From Wikipedia: The Gloucestershire Wassail, also known as "Wassail! Wassail! All Over the Town", "The Wassailing Bowl" and "Wassail Song" is an English Christmas carol from the Gloucestershire region of England, dating back to at least the 18th century, but may be older.
Now, this is the wassail song that we need for those rowdy Christmas parties!!
That’s exactly what they use it for! 😂🎅🏻🎄
I love it! My wife had never heard this song before, I was flabbergasted!
Awesome! That’s was part of some of the song choices on the album, finding songs that were lesser known and recording those so that people could hear them. 😊
Myself and other allotment holders are going down to wassail our apple and fruit trees this evening so I’m looking for songs for us. We’ve got cider, raspberry gin and apple cake. Wish us good luck and Wassail!
Love this! Gonna put it up on the big screen at my 🎄 party this Sunday!😃
That's awesome! I hope you have a great time!
A friend from Japan knew this tradition but I was the only English person in my family who had heard of it. We sang the first verse at school in the 1960s. I wonder if modern schools teach traditional songs?
I can ensure you that the tradition is still alive
They don’t. Homeschooling is essential.
I really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing.
I was in the Quebec outback in the 1980's the day before Christmas and the local Quebecois were singing this song in
French in the one tavern in town. (It sounds even better in French, Tony Meade, maybe some time you might give it a go)
The locals were very friendly and included us in the festivities, we had a great time.
Very cool!
@@tonymeademusic Thanks pal and thanks for sharing this music.
Aussie here. Quebec has an "outback"? Ri-ight... 🤣
@@twoflyinghats Far beyond Oz, the term has entered general usage for the "sticks", isolated areas far from any large towns, of which
Quebec has much of, the province is huge. I trust you weren't being a wowser and are just pulling my leg, pull the other one it plays
Waltzing Matilda. Think of how many American words have entered the Australian vernacular, hell the currency is
dollars. Australians spent $450 million on Halloween this year. Culture and words travel, in America people will say "good onya".
People travel too, national institution Hoges has lived in LA for years. Why I bet you have even been spelling colour without
the "U" of late, and instead of watching the Swans you watch American football. The world is shrinking.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas to you!!
Beautiful 👌❤️
Thanks a lot 😊
Its nice to hear 13th century songs in its entirety. Many are just the music.
Thanks for checking in out!
Awesome! Gets me in the mood to drink with the lads... which isn't so good right now, since it's still early in the morning ^^
Oh well, a few hours to wait...
Glad you enjoy it!
Hell Yeah! Now thats what im talking about! Thanks! Bless you!!
Thanks so much!
Wonderful. It was Blur who introduced to the song.
Me too! They inspired me to do my own version. 😎
