The need for continuous growth is an absolute cancer. According to that graph at the beginning of the interview, the games industry shot up from under 20bn sales/year in 2019 to 60bn just a year later. Since then it's been fairly stable, but it's still TRIPLE what it was just a few years ago. If the line hadn't shot up so dramatically but instead went up steadily by something like 8-10bn per year, the story would be very different even though the profits would be worse.
Companies who can't see farther out than the current quarter are going to get their lunch eaten with all these layoffs when displaced workers start creating tons of competition for them. I think we may see a tectonic shift in the corporate landscape in the next 5-10 years.

The real problem is they wrote a 70 Billion dollar check and there are 20 million xbox one x users. Thats $3000 / user they need to make up. The economics of buying Activisision means they have to cut. Sarah is making a metric ton of money to tow the company line. I dont blame her. I would blame Phil, Satya and the board.

game sales flat ? I wonder why... maybe everything these days is OVERPRICED and people are deciding between that 1 week of groceires for $200 or a fing video game. even video games which you dont get physical copies of anymore, are now 70-80-100$ a game... Who wants to pay for that.... I have been a gamer since i was 3... yes 3 in 1988... and the last say 7 years or so.. All i play are free to play... OR the random really good game that comes out.. I dont pay for video games anymore from big companies and i feel that a lot of people are turning into what im doing.
I am also SICK and tired of games being released that arent even finished.. How many big games have been released in the lat 10 years that were rushed, trash, not complete and an utter lie and hyped up... No mans sky, cyberpunk, sky fall, and many many many others all junk trash hyped released games overpriced and not even completed... Or game that charge you for every little update t the game... War hammer total war.. stelarus, every little update they want $20 for. Im also sick and fing tired of "exclusive" games... sorry guys but im not buying a ps5 or xbox or pc only to play 1 specific title..
Either make them cross platformed or dont even make it. This president of microsoft is a joke.... Get paid hundreds of million to be oblivious. The only thing innovative in the gaming industry today is from indie solo studies... once these companies gobble them all up... the innovation stops

if you’re as old as you say then you don’t have any excuse for failing to account for inflation; in turn you don’t have a leg to stand on when discussing costs. it’s a matter of fact, not opinion, that gaming is cheaper in real cost than it ever was. i was gaming at age 3, in 1979.

I stopped playin games in 2008 maybe 2010. Call of duty. Modern war fa4e. Blk ops made it unplayable with the big muscle unreal lookn characterz. Horrible sound especially the grenade boom was a pop. Anybody here can see the issue. Gaming became a troll. Kids and trolls destroyed the experience. If u played b4 2008 u remember it was a different crowd. The obvious issue is clear. I'll break it down aside from the obvious. Fortnite. How? Fortnite proved 2 things. U dont need an engine or console to lkay high quality games. The console is no longer needed. Games today u can buy a controller and download an app a have the same quality or better for cheaper and fortnite proved u dont need a console. The console ended after xbox one. After xbox one quality never got better. TVs got better and playstation and xbox never updated and advanced from ps3 xbox 1. Only the quality of the HD 8k. Capability. New consoles were pointless because engines and graphics never got better. They used the illusion of TV picture quality getting better but never made the engine and in game play better. Look at xbox 360 compared to xbox 1 quality. Big diff. Same as ps to ps1 quality. Then the upgrade never jumped. Only TV quality of HD 8k. Look at a movie from times b4 HD existed. And watch the new HD version. Quality looks better but it's the same film. Ps and xbox is no longer needed and the creators can't make games better. Go from 06 to 2024 and the quality got a little better compared to 1998 to 2006. That's a 20 year spread. Compared to 7 years of complete change. Technology is over. I dont wanna go further.
