    GREAT video ,,,, My bearing went out on my HT5 in 2012 and the drum ate up the tub opening where the gasket seats putting fiberglass all over my cloths,,, It had a 10 year warranty on parts and after much wrangling Sears sent me a new gasket, 2 piece tub , bearings and drum because my spider spindle was also broken,, each part was shipped separate so while waiting on the parts I purchased a new LG steam washer and dryer set. I rebuilt my Kenmore in my garage with the new tub and drum and sold it on eBay" local pickup, no shipping " ... a family drove all the way from West Virginia to my home in South Carolina to pickup the washer,,, I also gave them a few gallons of my home made laundry soap that I was making and using at that time and a few weeks later the wife called and wanted more so I mailed them the recipe,,,

    Waiting for my bearings to get in. I will be watching this video quite a bit next week. Thanks for making this video.

      Did you get to replace them yet?

      Well, I got it apart and found the 3 arm brace attached to the drum was broken in 2 places. Check around for a new one and the part is no longer made. Unfortunately I had to abandon the project. The part is made of aluminum and it is attached to the stainless drum. The 2 metals should not be in contact it turns the aluminum to powder after a bit of time. On purpose I would imagine. Thanks for asking. Take care. Thanks for the video.

    If you guys want to avoid any mold, use the "Steam Treat" option on your washer. Idk if its bad for your clothes but they do get rid of stains. Hope this helps! I had the same model and I loved it! Very childhood!
    Another tip: Use the "Clean Washer" every two months. It will help with the mold!

    Great video. I found a set with this issue. I realize now I will need my neighbor's help do this project. Mo wonder the techs charge 300 for this repair.

      It’s a bit of work but if you have free time it’s really not terribly hard! Take that $300 and buy yourself something nice!

    When I put tub back on and tighten down 15/16 on the belt wheel, my tub gets super tight and will no longer spin easily? Any ideas?

    Your wife is a pretty brave woman keeping that wedding ring on and being around all that heavy stuff barefoot. I'd be worried about dropping any of those heavy Parts on my foot

    Not a bearing question.. but was that spider arm permanently attached to the stainless tub?

    • @SugarChateau
      @SugarChateau  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It didn’t look like it was removable. That’s what killed our original Samsung unit after just 5 years. The spider arm cracked and that was a non repairable failure.

    Nice video. The extra time to take the front panel off might have been worth it, to take the front counterweights off, and generally easier access.

    • @SugarChateau
      @SugarChateau  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! We’re getting an F21 code pretty commonly now so I’m sure there’s more to be done on this machine yet.

    • @JeffinTD
      @JeffinTD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If there is actually water in it, and the strainer and drain hose is clear, I’d bet the pump/impeller is toast.

    • @SugarChateau
      @SugarChateau  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JeffinTD that’s my bet. It’s been slowly throwing the code more and more until now it won’t do anything but throw the code. She’s coming apart soon. Do you know if the impeller is replaceable or just the entire assembly?

    • @SugarChateau
      @SugarChateau  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay never mind. The entire assembly is $30.

    • @JeffinTD
      @JeffinTD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The other problem I’ve seen is the machine actually drained fine but the pump kept running until it trips the code, in which case the sensor is bad or scaled up.
      Anyhoo, I don’t think the impeller is replaceable. IIRC I put in an aftermarket pump off Amazon (considerably cheaper) and it has run fine for years.
