Those were very healthy and stealthy giraffes. They could have stood a chance if they were weak or sickly.
Lesson: when confronting your greatest danger do not stop or retreat. Fight with your chest, hands and legs and take of like a brand new Ferrari, that's survival!

I've seen Lionesses taking this risk by jumping on a Giraffe trying to take it down knowing it can result in injury, but sometimes it works, and when it does the reward is worth it. That isn't a baby Giraffe though, young yes but far from a baby.
If you practice Judo n Brazilian Jiu Jitsu n Sambo then you know what it is timing in punching n kicking. Timing is often more telling than power. The adolescent giraffe got the perfect timing which result in ippong or tko in judo. Hopefully you get my point.
