"Comparison is the thief of joy" - so true in all we do.
💯%
I would add - if you're not happy with the finished result, don't be afraid to "frog it". There will always be another use for the yarn.
That's a great piece of advice! Thank you! 🧶
I agree. I would rather undo something than have a finished project I am unhappy with!
Great tips! I'm very fortunate that my younger sister never really stopped fiber crafting after we learned around age 5. She had 35 years experience when I started again and gave me these same pearls of wisdom early on in my knitting journey. Being a very adventurous beginner means I've made all kinds of mistakes but l learned so much and it's so satisfying when it starts working out correctly. A tip I've learned the hard way: Don't start knitting or crocheting if you don't want to end up ripping out a few(hundred) stitches 🐸. No one's perfect and it's just part of the process.
That's such a great tip!! Ripping back is just part of the process!! 🧶🧶🧶
“Weave your ends in right away” oh no!! I feel so called out 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
These are some really good tips! THANK YOU!!
You're so welcome! ❤
You are a huge inspiration for me!
Awwww! Thank you!! 💞
Me too!
Crocheting/knitting every day even when it's only for 10-15 minutes really helps you improve ❤
So true!! 🧶🧶🧶
I just startet crocheting a few weeks ago and I am so invested in my new Hobby. I just found your Account and you make me even more excited ❤ 😊 I have learned so much from you, thank you!
Awww! That's awesome!! It's such a wonderful hobby!! 🧶🧶🧶
I always find new skills to learn... Or even a new trick to make my project better... I'm excited to do my project most of the time, but sometimes i end up losing that excitement when i took too long to finish the project, but i just need to find new motivation to finish the project.
I'm still beginner (less than a year of crocheting at the age of 39) so i don't sell my project yet, only made them for my family and friends
Thanks so much for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
“Comparison is the thief of joy.” This is so true. Frugal Queen in France said it on her channel a while back, in a different context, but it is spot on advice in both situations. Thank you for all the good advice!
Thank you so much for sharing! It's a good reminder for us all! It's still something I have to regularly remind myself of! 🧶🧶🧶
Excuse me but “crochet only what I want” & “finish 99% of projects” conflicts me because by the time I’m halfway I want to start a different project lol
Haha!!! You have a good point!! 🧶🧶🧶
That's why I have downloaded her journal lol I now plan out things so I don't start things half way and get overwhelmed withe the wip amount. i do usually have a hat or a scarf as a easy side project though lol
@@velvety2006 🥲
@@velvety2006wow, crocheting something easy, like a scarf as a side projekt is a great idea, thanks!
You are such an inspiration! I was gifted a Scandinavian colorwork pattern book. Can you suggest an online class or tutorial for best tips, tricks and practices? I'm a fairly advanced knitter but fear of colorwork is holding me back.
Oh how fun!! And yes, I highly recommend the Stranded Knitting class from Knitography Farm. She is an expert Norwegian knitter and you won't be scared of colorwork after the class! ❤
Great & useful tips , you're a huge drive for me because you're so passionate about this subject 💝 Thanks Elise
Awww!! Thank you!! 🧶🧶🧶
Recently i bought an inexpensive pack on 6 Plastic crochets (3€) and i never imagined how good they can be. At first they was not good to use but the more i used them the more the yearn polished the end of the crochet and now they are smooth like butter ! (Half way through my baby blanket i noticed it)
That is an interesting observation!! Thank you for sharing!!! 🧶🧶🧶
I think the biggest thing I've learned over the past few months learning crochet is somewhat contrary to many pieces of advice. I'm no expert, but this might help someone else.
They say you should frog a piece if you're not happy with it, but I've found the opposite is true (assuming you have enough yarn to just start over).
Frogging takes time if you're really far into a piece, and you might get halfway through redoing the piece and realize you liked the old one better.
Also, depending on how you crochet, the yarn can be unraveled and used for something else just as easily from a WIP as from a skein.
So yes, dont be afraid to frog, but also don't assume that's the only option.
Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶
Hiii i really love you ! U help me daily with my crochet ❤ Ur my inspiration! Tomorrow I’m doing a haul of yarn 🤣 I crochet too much.. But I have fun 🤪 I wanted to ask; do you have a technic to make eyes for a toy or plushy if I don’t have safety eyes? (My mum says I don’t need them; RIP me) 🙃
I loveeee u!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Awww! Thank you! I have a lot of information about what to do as an alternative to safety eyes in this video: th-cam.com/video/now77cp3W0E/w-d-xo.html 👀
