There's been a lot of interesting theories circulating after this so here is what I think: The man in the tapes is an ex journalist, who previously had aspired to become very successful in his career. As stated in the tapes, he comes across a school girl who he witnesses countless times acting in a suspicious manner. This has been confirmed to be Yandere Chan's mother (Or, Ayano's mother)Yandere Chan's mother is a Yandere, (Obviously) and will do anything for her Senpai. It is revealed in the basement tapes that Yandere Chan's mother is named Ryoba. It is also revealed that Ryoba had kidnapped her Senpai and kept him hostage, rendering him too scared to go against anything that Ryoba says. The "pair" have a child together, who inherits the Yandere gene from her mother, and retains her apathetic personality that her mother had before they met their Senpai. Now, there have been a lot of people speculating that the man in the tape is Yandere Chan's father. This is very incorrect, however I don't discourage any of you to be completely disheartened by your own theories, these are just my own interpretations. The reason why this could not be Yandere Chan's father is because the journalist DESPISES Ryoba, Yandere Chan's mother. There is no reason why the journalist would want anything to do with Ryoba, unless it was to arrest her. The journalist's wife who is stated to be very protective of whoever talks to him, does share Yandere attributes, however, she isn't as devoted as Ryoba was to her Senpai. It never states that the Journalist's wife outright STALKED anyone, let alone yearned to harm any woman who spoke to the Journalist. Therefore disproving that the Journalist's wife is Ryoba. There is a lot of evidence as to why people would mistake the Journalist to be Yandere chan's father, but there is stronger evidence that also disproves this. In basement tape 10 (Which I suggest you google and listen to yourself) recounts the events that happen after the journalist decides to flee the country. Ryoba tells her husband to pack his bags for America, where she needs to keep track of a certain man who is unnamed in the tape, but is heavily implied to be the journalist. Yandere Chan's father is still in Japan after the journalist flees to America, so unless he has the power to be two entities at once I'm gonna say that the Journalist is DEFINITELY not linked to Yandere Chan's father in any way. The Journalist also cannot be Kokona Chan's father, and here's why. Whilst many people were convinced by the Drunkenness and alcoholic tendencies that the Journalist states in one of the tapes, the death of his Wife, the daughter that came home from school and seemed to have a lot of money, I believe that it couldn't be Kokona Chan because firstly, yes she earns money by participating in Compensated Dating, and yes, it is true that Kokona's father is in fact an alcoholic. However, Kokona's father is STILL IN JAPAN. Not in America where the tapes say he should be. As well as this, the Wife dying is strong evidence, but Kokona states in her conversation with Saki, Monday Lunchtime on the rooftop, her Mother had died recently. Therefore leading the evidence away from Kokona Chan. So who else could it be? yandere dev must have a reason for these ten tapes the basement tapes don't tell a full story. we only know that ryoba aishi kidnaps her senpai and he is aware of what the journalist said. also they have a daughter (or son if that gets added or both) and that they go to chase down the journalist well Ryoba does her husbend has no idea.

