Something you can look into doing is a distance-based physics LOD. All those objects don't need to have a rigidbody/collider if the player can't even see them. That should help when loading into new chunks. Have loaded objects start in a sleep state then enable physics as the player draws near. Good work!

@@code4broke you'd be surprised man. The indie genre is growing rapidly and everyone is here for it. Seems like you're passionate about your game, so most likely you'll produce something fun and unique.
Even small cult like followings can grow. Heck look at kenshi. Games ancient at this point but still gains in popularity with an ever expanding mod scene.

I love this, im getting into game design and animation myself for a game concept im trying to get off the floor, seeing how daunting it can be especialy since im going at it solo, that it makes you wish for easily accesible preformance drugs :D
Factions exist already, they just need to be fleshed out, it's on the roadmap though for sure.

Seeing the enemy dragging the corpse to a cage was pretty nice.
It's basically a state machine managed by a priority queue of different tasks ordered by urgency, NPCs react to "seeing" different things by adding tasks to the queue and then sorting it.

I feel you'd gain a lot from Swarming, and add an ecology, where swarms of animals may attack in a huge swarm, but flee when with a few. Or where you may ally with a tribe on conquest, as they move to a new area, and lose grace with them, when you anger their leader. Or where certain animals migrate according to seasons, so to survive you must kind of follow these birds, bison or zebras. Things like that.
All that type of thing is my little design document, my intention is to have A.I. behave based on needs, so, when you see a certain monster that's always in a swamp for example, he's there because he eats something that grows there or it provides something he needs rather than just being placed there. Same with the humanoids, seeking food and attacking others based on what they need.
@@code4broke You could even have a swamp monster important for the ecology. It may want to eat you, but kill it and the environment suffers. So you have to protect what wants to eat you. This is happening with sharks nowadays.
I also have schizophrenic hallucinations!!! So relatable!

Some gameplay ideas:
1. Grabbing and throwing people/objects
2. Removing limbs and organs (eyes,teeth, arms, kidneys, etc)
3. capturing enemies (tying them up) / incapacitating them
4. Feature 2. on subjects which are one of feature 3. or dead
5. trading captured enemies
6. slavery? For resource gathering etc
7. force feeding/using items to enemies under one of feature 3.
8. breeding system of captured enemies like horses to breed stronger slaves? This could be a lone feature of a small game itself
so basicly rimworld?

I like how examina handles scattered items by freezing them in place after adjusting to their position. Your stagger system reminds me of dark souls 3 or Elden Ring, without poise and hyper armor mechanics.
😂The aestetic makes me want to go on boss raids and dungeon raids, searching for elemental climate hurdle based structures requiring boss keys to enter.⚔️ I imagine getting soulslike invasions in those higher level structures.
🗿Careful with adding skills or spells. Magic is so hard to balance unless you treat it like a stamina system. The spam could just be mitigated with a much slower mana regen in that regard. I say this, hoping for pvp in your games, like a rust base builder.

New here, this game looks really cool, will this have a fortress mode like Dwarf Fortress were you don't have direct control of the characters but you give orders to them to fufill? And how deep do you intend to go with individuals, will they have more complete personalities and histories like Dwarf fortress characters or more simple like Rinworld.
Very cool, i can't remember but is there any quest system or any goals to achive in this? cause i think that would be very important to get down early on

Also are your characters not just class objects already built from a consistent base class? It's generally easy to serialize unique class fields
with some genuinely thought out progression i could get addicted to a game with graphics like this so it's probably gonna be a day one purchase for me lol
edit: does it make sense to use sprites instead of physics objects for items? does that save physical space for more objects or does it do the same thing?

As an aside, I kind of hate a lot of the Starfield criticisms. The randomly generated worlds in the game weren’t meant to be chock full of fully-fledged content. I truly don’t know what gamers were expecting. Gripping content no matter where you go? It’s just unrealistic.
Idk about anyone else, but I understood the nature of the game from the jump: that there was the curated content on select worlds… and then there was randomly generated planets where you could find resources to mine, a place to build a settlement, and the odd bandit camp to raid. Like guys… you can’t just have “fallout NV” levels of story everywhere you go.
I kind of hate the poor reception that game got because I’d really love a sequel. Hopefully they’d learn from the first one and make it even better. Not enough sci fi RPGs

Is to localize it. Much like in real life. The "GLOBAL" economy is less complex then you think. If you want to make X but X is already saturated in the given region somewhere it's nonexistent. So ore in a mining town is cheap and abundant. While would you look at that three towns over there is no mine and they are in desperate need or your resources. Hike the price by a "Reasonable" amount and bam economy.
Now as the currency's name and their levels it can either be in barter or in a representative from. Like eyes tongues or blood stained parchment. To avoid inflation just don't allow for Infinite generation. One BSP requires the material and preferably the person's own blood. Eventually leaving them dead.

Is your game situated in a post apocalyptic world like kenshi? or more of a fantasy like dwarf fortress? Just curious, as long as it isn't zombie apocalypse :)
It's high fantasy, Tolkein type goblins, ogres, ect.
will it be multiplayer though, the big thing these games are all missing
It's not the focus but not off the table. It may just be local co-op though rather than full on online, that would be much easier to implement. Steam play together could hopefully handle playing over the net with that set up. We'll see.
Question any possible issue with hardware bottleneck ?. Kenshi and rimworld had plenty of these issues. Do i'm just curious how you handle the engine on that issue
Yeah that's always going to be a a concern when you make something complex like this, it's tough to say until I get everything up and running, but there's always a way to better optimize and it's a skill set I have so I'm confident I'll figure something out.

In my project I've reached the same problem where implementing save/load feature has been a nightmare, any advice for a shitty programmer?
In the last video I made I talked about the serialization solution I used, this 3rd party thing called MemoryPack, turns out it's quite legit. It has support for serializing some Unity objects like Vector3s and animation curves out of the box. But mostly the trick is separating the data and managing dependencies.
i wish games would explore a different way to generate worlds than perlin noise. its random but not random at all. very repetitive and not fun to explore.
Hmmmm. You sir are my fuck it point. I've been interested in Game development for a long while but kinda never wanted to know how the sausage was made always fearing that I would become disillusioned to it. But I cut my teeth on early special edition told software and the original NMM. It was HEEELLL. Three full days of not knowing what the fuck I was doing and constantly getting CTD. that's crash to desktop and honestly it shouldn't of taken half those three days to figure it out.
With the advent of Good AI image generation and the undoubtedly coming 3d ai gen modeling I'm throwing my hat into The ring. Not for profit just to have fun. After all Modding Skyrim Then subsequently Trouble shooting for hours on end was the best part about the game.
