The key to all of that was overall team speed. Their practices were at game level intensity so that when they came to play games, they were already conditioned for it. I've watched a lot of insider videos of Pete Carroll's Trojans. I've never seen a bunch of guys having so much fun. Pete's motto at the end of the 2002 season was, "We'll play anyone, anytime, anywhere." They were definitely the Honey Badgers of college football in those days. That's why other teams didn't want to play them.

Wow! I’m aware of the USC “dynasty” but I didn’t pay attention to this team. This defense was awesome!
They played weak competition. Good team, but espn hyped this team so much.
@@navynugget7 Hater
@@navynugget7 played Auburn lol. In every post you're riding this team for some reason, even bringing up 95 Nebraska lol
@@stylicho Auburn went 8-5, they weren't good! Yes, I brought up the Huskers of 95, because people think this Trojans dynasty is the greatest of all time and they couldn't be more wrong. Hell, this years Georgia team would've smoked them!
@@navynugget7 No they wouldn't lol they might of smoked the corn suckers though
Herschel Dennis was OFFICIAL💯
This USC defense was scary . The tough sec boys couldn’t hang 😂
To every idiot saying "What dynasty?"
They won 34 straight games at one point.
They were a 4th down stop away from 3 straight national championships, something no one does.
They finished in the top 5 for 7 straight seasons (2002-2008)
If that's not a dynasty then Alabama has had the only dynasty in the last 50 years which is a stupid thing to say.
If the CFP were around back then they easily 3peat!
From 2002-2008 USC finished in the Top 4 in seven straight seasons. 7 Straight PAC 10 Championships, 7 Straight 11+ Win Seasons, 7 Straight BCS Bowl Appearances, Won 2 National Titles and played for a 3rd, 3 Heisman Trophies, wire-to-wire #1 Ranking, 34 Game win streak, etc.
I remember Hershel Dennis. Pretty good back. Injuries hampered his career.
that staff was amazing, Carroll, Norm Chow, Kiffin, Sark, Orgeron...,
It also started the NCAA investigation into the program, which also started the Alabama dynasty.... I wonder what conference made a few calls to Indy?
THE game that started the USC dynasty was ASU 2002. That is when the fire lit. If you haven't heard about the "we believe" chant then you have no business declaring when the beginning was. This game in 2003 was just another bump in the road.
Hershal Dennis had 3 big RB's on his heels. Too bad he hurt his knee. Matt Cassiel got drafted because he was asked to throw to the WR's for the pro day and go noticied by Belichek. Oh ya, suck it Tuberville.
Reggie Bush in college was like the Rocket, hold your breath when he has the ball.
Only a handful of players compare: Johnny "The Jet" Rodgers, Tim Brown, and OJ
Fight on!
Truly miss the swagger of these USC teams
I miss the old days when usc used to be in the national championship picture every year hopefully this year lincoln Riley can coach them to a undefeated season
They haven't had one since the early 70's.
It's only the latest USC dynasty, and not the greatest. They claimed three national titles in the '70s, two national titles in the '60s, two in the '30s, and one in the '20s. Yes, these Pete Carroll teams were excellent, but so was the 1972 team, which might just be the best SC team of all time.
Yaaa but usc got screwed w the stupid bcs
@@moparjo_9753, who can argue with Don Vito? Your wise counsel is respected in football, and in other matters.
USC would of have had more NCs if the playoff system was introduced in 2003. That 2008 team was the best. That defense was nasty and would of teabagged Tebow.
They played weak competition, and were overly hyped by espn. They don't hold a candle to the great 90s teams like fsu, the U, Nebraska, and Florida and the great teams of the playoff era like Bama and LSU.
@Barney Weiss I didn't have to try, its just the truth. They wouldn't beat those teams.
@@navynugget7 o goodness haha. don't even bro. Just enjoy the dynasties and let it go lol. USC was sick.
@@markc2940 sorry pal, just the truth. You clearly never saw those teams. Not saying USC wasn't good, but they're not in the same class as those teams.
@@navynugget7 I have seen those teams. I would put usc against them any day! I guess we will never know until the next life :)
I've been a football guy all my life...the 1972 Team was great but I've never seen a better team in college than the 2002-3-4-5-6 teams......
I have a distain for Jason Campbell from his days as the Redskin’s QB.
When all the Cali kids went to USC and outta towners even wanted to come to SC. I been saying this if all the Cali top prospects went to SC it would be a dynasty.
Lienhart was 6’5” and 250. Geez, I didn’t realize he was that big.
Played basketball for Mater Dei
2003 a simpler time... A simpler time where football in Alabama ran through Aub... 🤢🤢🤢 Nope can't do it.
When USC is good they not only have the sophisticated offense and the QB to go along but their recruits also gets the bedt defemsive players in the country. Which are notmally residing in SEC and the Florida waters
That CBS intro theme is classic.
Wrong! It was the Cal game of 2002.
Man we were good.
Classic USC ... Fight on and go Lincoln Riley
#Fighton4Ever
2008 defense was the best
Crazy to think for about 5 years, the SC offensive line just destroyed defenders. You could see the opponents D line just wilt after they had a halftime to think about going back in and getting the snot knocked out of them for another 30.
🔥🔥🔥
And all dynasties come to an end.
I remember this game
USC 4life✌️✌️✌️✌️🏈🏈
Ooh do I remember this game. This was when USC was running over the SEC opponents they played. They ran over Arkansas the following two years after this. Mike Williams didn't do shit in the NFL, but in college that man was out there making opposing DBs his bitch.
He should have stayed for his 2004 season then enter the draft. Felt if he didn't lose his momentum by not playing 2004, felt he would have had a way bettter pro career.
His head was all screwed up. I remember Carol’s first season with Seattle, 08 I believe. Mike Williams LIT my Chicago Bears up! Lmao Made urlacher and the whole defense look foolish! A year later, he was like 220 pounds. Dang, I wish that dude made it.
Actually Arkansas won those games because of forfeit USC went on to lose there championships, heisman trophy , and forfeit all there games they are simply cheaters
Yes, back when they were cheating and recruiting illegally. Exactly, good memory!
@@jeffwatkins4901 that’s like saying a pizza place sells drugs because one dude got caught selling weed delivering pizzas.
2:05 they listed Leinart as 6' 5. 250 lbs . I didnt know he was a big as a defensive end. Lol
Very rare USC appearance on CBS
Really? I don't remember that
Dynasty started with Carson Palmer lol
......
How the hell have we sunk so damm low
Bruh imagine chancey Washington didnt get hurt bruh he was a beast bro the last 30 secs bruh so sad
This game is why I think even if Auburn faced off against USC in 2004 they would have won. It would have been way more competitive but correct me if I’m wrong the 03 Auburn team talent-wise was almost the same team! I think this team beats LSU if they would have faced then as opposed to Oklahoma.
It's a good day when you see Tommy Tuberville on the opposite sidelines!
This wasnt the game that started the dynasty lol. It was the Orange bowl against Iowa and really that entire year. The foundation was set during that season.
How about both of these teams going undefeated in 2004? Who would’ve predicted that on this day?
Birth of a dynasty. FIGHT ON!!!!!
Now they blow
First play for USC bam right in there mouths touchdown ✌️✌️✌️🏈🏈🏈
I think they got the wrong picture for Lendale. Unless he changed A LOT as he got older!
This is why they didn't want us playing LSU that year! We were just too Nasty ✌️ USC 23 Auburn 0
The dynasty started the year prior beating Auburn, ND and winning the Orange Bowl.
From ‘O3-‘06 Did USC only lose to CAL and Texas?? With Marshawn Lynch and Vince Young just playing out of their minds. Those are the only 2 games I remember.
Vince Young's knee was down!
Don't forget THE Aaron Rodgers was on those Cal teams with Marshawn
Dynasty coach was ROBINSON, and it started wayback, rose bowl, tradition..
Mckay - not Robinson!
If only if Butch Davis stayed at Miami. We would have more than likely gotten Miami vs USC sometime either in 03, 04 or 05.
The premise of this video is invalid! The USC dynasty was in the 60s/70s. Sure, they were good on the 00s, but I wouldn’t call it a dynasty and they haven’t been good since then!
Okay go get us the game footage then
Man, I miss Jason Campbell
Back when real games were played. Anytime anywhere!!!
When the media let teams get better rather than go "well, they can't beat Bama so we'll not show their games/put them in the CFP"
@Ty Calvert they have influence with the preseason polls and the polls leading up to week 8 when the committee/computers take over
@Ty Calvert teams do, that's why Clemson and LSU have won
But it's rigged for the SEC vs Everyone to be a championship game for the next 20 years
There dynasty started in the 60s,they used to pound ND in the 70s
1983-1995. Decade of dominance.
They became a national power beginning in the mid 1960s with tailback Mike Garrett.
Started in the mid-twenties with Howard Jones winning 4 National Championships at USC
S c come back, nd, la col. late 70,early 80??? Those were my own dynasty days! SC ,, rose bowl , dominant every year!! These young boys, emfamil smelling kids, I'm a ol skool, westcaost Triple Dbl o g star. !! Looking for that ticket stub,I have some were.