@@EliseRoseCrochet thank you very much❤❤❤❤
I had to add a rule about time limits. I wasn't doing my body and health any favors by crocheting for hours without moving. I give myself three hours in the morning and sometimes I sneak in another hour during TV time. Also, Elise has certainly been an inspiration. I've followed her for quite a while and she's always had an infectious attitude toward learning something new.
So true! We should move our bodies more! And thank you for your kind words! 🧶🧶🧶
I weave in as I go and someone called me crazy. I think it's crazy to weave in hundred of ends at the end lol.
Me too! 🧶🧶🧶
7 ur my Inspiration im 13 learning crochething so yeah 😊😊😊
Her : “Finishing 99% projects I start”
Me : 😬
Awww! That's ok!! ❤️❤️❤️
🎉🎉👍Thank you Elise this is very uplifting! 🥳
You are so welcome! ❤️❤️❤️
"Weave in your ends"
Me, looking at my granny square project with ~900 ends hanging from it: 😶🌫️
Oh no!!!!!! 🙈
2 good rules, don't keep working on your project when you are tired, you'll make mistakes and not even notice....and the 2nd is don't over work your hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders/eyes, get up every 40 minutes or so, walk around and shake it out and look far away..😂
Very good advice! Thanks for sharing! ❤
How do you find the best yarn for the project? I have so much trouble identifying the yarn of the project then so much trouble sourcing that yarn when I’m in the store because not all yarn is labeled with weight/ply/type. I bought 3 yarns yday and NONE are labeled with their ply
You can do the WPI test. I talked about that in a couple of my latest videos! But you can also just Google it. It will let you know the weight of the yarn. 🧶🧶🧶
Comparison was my big problem when I first started but i was only 8 when I was learning. I don't really know how to knit but I'm interested in learning. I just taught myself how to use a knitting loom!! They are pretty easy and quick. I think ill definitely be using it more often.
Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
I love your tips! A lot of what you say I can relate to… and we all have to give ourselves a little grace and not beat up ourselves so much! You're one of my favorite and inspiring creators!!❤❤
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
These are great tips and can be applied to any creative endeavor 💗❤️💕!
Thank you! Totally agree!! ❤️
I always buy the yarn on impulse when I walk through the yarn section then find a project for it 😂😅
I'm glad that works for you!! There are so many pretty yarns out there! 🧶🧶🧶
So true!! And I absolutely love your work!! So cool❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
So nice! I do a lot of these! Yet I'm still a little intimidated to try new things and as a mom of 3 youngn's it's hard to gift myself that time to crochet but it absolutely makes my whole day better when I do 💜🧶💜 especially when I've made something I never tried before
I totally get it! When my children were small I was lucky to get 10 minutes to myself every day!! Hang in there, it gets better and some day you'll find yourself with a lot more time on your hands!! 🧶🧶
Nao importa a nacao encatada demais pelo crocher e minha grande expiração
❤️❤️❤️
You are one of my inspirations... thank you!
Awww, thank you so much!! 🥹🥹🥹
I LOVE watching you!! I just wish I understood what some yarns are, like what's DK yarn and worsted weight yarn? All I see are people saying use then in projects but don't show the yarn and what the label says so I can look for it 😖☹️
Here's a great article that explains what it all means: sarahmaker.com/yarn-weights-guide/ 🧶🧶🧶
@LePetitSaint Crochet I just checked the page out and thank you SO much for the information!!
I love these rules❤ As a complete beginner, I'm going to adopt them😅
Wonderful! 👏👏👏
What’s the yarn shown when she says “perfect colours make me…”?
That stinks! 🧶🧶🧶
Hello from San Gabriel valley California. Just love you
Hello!! Thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️
Hello! I renewed my interest in crocheting/ knitting and I’m so grateful to have found you! I’m starting all over again. I learned how to crochet when I was 8 from my adopted grandmother, and knitting in high school but I always abandon my projects. My knitting teacher in H.S. advised me to finish what I started and here I am. Thank you so much for your “purls” of wisdom!😊
I always weave in my ends as I go but my problem is is I don't try anything new. I keep making blankets everybody in my family is sick of blankets. Thank you.
Sounds like you're ready to start learning new projects! 💛
Maybe start with a scarf? They are just smaller blankets after all and you can learn how to do fringes (super easy) do them in your game fav colors and BOOM new gifts! 😊
You can do it Cheryl 💜
But, well, just do what makes you happy. I think crocheting should be about feeling good. If your family doesn't appreciate your work - why not sell them or donate them? Find the people who appreciate you and your work. 💜
❤ Great advice ❤
Glad it was helpful! ❤️

