I think it's possible for it to be going a bit slower and still have the TPO work, based on some other videos I've seen. Also, are you able to place the post and the drop hut closer together so that they're more inward of the curve? That seems like it might help.
Anyway, this is a lovely set. I like that it has a gradient, given the poem. Pity they don't seem to make sets like this anymore.

Yes I probably could run it a bit slower, and it does work with the inclines if I add more track to it.
I agree with you, when you say you use to get a lot more in the sets back then.
Over all a great set, & I still get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
All the best and happy 😊 Modelling,
      Phil

Train sets used to be so much better than they are now. The one below that in the catalogue had the points needed for a passing loop for crying out loud.
In the days before DCC, I suppose that sound system was pretty super. But, I think something like that would have needed higher fidelity recordings and better speakers if it ever stood a chance of being something serious modellers employed.

I think that the sets made back then had a lot of play value,
I do really enjoy putting the mailbag on the collecting apperators & watching it collect the mailbag.
Yes I totally agree with you about the sound 🔊 box it was good for it's time.
All the best and happy modelling,
      Phil 😊

This (well the prior version without the sound box) was my very first trainset, I still enjoy settinng it up every now and again as it is still great fun to set off running on the kitchen table

This is good to know that this was someone's first train set, I hope that it brought back a lot of memories.
It is also good to know that you still have it, so this was your journey into model railways.
What a great set to start from,
All the best and happy modelling,
      Phil 😊

Think the issue you're having with the inclined sections is that you haven't got enough supports in place making it steeper than it should be, if you look at each riser they are numbered in order that they should go on.

Yes I know, I have followed it in numerical order & even placed the supports were Hornby suggested.
It does work but to collect the mailbag the train has to run at speed, that with an incline on a bend & light weight rolling stock it didn't work.
But when I added extra track it was great,
All the best and happy modelling,
      Phil 😊
