      It's only available now Darren through messenger..Some have had problems making and not making it correctly and that is definitely not something i want on me channel. I have the reputation of making things simple to make with nice easy steps..I was getting abusive comments from some that i decided to take it down..I've used it for years and has served me well and others who have used it..Makes my life just a wee bit easier..Cheers pal

    Hi Alex, was looking for the link for the curry paste but see you removed it & only available through messenger. Is this something that is still available?
    Recipes are spot on keep up the good work 👍🏼

      It’s difficult to make if not made correctly . I took it down for that reason. I don’t want anything that complicated on the channel and this was one of them.I’ve been debating now for a while to come up with something a lot easier. When you’re dealing with large amounts then it can get messy. It’s more skill than anything else and having everything prepped correctly. Butter, flour, veg , oil and spices is how we make it in Glasgow. I’ll try and get my head round about it this week and see what I can come up with. It will be a much smaller version, that will make it a lot easier. I’m sitting here with all the knowledge after watching them making it for years but it’s the scaling down for home use that’s difficult . It has to taste like our version in Glasgow, I wouldn’t try any other recipe . It’s what I’m use too . They make about ten ton of the stuff but you watch what they add and then you say to yourself jeez, how will I tackle this but don’t worry I will. Cheers mate.

    Excellent combo young man. Think you should bring a bit of happiness this year and deliver a quality recipe using Colman's OK sauce, the lack of recipes on the Internet and TH-cam is mind blowing. It's a key ingredient for my sweet and sour (taken from the curry recipes online forum), with a couple of added haw flakes sweets.

      Sounds good John i;ve seen it in my local Asian store but haven't a clue how to use it..I've never seen it on any of the menus in Glasgow but i know for a fact it's more popular in England..Now that you've mentioned it i'm now intrigued. I need to check it out and see what i can come up with..Thanks John..

    What chilli oil is it, lee kum kee chilli oil would you get away with powder or flakes ?

    • @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex
      @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex  ปีที่แล้ว

      Any decent chilli oil will do or to spice it up you can use powder or chilli flakes.Chilli flakes are widely used in takeaways so I go with them .I’ve actually ran out of the one I use but the labelling is all in Chinese so can’t remember exactly what it’s called but I find it’s the best.I’m heading out today for more supplies and will pick one up today. The one I use is far better tasting than Lee Kum Kee just wish I could remember the name of it ,cheers Barry

    Alex,
    can you freeze the paste? I know in your paste video notes you said it keeps for ages but would freezing ruin it?
    Cheers

    • @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex
      @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If stored in airtight container it would normally last for at least a year.Paste has never known to be frozen Kev but you could try it..I've only made it once.For a quick fix i just make use Mayflower curry powder..I've tried every ready made bought paste on the planet Kev and really don't like any..Mayflower is ok but not a patch on the real stuff.Some will say it's just like out a takeaway,if that's the case then takeaway they get their curry from must use Mayflower other than that to me it's nowhere close,cheers Kev.

    Hello Alex ! Love your videos. As someone living abroad and missing these Dishes It was amazing to find your channel. Would you by any chance do a video or know how to make an Irish style Spice Bag ? Its similar to Salty and Pepper Chicken but its with Chips too.

    • @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex
      @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Andreas i appreciate that.I've never been to Ireland but i'm assuming the spice bag is just take on our own version of a Salt and pepper munchy box.Spicy chips and chicken.It's probably exactly what we sell up in Glasgow but just named differently and comes in a bag.My own channel is full of salt and pepper dishes you might be able to find something that might suit Andreas,thanks pal.

    Where do you buy the Malaysian curry powder..? with the mild madras curry powder (got this delivered today) - do i still need to add the turmeric for the paste?

    • @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex
      @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael .I buy the curry powder from my local Asian store..There are so many brands of Malaysian curry powder in the same way as there are many brands of Indian curry powder and takeaways all have their favourites..They don't all use Eastern star,it's just another brand name which is Malaysian.Turmeric is mainly for colour and you don't really need to use it.Most takeaways i've worked just use the curry powder only It's entirely up to yourself Michael but you don't need much or it can be overpowering. Thanks pal.

    David your Chinese recipe are truly somewhat authentic. But in reality, nowadays owners and chefs are fugal with ingredients as rising cost are sky high. Therefore the quality may not be the same anymore as yesteryear. Don’t get me wrong, your cooking is absolutely first class. Keep up the good work 👍

    hi alex what can i use instead of MSG please

    • @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex
      @ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just leave it out stephen there's enough MSG that are included in the the other condiments..Soya sauce,oyster sauce all have it and just about every other Chinese condiment..Chinese use it in abundance,it's pretty hard to escape..I also use aromat seasoning and chicken powder that i've use in other dishes instead of MSG but the downside is they also contain MSG..I bought a lot of groceries from Morrisons yesterday and was shocked with the amount of MSG on the packaging..It's not listed as MSG but food enhancer E621..Always check the ingredients when you buy anything Steve just incase it's included if you have an allergy,thankfully i've not..I'm 65 and been eating Chinese since i was 16 but so far no problems..Take care Stephen.
