Nice work. Simple descriptions that are clear and easy to follow.
Thanks, I'm trying to improve my videos
An excellent, clear and informative video Steve!
Glad it was helpful!
This tutorial was really helpful to me. I would love to see more silver clay videos from you, if you have the time please. Your instructions are so clear, thank you.
Many thanks, I do plan to make a lot more jewellery making videos including silver clay
I have a couple packages of Artclay Gold that is several years old, unopened. Is it still usable?
How did you close/fuse the bezel? Can you just apply the paste or does it need to be soldered?
Karen I would have punched a star in the heart exactly where I wanted the stone, then roll clay into a snake, wrap around the stone, wet the join seam. Let heart and stone dry, take stone wet bottom of clay and around the punched area, add stone over the punched area, I put a hole so light can come through the stone, let that dry then fire as usual. You can also cut out bezels with a cricket or silhouette. Don't need to go buy wire or solder anything! Makes things easy .
It doesn't look to me like he soldered the bezel wire closed. It probably isn't necessary to solder it closed since you're going to cover the outside with the silver paste.
What are the little abrasive wheels called please? Thanks
Hello! I can't seem to find any definitive answers anywhere, is it possible to create a bezel by pressing a garnet stone into a ball of silver clay and firing it? Or will the garnet not take the heat? Thanks for any advice you can give, very helpful video by the way, thank you!
You should be OK with Garnet, I've cast lots in place with molten silver with no ill effect. Obviously there is always a risk though with natural stone that there could be some sort of inclusion or weakness that breaks with the heat so take precautions (safety glasses etc. )
@@SteveErhardt Thank you so much for your advice! Appreciate it x
Thank you, very useful information
Needs to speak up 😂
