"I shatter dreams like Jordan, assault and batter your team Your squadron'll be barred from rap Like Adam and Eve from the garden" Definitely top 10 album for me
Pun was ridiculous, the crazy thing is as overweight as we was, he spit so fast and didnt run out of breath. So glad i was around when dude was alive, remember rocking this cassette in a lil boombox walking round with my friends. RIP to pun and rip to rap in general, we dont get shit like this now days. You should do a reaction to Big Ls casualties of da diice game, love that track
Fun Fact: Big Pun was VERY heavily influenced by Kool G Rap.. So much so that he has once even bowed to him, and kneeled down kissing his ring.. And to be honest, you can see the influence from how he created rhyme schemes, and uses cyllables.
It was Big Daddy Kane from what Fat Joe always said not Black Thought, and from the intro into his second album the pieces that built pun had Kane included.
This is one of the best tracks on the album, and this is among the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Notice how the bass drops out during the chorus? It's a sinister effect, with the violin in the background. The lyrics are oozing with pop culture, mafia, and gang references. Props to his DJs and producers for filling in the space. Pun died when he was 28 years old from morbid obesity. They say that the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. Think about this- he died before 9/11. Compare this track with anything from the last 15 years, and there is simply no analogue. Pure genius.
That Dramacyde track is my favorite track from Pun and it's with Kool G Rap too. They would've made for a dope duo on more tracks. You can definitely tell Pun was heavily influenced by Kool G Rap
Yea but sadly he kept packing on weight and it made his flow slower because he started getting out of breath easily. You can tell he was sounding different on yeeeah baby album
Hey Mr. King. Ty so so much for sharing this. It's the first time I've ever heard Big Pun and what a flow beyond belief! Word configurations off the charts! My first reaction other than linguistic shock, took me back to an originator innovator Rakim who 10 years earlier with Eric B., as you already know, changed the game with word flow possibilities. You've already given Rakim lots of reaction videos already, but if you ever get a chance to add this to your channel: I Ain't No Joke or My Melody original mix, it'd be greatly appreciated.
The complexity of Pun's schemes and patterns was way beyond 99% of his competition at the time. His early death is tragic as fuck, he would have been a PROBLEM for a long time
As a Puerto Rican, I have never been so proud for Pun for putting us on the Map. Thank you for your reaction and appreciation for Big Pun and his gift. You really know what real rap/hip hop is about. Proud of your craft - keep it going!
Yo I subscribed to your channel a long time ago, bro!! As a older Hip-Hop head, it does my heart good to know that young cats like you can get a dose of the real, understand it, appreciate it, and even be moved by it.. Most the music today is heartless and cold. This shit has a feeling and can touch you.. The machine pushes microwave music, so you never get a chance to feel it. I appreciate your channel, and love the fact that you can get the same feeling I may have had on a song 20-30 yrs ago. That's how you merge generations and instill the jewels we learned in the children.
I can't tell you how much it means to me for you to rep to rep Big Pun. His memory has been plagued by the fact he has not been recognized as one of the best to do it.
Pun is one of the greatest internal rhymers in Hip Hop, he's a beat shatterer 💯 Great video my guy, keep grinding. Here's some songs sugestions: Pitch Black - Hold Me Down Non-Phixion - Rock Stars Souls of Mischief - 93' Til Infinity Souls of Mischief - Never No More Method Man - Mr.Sandman Biggie - Miss U Graveddigaz - Diary of a madman Tribe Called Quest - Butter Dr.Dre - Let's Ride Special Ed - I Got It Made AZ - Mo Money Mo murder Killarmy - Burning Season Black Star - Brown Skin Lady Large Professor - Stay Chiseled Herb McGruff - Destined To Be MF DOOM - Still Dope GZA - Killah Hills Gang Starr - Rite Where U Stand Ghostface Killah - Motherless Child Lords of the Underground - Funky Child Children of the Corn - American Dream The Roots - Concerto of the Desperado Nas - One on One Inspectah Deck - Elevation Cella Dwellas - Good Dwellas Peace.
For whatever reason I never thought about how much Ikon The Verbal Hologram from Jedi Mind Tricks aka Vinny Paz sounds like Pun. If you’ve never listened to JMT Psycho Social Album, it’s one of the deepest rap albums ever created. So much knowledge dispensed on that record.
you gotta listen to the Buckwild-version, this version was only made because they couldn't clear the sample (it was later cleared for the release of Endangered Species)
I cannot believe you haven't hit 100k yet. I was on "vacation" for a year and this gem of the channel is still on 50-ish K. SHAME, this is one of the few rap educational channels out there. Keep grinding. Much love from the Belgrade fam.I see you`re knowledgeble when it comes to music, Curt Cobain reference
It always has been and always will be.... RIP PUN 20 yrs+ and i still miss ur presence! Untouchable flow, impeccable lyrics, punchline precision pure in his persona. Pun was impeccable 🌙 🐕
Dawg!!!! CHECK OUT KOOL G RAP. He was Puns inspiration. Pun was so humble to first meet Kool G he even went down on one knee. That's a real story that Pun himself said.
Review “Uncommon Valor” there’s two versions. I think the RA The Rugged Man version is more powerful. It’s a true story of his father in Vietnam. One of the best rap songs ever. His flow is insane and it’s all a true story. Biggie once said RA is the only rapper that could battle him and win.
damn son i love your reactions....3rd time i watch this one. That`s the hip hop with the balls fam. I love Pun since 2001 i 1st time heard of him. Imma Bigge`s huge fan, but this dude is something else.
They actually had to remake this song because they couldn’t clear the sample. They finally released it on his greatest hits album. You have to review Pun and Black Thought “Super Lyrical”
When it comes to flows, dont sleep on Pharoahe Monch. One of the sickest ever, his verse on Bring It On when he was in Organized Konfusion is a great example.
Pun was a legend and kinda like a baseball switch hitter who is equally as dangerous from both sides of the plate ( English and Spanish ) . Speaking of amazing flow check out Treach 's flow on the Naughty by Nature track Yoke the Joker .Great react as usual .
Big Pun was one of the best MCs to pick up the microphone.
Facts its sad nobody mentions him in there top 5
Unfair bars no competition hoodz
I honestly believe big pun was better than biggie
@@mattmay4112 i dont know about all of that they was suposed to do a song together we will never know
@@mattmay4112 Lyrically maybe but overall I think Biggie was the complete package from Song making story telling etc

