it is one of a kind cinema in a long time. Banga is very courageous and didn’t care for anyone and brought soft porn into the theater. Earlier porn had to be watched secretly at home. Now you can watch porn together with your family. And that was achieved by Banga. Banga has brought brilliant violence in films. He has copied all best scenes from different directors and boldly stitched it together that no one has ever done before. Earlier people would secretly watch isis beheading videos online on their phones before it was taken down, but now you can come to theater with friends and cheer at beheadings. Banga has done a phenomenal job. It is truly path breaking. I hope he makes more path breaking soft porn for our Indian audience.
Also he should consider acting in the movies as well, because ram Gopal Verma has opened a TH-cam channel and making soft porn videos and starring in them as well. Why not Banga. Banga could bring that to big screens. Hopefully a good soft porn movie is made of Ranbir and Banga. Where there is love and war. Sex and beheading. Who would win. I think that would be a banger 🔥🔥🔥

I personally don't care for Dhruv and instead subscribe to Bajpayee's stance about not curbing speech and (artistic) expression for the most part. But there is a big argument to make about normalizing certain behaviour in media & pop culture (Elvish & others) and effects that it has on our janta. What do you think happens when people explore these things through movies and "game mechanics" and get a taste for it? Sure, you, I and thousands in your audience didn't. Yes i think you're right. Like a few days ago, a cross dresser from Ujjain named Priyanshu ( if i remember it correctly ) took his life and many or say most people are feeling proud on themselves because of them a person from LGBT community took his life. They think they're saving India from being woke. I am 100% sure those people are not getting these kinds of inspiration from movies. And they have no intention of killing anyone with their own hands. It shows that movies not play a big part in it. It's the people in power who manipulate the mind of young adults and also adults. But I disagree on some points. One point is that yes they don't harm people but dont you think if people don't call out these producers, directors and script writers and they started producing only this kind of movie, then it will harm people?? And the other is that you gave the example of your experience that how you saw a group of friend call out their friend for wrong motives but what about who just watch movies and observe the bad intentions of it. Many youth nowadays go to watch movies and they have not much idea of the world, aren't these movies just as bad as Andrew Tate's opinions. I'm not agreeing with Dhruv but our most loveable movies says a lit about us. And despite of many good movies like English Vinglish, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Badhaai do, Chandigarh kare Aashiqui, Rashmi rocket and etc. there are only violent movies securing all top 10 spots in India. Like really violent movies has also good endings but in animal there isn't any good ending of realisation?
These are just few questions I'm unable to understand. I just want answers on how to tackle that?? Is it even a problem or not????

Everyone watches movies to get entertained or in simple words to forget the tension or struggles one has in their life. Now if people will be given two option 1. A relatable movie which showcases one's stuggles in studies/work/relationship 2.A movie where protagonists is in a quest to fight his foes and rescue his lover.
Most people will choose the latter because it gives us a chance to escape reality.
2nd one reminds of my struggles and people don't want to pity themselves while trying to get entertained.
So most people often choose frictional masala movies.
Only movie which shows struggles while giving people a chance to escape reality is 3 idiots. And dont forget there are frequent jokes even in serious scenes.
Movies aren't documentries. Masses don't watch documentries so the more a relatable movie is raw the less audience it will have.

@@kumaraditya9161 Yes many people watch these movies as a source of entertainment but it doesn't apply to all. In India only, a serial killer when arrested, said that he was inspired by movies, will you going to ignore the slight consequences movies do on one's life. Many people who work are use it as entertainment purpose but there are people who just have no work and only watches movies or if they have a smartphone then they waste all of their time in those things. I'm from a village in Bihar and have seen many teens who don't do anything but roam here and there. Although people in Urban areas are more open minded ( even though it's not ), the village areas, where education is one of the biggest problem is far more conservatives in these topics and these kind of film only appreciate their thought.

