The yogurt ice cream was probably a frozen yogurt machine...for those who prefer that over soft serve. I appreciate how thorough you are with showing us all the options at the buffets.
So helpful! Just booked a few nights for December at Maya Riviera... I heard they just added dinner service to their buffet there, which is nice, but this one at the Palace looks amazing! Definitely going to try here for dinner one night. Cannot wait!
That’s good to hear, the dinner buffet will be a nice addition! The dinner buffet at the Maya Palace was great tho, so definitely check it out as well 👍🏻 have a great trip!
I'm leaving tomorrow for two weeks at Maya beach. I booked this place (Barcelo) due to its reputation for GF food and care towards celiac clients. I am so delighted that you showed two breakfast buffets or dinner ones with GF pastries, as it looked like they had none at first. I hope they have adjusted it so Beach has GF pastry case like the palace!
@@WherewegoingNext Hehehe that's ok :) if they don't, they don't. It's just they had in Punta Cana and I had with rice everyday and I would have thought Mexico would have it for sure. However mmmm everything else you showed is more than enough to keep this foodie (me) happy hahaha
It’s one of my faves too! I always get pico de gallo with guacamole! The Maya Palace does have a great selection of yummy food, so you will not be disappointed 👍🏻
Quick question for clarification: if you’re staying in a Premium Room at the Caribe or other 4, do you have access to the Palace restaurants? Thank you for the great review!
@@WherewegoingNext I realize her question & your reply was posted a year ago & with all due respect, you told @amyy9752 incorrect information. When guests book "Premium Level Rooms" at Barcelo Maya Grand Resort, they have full access to ALL but the "adults only" section of the resort complex. This "full access" includes The Maya Palace restaurants, clubs, bars, the beach area, etc. Respectfully, Ben
Hello @amyy9752, I realize your question was posted a year ago...BUT...I feel compelled to respond to your question. Because you were misinformed. Be assured...Premium Level Guests of Barcelo Maya Grand Resort DO have full access to the Maya Palace Section of the resort complex. This "full access" includes ALL restaurants, bars, the beach area, etc. of Barcelo Maya Palace. The only restricted area of this resort complex is the "adults only" section. So, if you ever return to Barcelo Maya Grand Resort as a Premium Level Guest, feel free to take advantage of ALL Maya Palace has to offer. Best regards from Yucatan Mexico, Ben
If you were staying at one of the 6 hotels within this resort, can you go to all of the restaurants? Do you need to pay extra for high-end dining restaurants? Can you book the tables prior arrival? thanks!
Hello @SC-hc7vy, Non-Premium Level guests can dine at Maya Beach, Caribe, Colonial & Tropical Buffet Restaurants. The A-la-Carte Restaurants are limited to 3 per each weekly stay for non-Premium Level Guests. The only additional cost at these "high-end" restaurants would be if guests order a bottle of wine with their dinner. It is STRONGLY ADVISED FOR guests to make their reservations at A-la-Carte Restaurants immediately after check-in. BTW: A-la-Carte Restaurants have a STRICT dress-code for men. Long pants & sleeved shirt are required; either a long sleeve or short sleeve shirt NO tank-top shirts, NO flip-flops, NO shorts, etc. for men in these restaurants Best regards, Ben
After our trio, I wouldn't recommend going back. The food is horrible. Also, you are only allowed to go to a LA carte restaurants 2 nights for 5 or 6 nights stay. On top of that, a LA carte dishes aren't that great and not fancy. But the beach where you can swim with fishes and sea turtle for free is nice
So, for this tour, did you mention that it was obviously Asian night at the first dinner buffet? But importantly, the BMP has a schedule for its theme nights. What is the schedule? That is very important information for when you would like to schedule the ala cartes.
@@WherewegoingNext You are correct. The "theme dinners" at all buffet restaurants vary each night of the week. The buffet restaurant in each section of the resort offer different "main themes". So that no 2 offer the same on any given night. To know what theme is offered on any evening of the week, simply ask at the guest services office in your resort section. They can call ANY buffet restaurant in the entire complex to inquire about the dinner theme of ANY night. Also, the hostess who greets diners at the door & the frequently near-by restaurant manager can tell you about the planned dinner themes of their particular restaurant for that week. To ask at the "check-in desk" would be a tedious & lengthy process. Best regards from Yucatan Mexico, Ben
They are both pretty similar in amenities, but very different looks. The Barcelo has a much more traditional Mexican style, whereas the RIU is more modern. The beach at the RIU is a bit nicer also.
Was there any vegan options in the buffet? Diary allergy is the main thing really. I know the premium buffet does but just wondering if these areas have any options for that stuff.
Nothing was labeled specifically vegan - but there were many vegetable options that looked dairy free. You can ask your waiter to help you navigate the buffet with the help of one of the chefs.
No, if you stay at the Maya Beach, you can only visit and dine at Maya Caribe, Maya Colonial and Maya Tropical - not the Maya Palace or the Maya Riviera.
can you go to all restaurants regardless which 1 of the 6 hotels within this resort you stay in? For the French, Japanese, Seafood, and Italian restaurants, do you have to pay extra or do you need to pay extra for specialty dishes? thanks
They have tiers… Barcelo Maya Riviera is the top tier, so you can visit all 6 - next is Maya Palace, you can use 5 resorts except for Maya Riviera - then it’s the Maya Beach, Tropical, Caribe and Colonial that share facilities. You do not have to pay extra for the specialty restaurants, but they might have menu options that cost extra (for example, lobster)
They don’t specifically have allergy friendly foods that are labeled, except for gluten free - but you can let your waiter know about allergies and they will help you out 👍🏻

I can't believe all the "desserts" at the breakfast! I usually fast but when I travel I'll try to limit myself to the breakfast proteins... but there's so many options that look good!

Great review. We are going in Feb of '23! One question, is there a lunch buffet or are they only breakfast and dinner? Asking for a friend. 😉
Yes, there is a lunch buffet as well! It’s very similar to the dinner buffet, so that’s why we only showed breakfast and dinner in this video 👍🏻
Yes
Wo wo wo wo...what the hell is on thst guys shirt at 1:21

Not at all lol!
I didn't see any pico de gayo salad - might be spelling that wrong - but it's tomato, onion, cilantro, etc. It's my fav!

How does this resort compare to riu palace Mexico in playacar? Does the barcelo looks more outdated ? I love your detailed videos

The RIU Palace riviera Maya food is better for sure. 👍🏻
@@WherewegoingNext Do not agree. Barcelo food is superior to Riu.
🫣🤷🏼♀️ everyone has their preferences
Where did you end up going?
When I went in 2015 they had a nachos and cheese area that I would eat everyday for breakfast lol Looks like they got rid of it.
I guess they change up the buffet from time to time 🤷🏼♀️
Nice
🙌🏻
Nice! I’m going next week and was wondering what the breakfast and dinner hours are for the buffets.
It’s been a while 🤔 but from what we remember the buffet opens around 6-6:30 to 10:30 for breakfast and 6pm to 10:30-11 for dinner

10pm 👍🏻

are there bars at the buffets?
Yea! You can ask your server to bring u drinks and I believe u can go up yourself as well 👍🏻

Yes they are, but we just showed dinner instead bc it’s very similar to the lunch service - lunch just has a bit smaller of a selection
No fried snapper?
