Over the past three decades, China has been a part of a UNESCO-led group of 30 countries working to restore Angkor Wat. Chinese experts from a variety of fields have already completed the restoration of two temple sites and are preparing for a new project. These restoration efforts have helped make a significant economic contribution to Cambodia's tourism industry, but they have also helped preserve a site that embodies important elements of Cambodian culture. The ancient Cambodian martial art of Bokator is one such element depicted on bas-reliefs at the site, inspiring the younger generation to help keep this tradition alive. #CatchingAWave #ASEAN

muaythai originated from the khmers. the thais adopted all aspects of khmer civilisation when they migrated from china to the khmer empire. they adopted the khmer script, dance, martial arts, formal words, greetings, clothing, architecture, musical instruments, religion, cuisine. just compare the zhuang of china to the thai in thailand to notice the huge difference. without khmer culture the thai would look like the zhuang people in south east china

The Chinese obsession with recording everything is really a blessing to other ancient cultures. Chinese records validate their existence.

The Angkorians wrote many inscriptions on tens of thousands stone stele that tells vividly about the lives of the society but most khmer Epigraphist either got killed during the Khmer rouge or are limited for the massive work

@@imperialkhmer6146 So it's really lucky that the Chinese can still read their ancient documents and help to discover the past.

@@PChan-yt4uf Of course. The Chinese documents are also useful as they tell the lives of the people back then. I'm just saying that the Khmers also had their own way of documenting their society both in stone inscriptions and paper palm leaves.

@@imperialkhmer6146 Of course, I have no doubt about that. All ancient cultures had their way of recording things, just that we may no longer be able to read it or even recognised them as scripts.

These ancient cultures hold much for our understanding. I'm glad to see respect shown for the refurbishing of Angor Wat. Khmer people suffered heavy losses during U$a foray into the region some 60 years ago. Thanks to Chinese & anyone else supporting this culture.

Cambodia governments need to free themselves from Vietnam’s grips,or it will never be developed. Vietnam knew well that,it has fully control over Cambodia,so-called governments.
