Everybody always doesn’t mention the part about the springs getting tangled, I was so confused the first time I bag lubed, thank you for mentioning that, beginners need to hear so they don’t learn the hard way.
You can make cherry profile keycaps work with north facing switches by hole punching semi thick paper and evenly pushing it down the stem hole of the keycaps. The paper will act as a spacer giving the keycaps enough room to press without the interference issues. The paper can easily be removed aswell with needle tweezers. This simple technique literally saved my build, now I can use high quality keycaps and still get great sound out of them.
@@HipyoTech the interference issue is caused by like less than a millimeter of space, after putting the spacers there isn’t a noticeable increase in overall height. It %100 works for me, and I haven’t seen anyone else do this method. Easily the most simple and easy mod for such a huge issue in this community. I used a leather hole puncher for a smaller hole, but I just assume most people have a hole puncher and not a leather hole puncher.
I really enjoy the Idobao videos because I want to get into the hobby, and it seems like a nice affordable option :D I like how you said having north facing LEDs isn't an end all for the board, and suggested other options than Cherry for it :)
Great overview and camerawork as always. I love my Cherry short bois, but my new favorite profile is MT3 - nice and tall like these. When I do want to use the Cherry caps, though - I might just go for a switch that won't interfere with them, like any of Kailh's Box Silent switches, Archon's Art Box versions, or the upcoming Box Creams. A few other switches have housings that will clear, but they are less obvious and I've yet to make a list.
Great video man. I hope to build my first keyboard soon once I get some free time. I’ve been using a Razer Blackwidow for a few years now because at the time I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a keyboarding community or anything lol.
OMG the sound after lubing is music to my ears. I JUST got into mechanical keyboards after having to choose a keyboard and mouse for a desktop i have. My biggest regret is not doing more research before just buying any old keyboard. I had no idea how huge the hobby was, or how amazing the boards can sound. Mine in comparison sounds, well, like the $50 I paid for it lol. Not hot swapable, no true RGB, just set rainbow colour... and the stabilizers.... ouch. But being low income, this is as good as its going to get for a long while. I simply cannot justify buying a new, much more expensive board because it sounds and feels better lol. Though i do wish. Anyways i enjoyed the video :)
I saw that "stem holder"... That's like the refillable pencil I have somewhere in one of my drawers. I could use that for this purpose too. Here it was common in the 1980-90's.
If anyone is buying this keyboard they should use non cherry profile keycaps like the Drop Skylight sets that are good quality for shine through keycaps.
CHALLENGE: Take 1 shot for every time the word "Lube" is mentioned. Great video, as a newer entry to the custom keyboard builder club this was very informative. I am still in the very early stages of piecing together a kb, trying to settle on form (full/88/61) first as I am all over the place as far as use goes.
Those lube line though Looked like you were about to snort the bahjeesus out of them!!! lol I may try this keeb and compare it with Drop alt High Profile Good vid!
This sound so beautiful and the keycaps looks pretty 💞 and I wanna ask is these keycaps good for typing like a 9 hour typing? Thanks..im newbee to this world thanks
Have you seen the classic anime Fist of the North Facing LED? It’s about the heroic tale of Kenswitcho as he maneuvers the post-apocalyptic world as the heir of the Hokuto Switchken school of martial arts. He can defeat an enemy by hitting several of their hidden pressure points and listening for hollowness. He was really famous for saying “Omae wa mou, shindeiru,” which translates to “you are objectively wrong.” It’s a pretty cool show, you should check it out.
Do you might know when I can get one of those keyboards? 😊 I don’t care about north or south facing LED’s, as I am not going to use them anyway. I just want to get my first kinda custom keyboard and like the simple look and form factor. At first I wanted to get the id80 but this id67 form factor seems more convenient to me. Please excuse any spelling mistakes as English is not my first language. Keep up the great work, your videos really helped me deciding on what I want! Cheers! 😊
In a review of the Boba U4T's I saw that the travel on them is a bit shorter due to the long pole that they have, so they stop a bit sooner. In theory, you could use those switches (if you don't mind tactile) to circumvent the interfering.
first time lubing my switches a few hours ago. i was lubing my stock gateron red switches that came with my keychron k4 for 5 hours ish, lubed more or less 100 switch
I love the color scheme of those keycaps. but the profile I'm not sure about. it is growing on me but I don't think I'm entirely ready to put them on my keyboard just yet. I would like that set in the OEM profile.
there is a foam (which I am not sure if you already have it) that goes between the pcb and the case it used to be available on their website but now you can only find it on their aliexpress shop
Have a question, I have a razor 60 with the red optical lin switches and I like the feel. I also have a glourious 60%. For the glorious what would you recommend between gateron and thr kails, and which would feel like the red razor lin in the mini? Or any other switch you would recommend for bc I am new to this.
i just have a question, Im getting the Kemove 61 snow fox and I was wondering, if i switched out the keycaps, can I just get any double shot keycap, or do have to get specific ones for the keyboard

Please don’t eat the keycaps
I'm excited to see what you did with this
sounds so good! I can't believe that I actually made it to the premiere, instead of being 7 hours late.

I remember when I thought you just pulled them apart and ruined springs 😭
@@HipyoTech I yeah I messed up one spring once
Sounds great with the mods! I feel the Durock L4s are underrated, and with lube and film, they become pretty amazing!
Right! Everyone hypes up the recolors but forgets the roots!
