Esp since the Pink elephant in the room was this entire project is being pushed bc of (Tupac’s) presence. They definitely owed him more than a reduced unexplained role
Exactly cause they could have given a quick flash back scene when sherif stayed with Kane cousin. They could have shown a quick flash back scene showing why and then coming back to when wax said fuck that we out
I think Pac was conscious of his reach and career path at that time. His plan to reach the ghettos was already in swing. We saw Pac go from heartfelt 'Keep Your Head Up' to later switching it up to the gangster street shit. In that moment, it was important to him for the movie to reflect the narrative he was trying to put out.

Pac knew the only reason why production was giving the Hughes brother the money to do the movie was a condition of 2 pac had to play in the movie because of his popularity at the time the big wigs felt they would capitalize off him.

@@paymyself1st430 Tupac's rap career tainted him. Had he played Sharif, he woulda killed it. All of the actors played their roles as planned. The Hughes Brothers are brilliant for that. They touched on several important issues in that movie. 🤎🤎🤎
I don't think the Sharif character would've been a stretch for Pac. He could've went into his aggressive _conscious mode_ - the one we've seen in many interviews when he is speaking about the Black experience. Then, he could've came out with a whole separate movie detailing how Sharif came up. There could've been _many_ branches leading up to the original movie or branching out from it. Pac had pull like that.
according to a couple people the original reason they got they movie deal was on the strength of saying Pac was gonna be in the movie. they didn't really want him there they just felt like they needed him at the time from my point of view. but once they got the ball rolling the exed him out the picture, you know the story after that lol
That's what I said. This role would not have been a big stretch for him. He could have went back to his "White manz world" days. Which is one of his better songs. I believe he would have done great as Sharif.
If PAC woulda just did the role and brought a his own charm we would be sitting here talking about his diverse acting range when we speak on his legacy….kinda a shame it didn’t happen
I definitely agree with this assessment. This makes me think about Denzel Washington. For most of his acting career, he portrayed a clean, straight and narrow, good-guy image -- but when he dropped Training Day, it was notably different from the roles I was used to seeing. But he played the role so well that it made me like him even more. He played his character so well that I didn't even want him to die (even though, he deserved it). It simply added to his legacy of his entertainment value and versatility. Now, I find myself thinking that Training Day might be my favorite movie featuring him (even though, he made many other great films).
@@sleepydank8330 understood. But in a movie like Menace II Society, he could have possibly made an even greater impact because many of the main characters portrayed themselves as violent, misguided, and didn't gaf -- Pac could have been the guy who brought sanity, a sense of direction, and morality to the situation and with his charisma that he could have injected into his role, he could have possibly endeared a lot more observers. I understand that Pac wanted to add a backstory to his potential character, but I also think he was being difficult to work with. While I agree that he demonstrated a relatively "good guy" imagine in Poetic Justice, I think that he could have had a greater impact in Menace II Society.
Only thing is shareef role wasn’t a lot of screen time he didn’t have many lines that’s the thing that’s all but I feel you . Understand pac would have took the role of shareef was in the film more . PAC not taking the role was more impactful than the shareef role. @@suave_d yes but pac questioned the fact that the character of shiereef was a Muslim, who was hanging out with gangsters who had guns and smoked, sold drugs drank ect ect, pac understood a real Muslim wouldn’t be within those environments and that’s Muslim gangster didn’t exist, he played and potrayed an authentic hard working young man looking after in poetic justice, he didn’t need to portray this in menace the character can be seen as being contradictory for his hanging out with non Muslim gangsters .
Maybe the Hughes Brothers had a different vision with Pac...his last name Shakur holds a lot of weight. He could have flipped that, and made it work for him. the best actors have a wide range of roles they play. Maybe if Pac killed that role, it would have been another one under his belt. Just a 🤔💭
That Shariff role was wack as hell, can`t blame Pac for turning it down. The guy that played Shariff never became a star because he never got a role that would elevate his acting career. But at the same time Pac should have just walked out and just charge it to the game, assaulting one of Hughes brothers was uncalled for.
I think Larenz Tate in that movie to me was the best character role he ever played for me. I think that pac wanted that role a little bit more than Larenz. I would’ve been good with either of them playing Kane’s best friend. The Hughes brothers could’ve did something creative with the hottest act in that time period. So they dropped the ball on that one.

That's the mentality that got Pac killed. Shariff's character did get explained in the scene at the party when he was trying to stop Kane from getting a beer. The role of Shareef in this movie was straight up stoopid cause ain't nobody in any hood could hang with any of the other characters without putting in some type of work.
And it worked out for the best cause it was better with the lesser known actors cause it looked more believable with them pac would have commanded the film so him not being in it it let it breath more easier
Was it that the Hughes brothers GENUINELY didn't want 2pac in the movie and they were trying to hang on to that check or did something BEFORE MENACE between 2pac and the Hughes brothers?
They didn't want him in their movie 🍿🎥 So they fixed it to where he would react that way The whole reason they got the green light was because of Tupac The whole reason they got their name was because of Tupac They did one of Tupacs music videos Regardless if it was something that happened before the movie came about Tupac put them on So why not return the favor?? They definitely snaked 🐍 Pac But in the end they got their issue
Because that character wasn't really in the movie too much and also Tupac felt there wasn't enough reasoning to why that character changed into the positive guy
The problem was Tupac found out he was kicked from the movie when he read about it in the newspaper, they didnt even tell him to his face. Those guys were cowards and snakes.
Yeah but Pac was a thug, if they told Pac to his Face that he was getting the Timberland boot, Pac would have probably beat the light skin off of them. The Hughes Bros aint about that life, so they wanted to avoid a physical confrontation.

Esp since the Pink elephant in the room was this entire project is being pushed bc of (Tupac’s) presence. They definitely owed him more than a reduced unexplained role

Like how you put it but nah they had intentions for pac
according to a couple people the original reason they got they movie deal was on the strength of saying Pac was gonna be in the movie. they didn't really want him there they just felt like they needed him at the time from my point of view. but once they got the ball rolling the exed him out the picture, you know the story after that lol
Pac started his career as the conscious cat so why was it a problem for him playing the role of Shareef?
That's what I said. This role would not have been a big stretch for him. He could have went back to his "White manz world" days. Which is one of his better songs. I believe he would have done great as Sharif.

His diverse activities b rang was seen in poetic justice much better movie he played a honourable man
@@sleepydank8330 understood.
Maybe the Hughes Brothers had a different vision with Pac...his last name Shakur holds a lot of weight. He could have flipped that, and made it work for him. the best actors have a wide range of roles they play. Maybe if Pac killed that role, it would have been another one under his belt. Just a 🤔💭
