    Dog hair not only keeps dogs warm in the winter, but the underlayer coat keeps dogs cooler in the summer by trapping cooler air between it and the skin. Terra is fine, she is a light colored dog. 14 miles a day is a long walk if your not used to it though. If she had 5 toes the middle would be sticking out at you! LOL! Also dogs do not sweat, they only have sweat glands on their feet. When cooling a dog, you should Only cool a dog on the feet and belly. Wet outer coat traps heat.

    Great video. I really enjoyed watching you two navigate both the highs and lows of your backpacking trip (terra rolling in the snow was 😂😂😂). Showing us the pain as well as the beauty really is more mentally healthy for your viewers than the “everything was EPIC” videos some creators do. The ending was thoughtful and caring to summarize the quality of the trail for those camping with a dog.

    I don't know to be young... When I was young I did some things that I never even thought about while I was doing them but now it's 66 years old I look back and wonder how did I take that 150 mi bike ride without thought to what I was going to eat where we were going to sleep my son and I and his friend. Everytime I drive past the point where we ended that journey I wonder how in the world did I do it! But we all do this kind of thing I think when we were young..
    Today I have to plan every single thing and I move about in a 1977 class C Dodge motorhome and I have my wife and I have two e-bikes... Solar power everything and every comfort of home. We love to travel we would forward to the journeys . We will be taking. Be careful Godspeed.

    I travel with 2 Llewellyn setters and most of the time they are off leash. Hiking with 50lbs on your back in altitude and having hang on a leash would be really hard. If I walk 10 miles I know they've done thirty so keeping them leashed would keep them fresher but my arm would be a foot longer and one only knows how many stops we'd have to make to untangle. Great job, great video.

    • @SheRoamsWild
      @SheRoamsWild  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha so fair! She’s on a waist leash which is safer and easier for us both thankfully :) at her age, I also want to keep her mileage low as she’s still working up to it, so it actually works out well for us! That said, every dog is different and I’m glad you’ve found something that works for you!

    Looks like a beautiful place! I agree, it isn't so dog friendly at this time of the year. Maybe in the fall or early spring would be great! I know the hurricane is on its way up north so just be careful of rushing waters and downpours!

    I'm pretty sure we're here for whatever you want to share, so hiking, camping, lounging, driving, it's all good. Sometimes I wonder if Dogs play dumb just to make us humans take over care of them. I mean that I've noticed they can be pretty smart if they want to be. They know when to rest, and where aka in a dirty river where they'll be cool or shade as if there telling you to chill and take a short snooze or stop for a snack. I know you want to think Tara's your baby but I doubt she's as babish as you think she is.
