The psychology of this I feel is although she say she wants too let it go, she actually is hanging on to it because the guilt makes her believe she is a bad mother! The guilt is like a comfort blanket almost! If she realises this the healing can start.
While the group is attempting to console the Mom who ran over her son.. she is attempting to convey the unspeakable weight of grief and guilt she feels, while the group is implying, albeit with good intent, that its not all that bad. I'd like to hear the group first acknowledge, the indescribable and overwhelming guilt the woman has - reflective, clarifying, etc., then work to console, comfort and reflect their own perspective on her experience. Her feelings were almost minimiized, and I was frustrated on behalf of the woman.
Yes, it was on the group facilitator to guide the group in validating her feelings and reflect on the immensely tragic nature of what she had to carry.
Do you mind giving specific explanations/examples as to why this is not good group therapy? I am not a counsellor or therapist so I really don’t know, I’m only watching this because it’s in my recommended lol.
This is very informative since I am in school for counseling. I love the way the group feeds off one another and shows support.
I'm in the process of developing my own group and I'm super excited to tailor these exercises to my own group. Thank you!
Thank you for these videos. It really helps as a group facilitator come upon with new techniques
That’s awesome. Keep up the good work.

i am writing a paper in my graduate program in Counseling on how not to do group therapy and this will be my example.
Would be helpful if you could be specific in your criticism.
