    This is amazingly good. The original model deserved something special as a diorama, and it has clearly got it with this fabulous creation. I have watched this many times and never get bored of it.
    Since getting back into the hobby last Christmas (after a 40+ year hiatus) I have relied on You Tube heavily, to bring me up to date with so many things that have changed. Whilst watching many videos from several very talented modellers, yours have truly stood out. They are incredibly well made, very relaxing to watch, and highly informative. I have learned SO much from your videos already, that I would like to try to do myself 'eventually'. But I am a real newbie, despite having been a keen modeller as an 8 year old kid all those years ago. Back then in the UK it was Airfix and Matchbox model kits, and Humbrol Enamel paints. The latter which I often to my shame, spilt on my parents best table and carpets. The local model shop in the town I grew up, used to be my favourite haunt on a Saturday morning, (long before I discovered music, football and girls) where I would easily part with my weekly pocket money. The shop has sadly long gone, but there are still a few here and there in the UK, which is uplifting to see.
    I have to admit to being quite astonished at how things have progressed. Some of the techniques are quite ingenious, and it makes me realise how basic my skilset and primitive my skilset was, back then in the mid to late 1970s. I think the internet and especially You Tube has had a profound and positive effect on the hobby. Tim Berners Lee should be proud.
    So for several weeks I have been meaning to post you a big thank you on here for sharing so many of your incredible creations, ideas, techniques and quality advice. It is only now as I sit at home recovering from 'bliddy Covid' that I can finally take time to offer you my thanks.
    You have helped me ENORMOUSLY in refinding this hobby, when at the age of 54 I thought I was way too old. As I touched upon earlier there are numerous other great people in this hobby posting regular videos also, but while they are very worth watching, there is something very engrossing about your work. The relaxed manner in which you speak, the well chosen music, and the great content make your videos incredibly watchable. My own interest is WWII aircraft and armour, and I confess to having watched all of your work in these areas, several times over during the last seven or eight months.
    So thank you so much, for your generosity and help. And please keep up the amazing work!
    Kind regards
    Mark, Lincolnshire, U.K.

      Mark,
      I appreciate all of your kind words. It really does make me happy to know that people are enjoying what I am doing. I find model making to be very relaxing (most of the time) and a good way to unwind at the end of the day, so if someone else can get some enjoyment, or at the very least, some insight, then I will continue to provide content. Thank you for watching my videos, and its kind of you to compare me to some of the other modelers out there, some of which are extremely talented in ways I've yet to learn. I still feel a little "imposter syndrome" but I'm learning to let that go.
      If there is every anything you are interested in learning about, let me know and I can tailor some content to it. I'm happy to share what I know, but somethings I don't realize what other people don't know. (if that makes sense).
      Brett

    Great job, and nicely done video. I despise those Vaccu-formed buildings, they are so difficult to assemble - but there are times when I use them, as the best solution. Cutting the tank's tracks inti the rubble, base was a wise move. I liked the idea of using the sponge to blend the putty, too.

    • @HammerheadModelMaking
      @HammerheadModelMaking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I appreciate it. I had never really worked with one of this vacuform kits before, but had worked with other miniart kits and it's a toss up for me. On the one hand it was a pain to get everything aligned; I can't imagine working on one of their large diorama bases, but on the other I'm quite happy with the results and it turned out pretty much how I envisioned it. So, I may give another one a try in the future. I had built the tank long before I had decided what I wanted to do for the diorama, so it was necessary for the tank to sit properly on the base. Had I planned things out a little more it would have been fun to try to modify the tank to make it appear as though it was passing on the rubble and have the track and road wheels deflected to portray that. But there's always the next kit right!

    Your cure of details is impressive and the look is so realistic and “live”. Very impressive work. How ling did it take to complete this diorama (tank build excluded)?

    • @HammerheadModelMaking
      @HammerheadModelMaking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I think I probably spent and additional 30 hours painting the figures and building and painting the diorama. I had to spend a decent amount of time cleaning up the halves of the buildings and trying to hide the seam lines.

    I really like your dio but I don't understand why you covered up all of your beautiful ground work with the snow.......the street and the way you painted it looked awesome. Also, when you paint your figures using the air brush you should add the high-lights and shadows with the air brush, as simple as aiming from below for shadows and from top for highlights. Awesome work though!!!!!

    • @HammerheadModelMaking
      @HammerheadModelMaking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the feedback! It was always my intention to do a winter themed diorama, but I was never quite sure just how much snow I wanted to apply, so I painted everything just in case. I’ve tried using zenith highlighting on figures in the past and wasn’t quite happy with the results, but I think I just need more practice. thanks again for your comment!
