    When reassembling the top end of a Toyota 1mzFe there is only one thing that held me up a bit... when installing the timing belt I kept noticing that it wasnt aligned properly. I took it off and reinstalled it several times but just couldn't figure out what causing the issue. I figured out early on that the problem was between the alignment of the two cam sprockets but they looked to be bolted on properly. Finally, after an hour or two, I figured out that for some reason the rearward sprocket had to be installed the opposite orientation of the front one. After unbolting it and flipping it over reinstalling the sprocket nearest the firewall (I believe that's bank 2 in a toyota) the timing belt lines up perfectly. I hope this helps someone who is facing the same problem. I have put around 20k on that motor since the head gasket job and it runs like a brand new one

    I've had no luck timing this motor. For some reason it backfires on acceleration and as the lack of power and the running compression on that bank. I put the service bolt in the camshaft I align the cam lobes as described

      So you assembled the timing 180 out? Not sure about your specific job. Maybe a clogged cat on that bank?

      There's really no way to install belt with all pulleys 180 out. How can you match all the marks?

    This engine needs its oil change intervals cut in half... that goes double because this is one of the infamous sludge engines... I own two of them, over-maintaning this engine is the way to go if you want to keep it running for a long while

    Bro i got a cuestion and i hope you help me.when you remove the bolt from the gears and you rotate the crank shaft 18o degrees with the timing belt on it or before you install the t.belt?

    • @jaschalindesmith9525
      @jaschalindesmith9525  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      After you set the camshaft caps then you can release the service bolt. At that time you can rotate the camshaft assembly 180 and line up your marks for belt installation

    • @dilldowschwagginz2674
      @dilldowschwagginz2674 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Run a bolt through the threaded sprocket hole BEFORE you unbolt the bearing caps. You dont need to remove that bolt until you have reinstalled the cams and bolted them back down. At that point just make sure the sprockets line up (one dot - two dots) and that the crank is at TDC and install the timing belt. I rebuilt this same engine and I dont remember having to ever mess with variable cam timing like this. I did have one issue with timing belt alignment but I posted a comment about that above. If you're doing this job on a 1mzfe make sure to read that comment

    I removed camshafts from Lexus v8 and forgot to lock the exhaust scissor gears and now there is bad noise when I start the engine, how can I fix the camshaft gear that is making noise

      Joseph Khambule you have to remove it to load that gear again. They are designed that way to keep it quiet and take up any gear lash

      Find the pdf user's manual for your car, or the chiltons or haynes manual, Toyota dealerships used to use books called BGB standing for "big green book" they are probably no longer green and the old ones are rare to come by.

      jascha lindesmith I take off the engine of my Toyota sienna for repair the torque converted of the gearbox and the engine still off for a pair of weeks then when I put in place again and I went to drive, the oil pressure light come on and I stop inmediatly but the engine make a very loud noise that comes to the back valve cover , the pump was change 7 months ago... I use full sinthetyc oil 10w30 valvoline and only have 500 mile with that change, the engine is recently rebuild, and before the ride, when I Rev the engine between 1200 rpm to 2, 000 rpm the engine make a rattle noise in the back valve cover like a not lubrication but not that loud to be worried and so, I take apart the valve cover and all looks good, what can you recommend me to do?

    • @jaschalindesmith9525
      @jaschalindesmith9525  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reyes Jou sounds like a lifter problem. It's possible that the timing belt wasn't installed correctly and that could cause excessive noise.

    • @jaschalindesmith9525
      @jaschalindesmith9525  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reyes Jou if the oil light is on then it's not getting pressure = engine damage. A plugged oil sump can cause this or just oil pump failure. If it was from autozone it's likely it failed

    • @jaschalindesmith9525
      @jaschalindesmith9525  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reyes Jou I have also seen someone put the head gasket on wrong which blocks the oil port for the head. You can only find out if you take it all apart. I have seen felpro head gasket set that had wrong head gasket. They're supposed to be different due to the oil hole. Possibly someone wasn't paying attention and assembled it wrong.