The USC win over UCLA at the end of 2001 started the dynasty.

This game was such a Heart Breaker. Auburn had the lead in the fourth quarter but could not run the clock out because Cadillac Williams was on the sidelines with leg cramps.+
Nah, wrong game man
Wrong Game Man! Auburn was shut out in this one!
STILL… TO THIS DAY…I CANT BELIEVE THAT WE BEAT SENATOR TUBERVILLE! 😆👀✌🏼
Defense was awesome. Lincoln Riley… note to self, it takes a strong defense to beat the SEC
Are you guys forgetting the dynasty starting in the early 60's with Beathard, Bedsole, Garett, Simpson, moving on to Cunningham, Allen, Davis, White etc, etc, etc?
U can make an argument the entire 2002 seasons started the dynasty.
LenDale Whote looks like he’s 16🤣
How many titles did they win in their best yrs? Sorry boys a dynasty is not a few great yrs and a couple of titles. Alabama 12yrs 6 titles and in running until end in the other 6 yrs. That boys is a dynasty , you had a good little run for a few yrs
Check your history usc been establish even before o j simpson days
USC was trash for a long time before this tho lol. That’s like saying the browns were the first NFL dynasty with Jim brown. Don’t mean much these days
Was the USC defense good? Yes.
But also, the Auburn offense was dull as dirt
I'm not a USC fan... but the USC tradition in football was built decades before this.
N WHO ENDED IT ????
U. T. n VINCE YOUNG !!!!!!!!!!
Funny how many played pro ball n jot along !!
USC was a dynasty ???
In the past 10 years PAC 12 just can’t compete with SEC to often...
SEC is bigger faster
Comes down to coaching bro.
@@peterrodriguez5245 comes down to recruiting, too. They snatch up a lot of these good recruits from the south that literally have one out to get their family out of the shit. These west coast kids just don’t have that mentality.
@@GovernorRiffRaff yea thats true. It does come down to recruiting too.. But recruits go where they can play and win. So a culture is built by a good coach. Alabama is a prefect example. Bama was towards the bottom of the SEC before Saban got there. Now they've been in the mix for the national title for the last 15 years.
SEC is overrated. Pack was whopping that ass back then. You think you guys would stop the lies.
