The Basarab Overpass is a road crossing in Bucharest, Romania, connecting sectors 1 and 6 between Nicolae Titulescu Road and Grozăvești Road. It was built with the aim of streamlining traffic in the North-West area of the capital and to complete the inner traffic ring of the Municipality of Bucharest. In 2000, Traian Băsescu, at that time the general mayor of the capital, obtained financing from the Bank European Investment Bank (EIB) for this idea. The basis of the project was the JICA study, developed by Japanese specialists in 2000, which indicated among the priorities for the future of the city's development, the realization of this raised overpass in Basarab.