Do you think it's harder to crochet left handed?
I really don't know. My daughter is left handed but she decided to learn right handed since there were a lot more tutorials for her to watch. But there are lots of crocheters who are left handed and enjoy the craft!! 🧶🧶🧶
Great rules! I don’t have all of yours but I do share some.
Awesome! Thank you! 🧶🧶🧶
Good advice and what a darling yarn corner!
Thank you! ❤
Great advise. I especially love the last one 😊
Glad it was helpful! 💓
Great tips, most of them I practice for sure!
Glad you like them! 🧶🧶🧶

done! i found this channel!
Awwww, thank you!! 🧶🧶🧶
Where can you find free classes and courses I only started crocheting 2 days ago
You can get a one month free trial to Skillshare with my link. There are fantastic classes there!! 🧶 Check the description box of this video: th-cam.com/video/zOMSeOAjvaY/w-d-xo.html ❤️
@@EliseRoseCrochet aww wow thank you I’ll look at that now thank you so much really wasn’t expecting that
My greatest problem is I don't know the right yarn for the project
Another tip that someone really should have told me when I first started crocheting and knitting: relax👏your👏hands👏
Fr, my stitches were so tight and my hands would get cramped
Yes!! I started our way too tight too!! 🧶🧶🧶
💖💖💖
💗💗💗
Fantastic advice ! Thank u. 💗🙏
You are so welcome! 🧶🧶🧶
Aww… really love #10. It’s SO easy to compare to others, but SO hard to appreciate my own skills ❤️❤️❤️
Yes is it! ❤️❤️❤️
Such a good video and a fantastic recap!!
Thank you! ❤
For ends, I find it easier sometimes to sit down I just do ends for a while. I did this when I did my granny square blanket. I would do all 20 of a color then sit down and so them in at once. But seriously, don't put off sewing the ends in. I have a lot of tips and tricks for different yarns if anyone needs help
That's a great technique for weaving in ends! Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
Does anyone have any yarn recommendations for amigurumi?
I follow most of these buttttt ... My tools are absolute crap 😅 I'm knitting a full cable sweater with the cheapest made wood and rubber circle needles, using a stitch marker as a cable needle... And I still love the craft with a passion ❤❤
Wonderful! 🧶❤️🐑
All excellent suggestions and I appreciate your enthusiasm 😊👍🏼🧶
Thank you! ❤️
Hi thanks for the rules. I just want to know, if there are joint pains crocheting everyday how will you overcome those.
I've got some videos on my channel about that: th-cam.com/video/HsLEkRv8vG4/w-d-xo.html 🧶🧶🧶
I have a super intricate blanket made with yarn so thin it’s more like thread, it’s like a lap blanket size and super intricate…only problem is I finished it like nine months ago and still have hundreds of ends to weave in…I learned that lesson the hard way too😅
Oh no!!!! I hope you finish it!! 🧶🧶
“Comparison is the thief of joy” Very true! Not to mention that all the knitters and crocheters started off somewhere. They were all beginners at one point ❤
Exactly!! 🧶🧶🧶
Yes weavin dem ends😂😂😂😂
Yup!!! 🪡🧵🧶
Absolutely. I never learned lace knitting. Next adventure ahead of me.
Ooh! How exciting! 🧶🧶🧶
I want to try this skill
Thank you! 🧶🧶🧶

Huge inspiration. My parents don't want me to crochet because it would only cost me money especially because I am a college student. I only want myself to be happy and hopefully earn money while doing what I love.
Question: Do you crochet clothes?
I don't really crochet clothes but there are a lot of others who do. Everyone deserves to have hobby and a way to relax!! I hope you're able to get some yarn for yourself and make all the things you want! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet you're so kind... Thanks for the encouragement
Excellent!
Many thanks! 🧶

Great advice.

Great tips!!
Thank you!! ❤️
I am mainly a crocheter and I can knit hats, scarves and dishcloths -but with knitting I am limited with some stitches.
THANK YOU! I honestly needed this reassurance, I’ve been feeling insecure with my skills, I’ve been crocheting for a few months and I always notice the small details, and I always put myself down for it, but I try to tell myself that I’m still trying to improve 🥲
I'm so glad it helped! I promise you will be so glad you kept working on your crochet skills! You'll be amazed where you are in just a few months! 🧶🧶🧶