Family.
He was Dios Mio.
He did run out of breath, on stage, cardio was not his thing.
If you listen close to alot of his songs, you can hear him gaspin for breath every few bars. U have to listen closely though
Big Pun,
"Beware"
🔥🔥
I think I reacted to that song already. 💯
"fast money" my favourite.
Every time I try to rap along I get out of breath but this man with his 400 pounds just keeps spitting
Big Pun was a lyrical monster ironically the two greatest MC's of all time have roots from the Caribbean which are Biggie🇯🇲 and Big Pun🇵🇷
FACTS!!!!
BIG FACTS!!!
That "hand him his purse back" verse unfortunately applies to 99.9% of today's rappers.
Exactly
This comment probably wasn’t intended to funny but damn it was!😂🤣

Facts
absolutely!!!!
He is in my top 5 for sure too
Big Pun mastered Kool G Rap’s flow. That’s basically what he did. He’s very nice & underrated.
Classic! Play tres leches by Big Pun featuring Inspektah Deck and Prodigy
Yes!!! All three classic verses, but IMHO Prodigy's verse on that record is one of the greatest of all time. Just lethal.
the cuts on this track legendary
Fun Fact: Big Pun was VERY heavily influenced by Kool G Rap.. So much so that he has once even bowed to him, and kneeled down kissing his ring.. And to be honest, you can see the influence from how he created rhyme schemes, and uses cyllables.
It's like Big Pun doesn't even breathe in this song.. Bar after bar. Verbally Slicin n Dicin! 🤓🖖
The best that ever did it! Delivery was off the charts, way before his time. Salute pun! Rest easy! 🙌
Beyond* 👍🏾
Shoutout to the BX! I could definitely hear kool g rap's influence on big pun. Big pun was definitely one of a kind.
As a black Puerto Rican I feel pride when Pun gets his props he was a beast
Bro. If you like this you absolutely have to react to Big Pun Super Lyrical. That might be the hardest Big Pun Song.
Pun use to say his style is heavilly influence by Kool G Rap and Black Thought. And you can tell.
It was Big Daddy Kane from what Fat Joe always said not Black Thought, and from the intro into his second album the pieces that built pun had Kane included.

Big Pun! The man with over a thousand guns! Favourite rapper, so glad you found him!
You should get into some Kool G Rap. That’s who influenced Pun’s style.
Pun was nice but even he bowed down and kissed the ring of the man who fathered that flow. The one and only KOOL G RAP!
He just put his twist in it n evolved it n made it better💯💯💯💯💯👑
Hell yeah, they named the game after him. That's why it's called rap. Lol 😂
@@hectorgonzalez4191 yeah, see that? He's like [Kool] G-rap , pac, master P all balled up with a twist of Marc Anthony. 🤔😁😉
That Dramacyde track is my favorite track from Pun and it's with Kool G Rap too. They would've made for a dope duo on more tracks. You can definitely tell Pun was heavily influenced by Kool G Rap
Pun is sick, never see another like him.
Pun my favorite rapper of all time!! This joy here ridiculous!! Good to see yall young boys seein why we love the music we grew up on soooo much!!
He used oxygen tanks when he performed live lol. Dude's a legend.
His breath control was amazing for someone his size. Big Pun wrecked this.
