Jimi, AND Steve Winwood on organ, Jack Casady on bass, Chris Wood on woodwinds, Dave Mason on acoustic guitar. Everybody wanted to play with Jimi. Those were the days.
My older next door neighbor let me borrow his copy of RU Exper. in '67 as well. I saw him in concert in '70 a couple of months before he died. He was full of heroin and could barely walk from his limo to the outdoor stage. It was brutal.
I was 15 then, when I first heard "Purple Haze" on the car radio (my mother was driving), and it mesmerized me, the music and his guitar sounding so wild, so different from anything I'd ever heard before. So many have incorporated Jimi's playing style as their own, after his passing, but, at the time, he was certainly unique and projected a powerful presence as a musician and "flower power" representative of the late-'60s counterculture.
It was a touching well made story. it's a funny thing, Jimmy looks way more like his Mamma than anyone else in the family. Without his classy Grandma, he would never have made it to the big time!.

A common theme that I noticed in all greats is that they started obsessively practicing as a form of therapy to heal from a traumatic life event or bear the weight of a chronic illness, or even, to deal with being used as a child prodigy. Prince got abandoned by his parents when he was found making love to a girl at 12 years old (a story he would later tell in the movie Purple Rain). Tony Williams, drummer for Miles Davis starting at 17 years old, was abandoned as well at only 8 and was left in an apartment with nothing in it except a drumset. Art Tatum was so poor and alone, that he didn't knew the records he listened to were made using mechanical pianos, so learned to play the bassline in chords on every song! Those are a few notable examples. Almost every artist I know myself included, practice their art first and foremost to heal themselves. Perhaps this is why it is so healing to others.
The guitar has always been there for me, through thick and thin. Even if just 1 string is all it has, there it is to take all of what I can give it, never judging, never arguing, just always there. Not sure if therapy would be less expensive but I do have something to show for the money spent.
Most kids today to know that he was a rockstars rockstar. Nobody could play the way he did when he first hit the scene. He is an absolute American Icon unlike any other in my book. Thanks for the video I loved it.

Jimi was super patriotic, an ex military veteran, and a huge supporter of the troops. Just because he raised his "Freak Flag" high, that was more of a symbolic show of individualism . We could sure use him today, and I'm convinced he could help unite the country with his music!
I've a feeling that Jimi's potential to unite the country against corrupt government is the reason the FBI targeted him. That's why the red wine filling his lungs along with the pills is a clue to what happened. Have a look at that research.

Al Cooper tells a story about meeting Jimi at the Tin Angel restaurant across the street from the Cafe Au Go Go in Greenwich Village. Kooper asked Jimi what he was eating, and Jimi said it was something the house made for him. It was Ground beef, Rice & vegetables. Kooper said he still eats this, because it was good and a reminder of Jimi.

The blood alcohol content was extremely low in the blood which means he was murdered before digestion could take place, THIS PROVES 100% murder. Jimi was murdered. My friend.

Nice, but it should be noted that Jimi did not start writing songs until _after_ he moved to England, initially under the mentorship of Chas Chandler. When he was "discovered" by Chandler playing the Café Wha?, he had no original material whatsoever. The fact he began writing such brilliant pieces immediately following the formation of the Experience speaks for his compositional genius. Anyway, many thanks for the video.
This is very nice to see. Might I add, since it isn't often considered relevant enough, the fact that Ed Chalpin's contract with J.M.H. was the source of much of the musician's hardship and heartache. Chalpin was in London when Jimi died, and Michael Jeffrey no longer supported Hendrix, opening the door for Chalpin.
Love this. Growing up I always took Hendrix for granted, but a few years ago I listened to Axis Bold As Love back to front for the first time and fell in love. I bought a white squier strat with my first ever paycheck after that.

On his mom's side, there was some white folks a couple generations back..You can see that his mother was light-skinned..her sister said that she could "pass"--for being white. That info explains Jimi's looks...He was a brown-skinned black, with some American Indian features. Some of his fellow musicians thought he was an Indian-from India!..lol. BTW...ALL meat should be cooked to an internal temp of 165*...Medium is the best way to cook up a delicious steak!
Really enjoyed your presentation. Most of that I was not aware of; the early years with his folks and grandparents. It was such a loss to everyone when he died so young. I was going to school in NJ in the late 60's. In '68, the school took us to see him perform in Philly (I was 17). It was the experience of a lifetime.
Interesting, but I don’t like how Jimi Hendrix is portrayed as some kind of tragic figure. From what I understand, and I have read a few biographies, all these stories about drug addictions etc are greatly exaggerated. Losing your mother at a young age is tragic, but he had a good relationship with his grandmother and in the end with his father. I think that by the time he was 23-24 and he came to England he was basically living his dream. He may have been shy but he was also a natural performer, not someone like Kurt Cobain who hated being in the spotlight. His death (like any death)was tragic but an unfortunate accident of a kind that happened a lot at the time, an accidental combination of sleeping pills and alcohol. He is remembered by his contemporaries as a gentle, funny ,polite, and generous guy. And above all a genius musician.
Jimi was not gay even if he said “excuse me while I kiss this guy”.😂 Back in the 80s me and a friend went to Seattle to visit Jimi’s grave. We stopped in a bar in his old neighborhood to ask for directions and ran into a couple of guys who went to high school with him. All they said about him was that he was weird and pretty much a loner.

