      Oh it's a ton of fun, for future reference just know that these canal fish aren't as easy to catch as they seem in TH-cam videos, thanks for the support!

      Thanks for the tips, I have a lot of learning to do regarding south Florida fishing. Hoping to have my kayak down there later this year, and a cast net is definitely on the list.

    Beauty berry plants, the leaves are great for mosquitoes. The berries have an astringent smell. I have a large river in my backyard and mosquitoes are everywhere. Hope this helps you out.

      Great to know, I’ve seen those around and they are definitely true to their name, but didn’t know they were a natural mosquito repellent. I’ll have to try using it sometime, thanks for the helpful tip!

    Alright I'm coming down to south Florida tomorrow for 5 days. I'll be turkey hunting in big cypress but I'm really hoping to find a few canals or culverts to fish exactly like this. No idea where to go exactly but I'm sure there's a million little spots full of fish. Peacock bass is my target

    • @GavinGalka
      @GavinGalka  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Awesome, Big Cypress is a beautiful place and its been pretty nice down here. You shouldn't have a hard time finding spots to fish, keep an eye on Maps/Google Earth, hope your outings are successful.

      I agree, there are so many species. Say what you will about the exotics and nonnatives, but they make for some surprising catches.

    Heading down that way from Louisiana, would you care to send me a pin where I can fish off the dirt roads? I fished tamiami but off that crazy hwy and I'll have elderly dad with me so I want to get off the road. Thanks for any help

    • @GavinGalka
      @GavinGalka  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hope you will be understanding of the fact that I do not share any pinned locations. However, I can try to help the best I can without sharing a specific location. Many dirt road spots we found had an open area for fishing access. These were secondary roads off of Tamiami and generally at culverts or bridges where water could pass under the road. Other spots with good access are the boat ramps on I-75. I don't know how familiar you already are with these but they are generally safer to fish since your back is to a parking lot rather than moving traffic.

    • @GavinGalka
      @GavinGalka  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not willing to share this spot, however the best advice I can give is use google earth to find nearby canals. Spots with stronger current are usually where the larger fish hang out.

    Where's this at. Coming to Naples this weekend

    • @GavinGalka
      @GavinGalka  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Man, I just left Naples and flew up to Michigan. Now I don't post exact fishing spots but these are open areas along the two main highways that run through south Florida and that second spot is just one of the many public boat ramps along I-75. Definitely map out some canals around where you're staying with google earth, places with high flow will generally have the best fishing. Also, don't overlook spots to do some wade fishing inshore. My buddies and I have been able to find some good speckled trout so far this winter. Tight lines!
