    It looks so easy. But I know it will become a very complicated task once I try to do it. But I enjoyed watching you. Looking forward to seeing another lesson. Thank you.

    I guess i am in the same boat with some other viewers. I used to do a little bit of Torchon and you gave me some extra information that i don’t think i understood before. I, too, may dig out my pillow. Please keep posting these bobbin lace tutorials 💕

    I am really enjoying your tutorial. I remember doing string art as a kid and this looks like so much more fun and intricate. Definitely, going to be looking into this. Thank you. I can’t wait to see more from you.

    I am so thrilled to find this tutorial! I have, just today, been as lucky as to find a beautiful Bobbin Lace... board?( I don't know what you call that in English) But I have absolutely no idear in what to do haha. SO this tutorial was amazing! I think you explain SO well, and I get what to do and look forward to "Bobbing along" your vid.

    Thank you for this. Trying to learn from a book is always daunting to me and I never know when to put in a pin. Some instructions say always cover your pin, so that can confuse me. I will check out your other videos.

    My bobbin pillow will be arriving later this week - can't wait. This is an excellent tutorial I will be coming back to.
    _Question_ - How do you know how much space to leave the pins? Is that something determined partially by the width of the thread?

      I always use a pattern mounted on card so it can be used again. Patterns usually state which thread to use. But you can use different threads to get a different effect. Best of luck with your bobbin lace journey Cathy x x

      I don’t have any tutorials on finishing off. Jenny brandis has some good tutorials. She may have one on finishing as well th-cam.com/users/JennyBrandisLace

    I've seen some videos do "CTCT" and other videos do "TCTC" for a whole stitch. Does it matter? Or is it all about consistency?

    Boy Oh Boy !!!!! what good work you are doing . Ellie, I have a question about the different types of thread that you use . Can you use regular sewing thread to practice work for the bobbin lace. Or can you use embroidery floss too.

    • @crafthousemagic
      @crafthousemagic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have used normal sewing thread. You can use it but the finished work does not lie as stiff without starching as the proper thread. I have never used embroidery floss. I don't suppose it is much different from the sewing thread. great for practising though x

    Hello. I've decided to try this again as I made it at school, 30 years ago. It seems familiar but looking at other youtubers videos everyone seems to have a slightly different way of doing the same thing. Yours however looks the simplest so I'll have a go. Will you be doing more lace tutorials?

    • @crafthousemagic
      @crafthousemagic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just have the basics I am afraid. Whole stitch and half stitch x

    Please can you tell me if you can do bobbin lace work making letters of the alphabet?

    • @crafthousemagic
      @crafthousemagic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lisa Jarvis yes, I have seen patterns for letters of the alphabet, but I have never made any myself x

  • @sisterkerry
    @sisterkerry 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some say you should "clothe the pin". The pattern calls for another cloth stitch to be worked after the pin is is inserted using the same four last bobbins. This has made me really confused, because it is exactly the same as moving back across the work. Once you have inserted the pin and made a whole stitch the two worker bobbins have begun their journey...I am completely stuck, could you advise me please?

    • @crafthousemagic
      @crafthousemagic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am a little rusty with my bobbin lace as I haven’t worked on it in a while. But I think you literally just work the same stitch twice. You might find Jenny Brandis tutorials useful here on TH-cam. She knows much more than me x x

      I'm glad you commented. I thought they were saying 'close the pin'. Nice to learn it's, 'clothe the pin'.

      I am afraid I don't have any fish patterns and I am not confident posting a tutorial on something I have not made before in bobbin lace, I hope you find one x
