I have been using mine for about 2 weeks now and love it. I used the Axis for 3-1/2 months with great success and I like this one as well if not better. I didn’t have any trouble adjusting the cord to accept 13 cards and IDs but I was used to adjusting the nylon straps on the Axis so that probably helped. I don’t even notice carrying it in my front pocket. Cards come out and go back in smoothly and are held securely by that latching system I cannot stop playing with.
Great review! I love how energetic you are in these vids and how comfortable you've gotten in front of the camera! the editing is also always improving. well done you guys :)
Have one of these as well as the original (and an axis, summit, and ascent). I really like this one, the metal clasp is surprisingly satisfying to clasp on and off fidget like. Might be my 2nd favorite wallet to carry.
@@walletopia Still going strong with the Frenchie Mini - have not found anything close that comes to beating it in terms of nice small minimal carry that handles bills without folding. I've switched to my others for a change here and there but usually doesn't last long. Oh - do you have a grip6 wallet in your backlog for reviews? Would LOVE to see that :)
I really do like the Frenchie Mini, they hit the mark with that. YES, we do have the Grip6 😀. I was part of the Kickstarter campaign and received it a month or so back. I finished the outlined on it this week so it should publish in a month or so.
@@walletopia cool that was a neat concept. I was tempted, but didn't pull the trigger. I never say I'm done with wallets, but it will take something special to get me move off my Frenchie... And if something does, it will probably be because of one of your reviews!
Nice review! I have an original 1.0 and an axis, both blue, both impulse buys and both unused still in the bags. I got as far as putting cards in the them but never carried. Just didn't care for them. I frequently do stupid things like that.
😂. nah, I'd call that "intuition" and "you just weren't feeling it." I have buyers remorse all the time...I tend to buy things before really thinking it through...too much ADD.
great video. love the wallet but ya i have that wallet but i found it took time to loosen the power cord and shimmy it bit by bit through each hole to expand the wallet to correct size or change size thickness..
@@walletopia ya thanks for that. same here. good to know I wasn't only one..lol but its a great wallet...so light and strong...and i like the cards wont fall or slip out like the other card wallets that have a push lever on bottom.
I love this wallet. So minimum in carry. But had my chip card on the top layer and kept breaking the card and wearing the chip down so it would work anymore. I kept my wallet. Loose and not super tight.
I wonder if a piece of clear lamination film like you'd put on a photo would work to line the insides of the metal plates. It's thin and has built-in adhesive. Cutouts could be easily accomplished with an x-acto knife.
Hi, I’ve been looking for a slim wallet that can fit 12 cards and 15 cash. I’ve been watching reviews of the Trayvax Contour but I think it will not fit to my needs. Do you have any recommendations? Currently, I have the Maxpedition Spartan Wallet. I liked it but it’s kinda big.
The Paracord is not only to secure the cards but is also to locate it easy in your pocket and pull it out ...! It’s a nice simple wallet plus it is RFID
I ordered an Original 2.0 yesterday, in blue. They are no longer $29.99. They are now $34.99. The G20 version is $10 more than the aluminum version. Thing is my order is coming with a free, promotional, Trayvax Summit wallet ($35 value). Don't know if it will work out or not, but I'm going to put some clear, lamination film on the inside of the front plate, to hopefully avoid scratching the top card surface or chip. They're typically peel and stick, and I can cut out the ID window and paracord holes with an x-acto knife.
As the paracord crosses each corner at a 45, you can unleash the “keeper” and slide a card outside the top plate. The cord catches it at each corner. I keep my driver or fishing license in this spot. Yeah you have to remove it to expose the “thumbing” window. Minor inconvenience. Enjoyed the review...fair shake.
My favorite wallet takes a beating and easy to handle. The ID/ thumb window makes it easy to get to the cards in the middle. You are right about leaving your ID in the wallet and being asked to remove it but you can just slide it under the Paracord on the front once you open the clasp . It will show the whole ID. This works great if you have to show your ID often . Had the Dango C001 civilian wallet and this outshines it. Thanks for reviewing this wallet this will prove to a friend this is a worth while wallet.
Hey Mark Do you think you could pick up a dripPRESSo ? Or alternatively the Prairie PRESSo Both are Japanese made in Japan with the latter being cordovan and the former being full-grain but I’m unsure of the tannery It was Kickstarted on Japanese equivalent of Kickstarter
Nice wallet. Would have been much cooler if the tension of top lanyard tightened the two plates together. After the dango m1, I’m done with metal wallets though. They’re too stiff and uncomfortable in your pocket.
Hey walletopia love the vids! I found an interesting wallet for you to review called the techlead wallet. It’s designed by a millionaire and you might find it fun to look into. The guy is funny and the wallet design is thin and minimalistic. If not, still a fan subbed for a while now!
I have one and I love it and the price is perfect. The wallet is good but c'mon Trayvax, a zip lock presentation. Even a cheap $15 wallet presented in a box or something. btw you forgot to mention that outside of that zip lock has a sticker "Built By" I guess the name of that person who process your order or built it.
What always bothers me about this kind of minimalist wallet is the external money clip. I tried and I just can't stand touching cash every time I take wallet in hand. I almost bought the same one and I am glad that I did not. I need wallets that hide the cash.. I looked into Axis model that is the only one that one can put cash inside and hide it. What do you guys think? Am the only one that way?
iGo I’m not personally like that, but I understand. Cash isn’t very clean and it’d make sense to avoid touching it if you felt that way. I personally have a wallet on my phone cause I only carry 2 card, and ID and a debit card with cash
Very true if you're in a state that allows that. All the states I've been in (6) have always required me to take my license out of the wallet even though they can see it.
@@walletopia True, and then you have the Ascent, which I think is a beautiful wallet. The only negative is the lack of real cash carry, but that's true of almost every minimalist wallet, unfortunately.
The Contour is my favorite, but the Ascent really speaks to me with rugged simplicity. The heft of the metal, being the foundation for the wallet, just feels good in your hands. And I agree, no minimalist wallet really handles cash well unless they start getting into a wrap configuration
@@Richard_Barnes Ah yes, it's something I wish TH-cam could create options in the video upload so viewers can decide if they want background music or not.

Thanks for noticing! Time and repetition help. 😀
This wallet is amazing !!! I ve been using for hiking and most of my outside activities ! I strongly recommend !
Its a fantastic piece of kit, its bomb proof 😎👍
I also took the paracord off it and replaced it with paracord with the inner strands removed to make it flatter.
The only thing bad about metal wallet reviews is the lack of Mark's signature leather whiff smell test 😀
Sadly you're right 😂

It certainly can so if that an issue your dummy card is the right solution.