She had been a singer and dancer, back in the 1920s and 30s. Very beautiful!

This is sad. They’re a bunch of sad ass liars. And I do not mean that personally, I just mean that on the facts that we know now, I have complete proof that it’s a murder. 100% fact. All the information is already on paper, and the brother sister duo will not tell the truth. This is sad. Sometimes it makes me so mad I wish I could punch him, not that I would, ever, but it does make me really mad.
I do not want to leave it up to his brother, he is not telling the truth. And my problem is no one gives me any credibility because of what the whole concept sounds like: there is some chump born the day Jimi was murdered and says he knows how to prove that Jimi was murdered, but no one else can????? I know I sound like I am fucking crazy but everything about me is true.
I am the only friend Jimi Hendrix has, I am the only one standing up for the truth about this wonderful person, and that he is not a casualty, he is not an accident, he did not overdose, he did not commit suicide, a guy who does not drink red wine …. we’re all being told by the autopsy that he drowned in red wine, and there was tons of it in his stomach, a guy who does not drink red wine, was fully clothed when found, vomit completely dry, dried red wine everywhere, and the pills…. it says on the autopsy that the pill, bigger ones and smaller ones were found in his stomach. Most people don’t realize what that means: it means the pills were undigested and undigested sleeping pills can not put a person to sleep, and undigested sleeping pills can not kill anyone. The blood alcohol content was extremely low in the blood which means he was murdered before digestion could take place, THIS PROVES 100% murder.
Jimi was murdered. My friend.
And because of God I was born with credibility to speak about this in ways the family won’t, because just like me, it hurts too much to speak about it. There are few things that make me cry, this is one of the very few. I do have the credibility to say this, and I am the only one alive with credibility that can say this.

Nice, but it should be noted that Jimi did not start writing songs until _after_ he moved to England, initially under the mentorship of Chas Chandler. When he was "discovered" by Chandler playing the Café Wha?, he had no original material whatsoever. The fact he began writing such brilliant pieces immediately following the formation of the Experience speaks for his compositional genius. Anyway, many thanks for the video.

Might I add, since it isn't often considered relevant enough, the fact that Ed Chalpin's contract with J.M.H. was the source of much of the musician's hardship and heartache. Chalpin was in London when Jimi died, and Michael Jeffrey no longer supported Hendrix, opening the door for Chalpin.

Growing up I always took Hendrix for granted, but a few years ago I listened to Axis Bold As Love back to front for the first time and fell in love. I bought a white squier strat with my first ever paycheck after that.

Do not know where you got the idea that Jimi ate that specific dish!...but your info was to the point, and flawless. Thank you for that1..And you can sure see that Jimi got his good looks from his mom, and also his grandma!...Nora was half-black, half Cherokee Indian. On his mom's side, there was some white folks a couple generations back..You can see that his mother was light-skinned..her sister said that she could "pass"--for being white. That info explains Jimi's looks...He was a brown-skinned black, with some American Indian features. Some of his fellow musicians thought he was an Indian-from India!..lol. BTW...ALL meat should be cooked to an internal temp of 165*...Medium is the best way to cook up a delicious steak!

Really enjoyed your presentation. Most of that I was not aware of; the early years with his folks and grandparents. It was such a loss to everyone when he died so young. I was going to school in NJ in the late 60's. In '68, the school took us to see him perform in Philly (I was 17). It was the experience of a lifetime.

Interesting, but I don’t like how Jimi Hendrix is portrayed as some kind of tragic figure. From what I understand, and I have read a few biographies, all these stories about drug addictions etc are greatly exaggerated. Losing your mother at a young age is tragic, but he had a good relationship with his grandmother and in the end with his father. I think that by the time he was 23-24 and he came to England he was basically living his dream. He may have been shy but he was also a natural performer, not someone like Kurt Cobain who hated being in the spotlight. His death (like any death)was tragic but an unfortunate accident of a kind that happened a lot at the time, an accidental combination of sleeping pills and alcohol. He is remembered by his contemporaries as a gentle, funny
,polite, and generous guy. And above all a genius musician.

Jimi was not gay even if he said “excuse me while I kiss this guy”.😂 Back in the 80s me and a friend went to Seattle to visit Jimi’s grave. We stopped in a bar in his old neighborhood to ask for directions and ran into a couple of guys who went to high school with him. All they said about him was that he was weird and pretty much a loner.
