  • Welcome to 4K Motoring!
    We took advantage of the free upgrade from Ducati on our 2022 Multistrada V4S! With confirmed the part is available through your dealer at no cost to you from Ducati (labor not included). The part is available to self install and avoid the dealer fees. Installation is easy for the average DIY-er. The extra ventilation should solve many of the overheating issues we've experienced when using the Sygic Navigation included with the bike.

    Update: the space for your phone is now slightly smaller, my Pixel 6 Pro doesn't fit well enough to use in the tighter space. Not sure what kind of mini-phone Ducati designed this for.

    You can route the main battery wire under the phone compartment and the other end goes to the ECU pins. The ECU connection is slightly tricky but if you have a small plier, it’s easy to slowly slide it in. There’s a software update that enables this fan and I think it’s better than hard wiring it to other connections

    Nice job. Something I was not willing to do. I guess Ducati did not share the exact locations they wanted the wires connected. Maybe we can find that info in the coming weeks.

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would assume eventually that information will be made available, but I didn't see any other obvious locations. Only had one ride on it so far, and seems to work well at least in the fall air.

      @@4KMotoring Locate the seat of pin (N4) to be used for inserting the smartphone compartment cooling fan wire.
      Remove the cap (20) and insert the pin 21 of the wiring inside the connector (position N4), see the figure.

    Maybe they have heat reflective foil in the intake run?

      It doesn't appear to, but as long as they air stays flowing I imagine it will get at least a little cooled off compared to surface temperature

    The additional lead wires into the BBS connector under the seat. Position N4 is empty. The earth lead then goes on the negative battery terminal. SRV-TSB-23-006 covers this retrofit.

      @@4KMotoring I plan to do the job myself in the next week or so. Whether coding is required remains to be seen. Ducati told me it had to be coded in. The SRV bulletin doesn't say you need to code it. I guess I will find out.

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Keep me posted! Obviously the way I installed it there was no coding required, but I'll be curious if the correct connector placement requires any sort of coding

      @@4KMotoring Looks like coding is required. I installed it this morning according to the srvice bulletin. The fan doesn't spin up. Will report back after I have had a chance to visit the dealer.

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you want it installed correctly, the dealership will have to code your ECU for it. If you just connect it to a 12v ignition source you don't need them

  • @Magicinstalls

    It pains me to have to fact check you on this one. I've checked with my dealer and they want $130 labor and a free part. They will not let me do the labor on my own. I suspected the dealership would not just give you a free part

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Contact Ducati North America, this is a free part per Ducati. Unfortunately it sounds like your dealer is either unaware of how the process works or overly greedy. My dealership had to write it up as a "warranty repair" with no labor time.
