- Virgin relaxers are becoming more common. Watch as Design Essentials takes a client from natural to chemically straight in the most healthy way possible. Straightening natural hair can be disastrous if you don't take the proper precautions that allow clients to retain some fullness and strength.

I wish Ms. Alicia could go state to state and teach each stylist!! If not; this should be a mandatory video that all new students and stylist should watch three times and then get tested on the procedure/technique!! They claimed to be taught it but I don't see it being performed in the salons!!

I’m sorry but after it was blow dried it still looked like when she sat in the chair. The part in the middle was not flattering and sure that’s why she was pissed looking like Rosa Parks. The end when she was smiling it looked better.
I have never seen such a clean and orderly application. I expected slop to be everywhere especially with her hair being so long.

I followed these steps on my virgin relaxer just now and it came out great. It is nice and straight but at the same time I still have some texture which I adore :D Thank u so much for sharing

The results were beautiful...idk what was going thru the model's head at the time, but she got a head full of gorgeous relaxed hair now. And the care that was put into the process was bangin. I could do with some of that too.

She threw me off because my understanding is that you apply to the roots 2nd and pull thru to the ends last reducing the risk of over processing her ends seeing as they are extremely porous and reducing the risk of breakage.

For a virgin relaxer that’s the way I was trained too. By putting it on the roots it processes faster because of the heat the scalp gives off.
Y'ALL on here going back and forth trying to debate why she looks upset and y'all have somehow come to the conclusion that it's because she didn't want a relaxer , when obviously she wanted a relaxer so she got one. MAYBE she was upset because she knew natural Nazis will be watching this video and picking her apart IDK. I swear some of y'all are the worst and I'm a natural myself , about to go back to relaxers because it's way too time-consuming constantly doing your hair in the name of pleasing a bunch of judgmental folk who are not going to pay for the upkeep of your hair in the first place. I cannot stand when people care so much about what other people want to do to their own hair. Natural is not always great. Natural hair can be just as damaged and Even after spending Top Dollar on all these natural hair products (which takes forever just to apply) the hair can still end up so tangled , dry and just plain messed up. PLEASE let people do what they want! If you constantly have to cake gels , creams and add heat to your hair to maintain it , it's not really completely natural either. NATURAL would mean it's in it's full kinky state , WITH NO alteration to it , so most of us are not even really natural.

Sounds like you're frustrated that your natural texture isn't doing what you thought it would do. It doesn't matter how much time or product you invest. Until you accept your hair for what it is and it's characteristics there will be frustrations. No judgement, just advice.
To me Natural Hair means your own hair, without wigs or weave...whether there is a perm in it or not.
Even though it's a demo, it look like you moving slow. I'm getting reminded of my relaxer days and how I didn't like it because I'm kinda tender headed and burned easily.

I used to be a model. It's such a competitive job, specially now, that sometimes you have to take whatever comes. I feel so sad for her, but she looks beautiful and she can always stop relaxing if she wishes to and star over. (Easier said than done)

Thanks for this video. I just realized that Design Essentials is Black owned and so I tried some of the products this weekend..all I can say is OOOOOOHHHHHHH! By far the best products I have used! So worth the price. I have been back to the website 3x. I was going to use up all my other products, but why??? The Design Essentials is exactly what my hair needed! I can't wait to start my new hair journey with the products!

I wore a jheri curl in the 80's but my curl look like a wet set. The style that was done on the model I saw the look but it looked frizzy and the roller were to large maybe the purple I think there purple may have been better or flexi rods. What do think I have been a cosmetologist for 35 years as for the frizziness maybe the booster wasn't left on long enough or neutralizer long enough it could been anything.
PLEASE HELP. I just did my relaxer and the person leftit in for almost 2 hours (it's a long story) but basically now it's like textlaxed, the roots are underptocessed and the ends are puffy. I want to do a corrective relaxer in about 2 months but some of my strands are relaxed super straight (the middle). Besides chopping all my hair off, what can I do to rectify this?? Do you have any recommendations?

It can be straight or curly that's how it be when I relax my hair with the Ores relaxer kit you can just add more activator or perm rods with more activator it's a perm and relaxer that's what she has in her hair
And add more activator in the relaxer but the shop has their own way of doing the job

Usually the client would have on a mask so you wouldn't be able to see her facial expression. Also, the client in most of the videos are looking down at their phone. She has to keep looking in the camera. She has nothing to occupy her time while she got her hair processed. That's why she has a poker face. It would be stressful faking a grin.

I 'm a huge fan of design essentials relaxer and the product because I some their and I love I know whether I should design essentials relaxer but the only thing they don't have is the super because I have hair the reason why I don't want to the regular because might take the relaxer but I don't want to box relaxer I just want the virgin relaxer but accord to I hear they say it makes the hair healthy and fuller from the inside and outside what ever what my mind told me or I can elasta qp relaxer the virgin one