I loved the first half of the movie. Absolutely gripping and entertaining.
Problem starts with the second half for me. Vanga as an editor is not able to be objective about his product and wants to keep everything in the film which derails the tension established by interval.
    Pros:
    - BGM and songs. Vanga's choice of BGM is comparable to what directors like Nolan or Scorsese show in their movies
    - Acting. It's Ranbir's best performance, equal (or even greater) than Rockstar and the other cast has acted really well
    - Editing choices for the first half. Non linearity and unconventional ways of introducing characters (especially Bobby's intro)
    - Punjabi community representation. I had goosebumps in the scene where Ranbir's character gathers his tabbar
    Cons
    - Father son relationship not explored enough imo.
    - Dialogues. The dialogues are completely stupid and misogynistic (yes they are). I don't think even Alphas talk that way. Or the part where Ranbir's character is dismissing the doctors who are treating him with hardcore biology stuff. In Kabir Singh, this made way more sense as the characters were from medical background but here, how tf is an aeronautical engineer able to talk this way
    - Bobby Deol's role
    - Tripti Dimri's subplot felt way too long and lazy writing. I get that he wanted to set up her character for Animal Park but i believe a movie should be complete in itself and not indulge in setting up characters for future installments. this was a major problem with Batman v superman where instead of exploring the ideological differences between the heroes, it resolved with a simple "Save martha" and was more involved in setting up justice league. Here also, tripti's character just revealing the person behind the assassination did not sit well with me. I was hoping Ranbir's character would also try to use his brains and resources to find out who did this
    - All the family history revealed by dadaji in one conversation is again lazy writing.
    - lack of consequences for ranbir's character

    • @somnathbanerjee_2922

Cons 2nd point. Alphas don't talk like that neither meaning of Alpha is that but the director wants to show that according to that character's defination, this is the meaning of Alpha and it was Misogynistic purposely because that's what is the mindset of that character.

I have no issue with the films are art and art is creative and has creative freedom. For Vangas statements, dhruvs take on it seems understated. If something is 90% true, it can be called general because nothing is ever 100%. World is about balance and he played his part, just as vanga is mocking critics for being "Uneducated", "unaware". it is one of a kind cinema in a long time.

Okay, so I get that characters with flaws can make a story interesting. But here's my take: the movie's plot and character growth just didn't hit the mark for me. The father-son thing started off cool but then got buried under too much action and unfair treatment of women, which really took away from the deeper parts of the story. Sandeep Vanga has shown some real talent, like in that awesome 'Main Papa aur aap Beta' scene. But overall, the story didn't pull me in enough to really feel those big moments.
And about the female characters - it's not just the misogyny that's the issue. They just didn't have much substance or their own drive, you know? They felt like they were just there, not really adding much to the story. This goes for the 'Tabbar' crew too. They were kind of just there, not really feeling like a real part of the main guy's family.
The villains, other than Bobby Deol's character, were pretty cookie-cutter too. There was this mute bad guy, which could have been super interesting, but they didn't do much with him.
Also, the movie had a lot of violence, but it was more about quantity than quality. There wasn't much in terms of cool fight scenes or emotional depth. A movie needs more than just action - it needs a story that grabs you. This film missed that mark for me.
So, in short, it's not the controversial stuff in the film that bugs me. It's more about how the story was told and how the characters were developed. The movie had potential, but the way it was put together just didn't work out

Surely, the few dialogues in the movie were problematic and I don't resonate with stance of Vanga on Masculinity and Toxic Relationships. But we should not forget that he's a good director, the storyline, character development, background score, action/fight sequences and dynamics shown are rare to be seen in Bollywood movies nowadays (that's why more and more people are switching to OTT than watching mainstream bollywood). The whole 3 hours of the movie was a pleasure to watch especially the last seen between Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor and we shouldn't reduce the entire movie to just ideologies and dialogues. The movie got rewarded not because of it's problematic stance but because it was a good cinema overall.

having a misogynistic mind to to hit a woman and satisfying that part of your brain thru a movie because you cant do that in real life is problem IMO. Feeding your brain extreme violent from game wont make you actual gangster, true but the country we live in is already very misogynistic and such movies feeds that narrative. violence is a criminal offense but not misogyny understand that after watching a movie a guy won't go out with a machine gun but can ask his gf or wife to lick his shoes to prove her love

