These are pretty cool and the optional snare does make it more versatile. I really don't know anything about these or how they came to be (the instrument it's self)
I have the Kandu travel cajón... it's smaller, and octagonal but sounds about as deep as the painted side on this one that you are demo-ing. snare on the "painted" side, plain on the plain side, no adjustment to change the tone on the snare. This one looks cool, but it's bigger!
Thanks for checking it out. I did an unboxing video of a travel cajon a while back and it wasn't the greatest. This one is definitely an improvement. It sounds like yours might be similar.