Not confirmed, but I am very confident in that theory. Think about it, his daughter owns a computer and she is basically independent. Also, I expect a huge plot twist of Ayano defeating all of the rivals then Info chan will use her crimes against her. All this time, she would be working for her dad. I thought it was Kokonas father at first, a man constantly drinking with a dead wife, only one child, a daughter, unable to keep a job or make money, but as the tape progressed, the daughter couldn't be Kokona. She would sometimes come home covered in blood, always at a computer she bought herself with money made in unknown ways, never questions her out of fear. He left her alone in the town with no parents, before Ayano came to Akademi High School. Info-chan's parents would have put a stop to her actions when they were young, but no one cared, so Info-chan continued doing what she does. She may be working with Ayano for a reason involving her father and Ayano's mother rather than just working with anyone.
Also Ayano's mother and father are out of state for 10 weeks. Kinda suspicious that the journalist goes out of state too and Ayano's mother is also a yandere. Maaaybe she has gone after the journalist. Maybe the killer in 1986 is yandere-chans mother
Wow...just wow... Based on all the comments that I read and with my own opinion, I guess that this poor ex-journalist, who might be possibly Info Chan's father, has fled to America. Which is probably the reason for why Ryoba Aishi(Yandere Chan's Mom)decided to leave Ayano(Yandere Chan)alone and take her husband to America to eliminate him. But I really, really liked that Yandere Dev implemented the tapes into the game. It shows how amazing this game actually is. And the voice actor is incredibly awesome. His words were so deep, so full of emotion. So can practically see him recording in your mind. This was so good. I hope Yandere Simulator becomes an anime. If so, I would definitely watch it.
My theory is that the journalist left Japan, and for some odd reason Yandere Chan's (Ayano) parents went on a "vacation" out of Japan. The journalist said that her mom may hunt him down, so maybe she left Ayano when she was old enough to take care of herself, and her mom left Japan to finish her business (kill) the journalist. Just my theory.
This is probably wrong but this couldve been Kokoans father speaking. When he spoke about all the money she has on tape 7, the money might be from Sisuta town. Plus, when kokona is speaking to her friend on the rooftop, she said "ever since my mom died, my dads been drinking alot". Idk, this is just an idea.
Except for the fact that Kokona has a close relationship with her father, her mother recently died, not giving birth to Kokona, and the only issue that they have is that he is a widower, and he's being threatened by loansharks. There's even an update to the game where you can help her get out of debt.

(Remember the Yanvania game? That'd crash when you beat the first boss? The console you play is called a SaikouStation 4. In the error panel and in Pippi's task, it's called that.) My theory is that info chan wants to get evidence that Yandere is a killer bc her father didn't have any evidence and he was accused of being a liar and a creep for following Yandere's mother. This would give Info chan a motive. That's why she's giving Yandere weapons, bc she wants to catch her. She's talking to Yandere bc if she's "friends" with her, she will most likely not be killed. She also says to Yandere "it's in your blood to kill." Or something. If the daughter is the student counselor president, then how would Info chan know this stuff? But I guess the same goes for her. So basically I think the daughter is Info chan, but that's just me and I could be wrong.
I think I have a theory:
At first I thought the girl in the computer would be the daughter of the journalist, but I remembered in the game (before the updates) info Chan was stalking Yandere Chan and said "So history repeats itself" and mentioned about testing a theory. She probably gave Yandere Chan info about Osana and the other girls liking Senpai to see Yandere Chan's behavior and get done information that Yandere Chan might be the daughter of the yandere girl from 1989 that her father tried taking into custody. I thought it was Kokonas father at first, a man constantly drinking with a dead wife, only one child, a daughter, unable to keep a job or make money, but as the tape progressed, the daughter couldn't be Kokona. She would sometimes come home covered in blood, always at a computer she bought herself with money made in unknown ways, never questions her out of fear. He left her alone in the town with no parents, before Ayano came to Akademi High School. Info-chan's parents would have put a stop to her actions when they were young, but no one cared, so Info-chan continued doing what she does. She may be working with Ayano for a reason involving her father and Ayano's mother rather than just working with anyone.

Based on all the comments that I read and with my own opinion, I guess that this poor ex-journalist, who might be possibly Info Chan's father, has fled to America. Which is probably the reason for why Ryoba Aishi(Yandere Chan's Mom)decided to leave Ayano(Yandere Chan)alone and take her husband to America to eliminate him.
But I really, really liked that Yandere Dev implemented the tapes into the game. It shows how amazing this game actually is.
And the voice actor is incredibly awesome. His words were so deep, so full of emotion. So can practically see him recording in your mind.

Plus, when kokona is speaking to her friend on the rooftop, she said "ever since my mom died, my dads been drinking alot". Idk, this is just an idea.

Except for the fact that Kokona has a close relationship with her father, her mother recently died, not giving birth to Kokona, and the only issue that they have is that he is a widower, and he's being threatened by loansharks.