Rusty bhai although I like and appreciate your argument that you compare this movie with the video game analogy. Do you know there was a strong discourse on the internet when Metaverse first became available for commoners and a few people said bad words to women avatars in the Metaverse who were real women, groped them, harassed them and the women felt the same as they would have felt in real life. So I don't think saying I can't do it in real life, so I do it in a video game/feel it in movies is a good argument.

sandeep vanga has the capability to play with viewers emotions(even though his own personality might be controversial)
I remember not being able to get kabir singh out of my head for 4 days(partly due to soundtrack) even though movie was above avg to good at best
this movie's quality objectively is lower than that of kabir singh but some sensitive emotions were still explored, especially the final scene between rk and ak, vijay still failing to get acknowledged
its again been 4 days and movies like this, although not the best, will become cult classics in future

it is one of a kind cinema in a long time.

Reasons why i disagree with animal movie-
3 common points which is given the most by people are-
" i) Art ka point hai Samaaj hila de
ii) Movie me sab kuch right/moral nahi dikha sakte
iii) Esi movies hamare ideas ko challenge krne ke liye banti hai"
    My Opinion -
    i) Art ka point samaj hilana nahi hai, art ka point hai depth provide karna audience ko, jo humari understanding me depth le aay, naa ki aur shallow karde, and animal hamari thinking ko aur shallow karta hai.
ii) Sabkuch right nhi dikha skte movie me, i agree, but wrong bhi dikhane ka ek tarika hona chahiye, for eg- if it's a 2hrs movie, uska 1st half ekdam violent, dark dikhao jo cool bhi lage audience ko, but then 2nd half jis intensity se 1st half ko glorify kara hai ussi intensity se 2nd half ko bhi dikhaao, ki uske dark actions ki repercussions kya hue, aur galat kaam karna actually me kyu galat hai isse 2nd half me dikhaao properly, animal ne puri movie me negative cheezon ko glorify krke dikahya and uske repercussions ko na hi utna screen time diya naa hi utne intensity se dikhaya, Udta Panjab is a good example jisne dono half ko achhe se dikhaya
iii) Ese movies hamari opinion ko challenge krne ke liye hai, i disagree, because mostly log esi movies ko challenging of ideas ke perspective se nahi, entertainment ke nazar se dekhte hain, aur 300Cr+ movie kama jaati hai, esi movies flop honi chahiye naa ki hit
And about ki ye movie realism and relatability se naata nhi rkhti, isiliye it doesn't matter ka logic nahi chalega, because ese kaafi scenes hai movie mai jinhe glorify krke negative messages dikhaay hain joki actually me subtle changes kar skte hain hamari thinking mai.
    That's all.

Okay let me simplify this for you -
    1) when you say cinema doesn’t inspire society - in a country like India where couples’ sui*^de rate increases after Ek duje ke liye, when Rang de basanti inspires youth to join Anna movement, when 3 Idiots makes people follow their passion, you cant ignore the impact cinema has on indian society
    2) i am not against displaying toxic masculinity in movies, i am sad that the audience is not finding that toxic masculinity discomforting. The example you gave when that guy’s friends abused him, is a very rare case. Most people who liked the movie celebrated the misogyny and instead got validation for their toxic masculinity. Now if you see a society regressing do you really want to not criticise a director who is propelling the regressive thinking?
Javed Akhtar very nicely summarised the argument. Choli ke piche kya hai banane wale 8 log the. Vo 8 logo se mujhe problem nahi hai, vo bohot kam hai. Problem mujhe unn crores logo se hai jinhone iss gaane ko hit banaya. Uss society se hai jo esi ban chuki hai. Aur haa 8 logo ko bhi criticise karna chahiye taaki atleast 8 mein se 2-3 toh agli baar yeh regressive thinking mein contribute naa kare

People need to have common sense to take entertainment as entertainment. The film has been certified adults only for a reason, Ranbir gave a warning for a reason, despite that if you wanna spend money, watch the 3hr long film and then rant out about how "violent and problematic" the film is, the problem lies with you.
