As a person who took the training for beauty pageants from a reputed institute, i can tell you its true. cosmetic surgery is very common even before applying we were told to do this or else we wont be allowed to participate. We were told if asked what is beauty, say beauty lies inside. then next day i was told i need botox and fillers. throughout the training i was depressed bcz i felt i am ugly but thankfully i didnt have money so i didnt do anything. They made the girls winner who were of perfect shape for modelling., even though in the final round they were asking general knowledge questions which those girls couldnt even answer. These pageants are not about empowerment at all, these are platforms for modelling only, nothing else. And nowadays its all business, the cosmetic surgery doctors are funding the institutes and pageants and then forcing girls to do those procedures. Thats y everyone looks same.

You can take a training if you have no experience.

Since last few years global beauty pageants has actually brought a lot of changes to promote inclusivity. At the 72 Miss Universe we got to see Miss Nepal as the first plus size contestant, Miss Netharlands and Miss portugal as Transgender representative, Miss Pakistan representing her country with fully covered clothes even in the swimsuit round . I think you've misunderstood Aishwarya Rai's impact and significance. Aishwarya is one of the most successful Indian celebrities globally, even if she's not as visible to Gen Z today. She never craved attention, yet she achieved milestones that many can only dream of: the first Indian woman on the Cannes jury, a statue in Madame Tussauds, the Order of Arts and Letters, and being named one of Time's most influential people. She’s been celebrated at the Oscars, Berlin film festival, Amfar, and even on shows like Oprah, David Letterman, and Tyra Banks.
PC, Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt were all once called by her name by the papz in US showing just how much of a benchmark she set. She even turned down a role in *Troy*-a film that could have led to an Oscar nomination-because she didn’t want to compromise her values, reflecting the mindset of Indian society at that time. Aishwarya paved the way for many, long before social media could amplify a person's fame. If Instagram, TH-cam, Twitter, or Facebook had been around during her peak, she would have been everywhere. Yes, she’s aged and stepped back, but don’t belittle her accomplishments by saying she’s not successful. She’s recognized worldwide, and she deserves the respect she’s earned. Aishwarya doesn’t need a Hollywood husband or a flashy house tour to stay relevant-her legacy speaks volumes all on its own.

As long as someone is insecure about his or her looks people will make a business out of their insecurities. Modelling, pageants, acting etc cater to certain kinds of people and those people are businessmen. They will use models and stars to sell you products it's up to you if you fall into their trap or not.
Like no advocate will want people to sort out their issues and reconcile, an advocate’s benefit lies in broken marriages, similarly no pageant, movie makers will ever want you to feel safe and confident in your skin. You can’t expect others to change but you’ll have to change from within so that these advertisements and glamour don’t affect you.

You have no idea about how a beauty pageant works. It's true that you need grooming but it's important because you can't just choose any random person and make them the winner as these winners become the brand ambassador of the pageant. Just like in a job interview, you are going to be put your best foot forward to get that job. Then why not here? And in reputed pageants like miss world and miss universe, they also notice your personality, grace, speaking skills, aura etc because at these winners are called 'queens' and a queen needs to be perfect at everything they do. Also beauty pageants are sponsored by big fashion brands and labels. Why would they choose anyone who isn't groomed well because they will have to work with those brands. Being yourself doesn't mean that you devoid yourself from being the better version of yourself.

i agree, these pageants setting or even merely abiding by the 'conventional beauty standards' play a big part in triggering complexes and eating disorders. when there is a set criteria of what is 'desirable' how can it not make others who don't fit in feel excluded?

My initial teenage years was shaped from beauty pageants only. Padhai me hm thik hi the but kbhi bhi usko serious lia hi nhi tha but gladly my parents were villagers so unhe ye sb samajh hi nahi aata tha aur wo hmesha hmko padhai k liye push krte the. After 10th jb hmse pucha kya lena h to i didn't knew kyuki hmko to miss universe ban na tha, unhone bola neet ka preparation krne to hm bhi science le liye ye sochke ki hmko to 18 hote h miss india me participate krne h. But ab neet ki preparation bina padhe nahi ho skti thi aur yahi padhte padhte i found it interesting specially maths and gradually pageants ka bhoot mere sar se utra aur since then I'm relaxed. No pressure of perfect English, fabricated answers, high heels, maintaining social media(infact 4 years without it and it's a relief), maintaining fake images among so called mentors, behaving all so delicate fearing scars on body (learnt bike riding and played cricket afterwards as well), i just felt more liberated and currently pursuing bsc in mathematics (didn't had maths in +2 so couldn't prepare for engineering) and preparing for iit jam sideways.

Also, I don't get their tagline, "Beauty with a Purpose" Like one does not have to be beautiful to change the world or do social work or show Kindness and if it is really about that then why the swim suit round , photoshoot round and stuff.

    • @Sailor11264
      @Sailor11264 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

The tagline you mentioned is of Miss World. It's been more than a decade that the Miss World Organisation has removed the swimsuit round. The Miss World has now evolved more like a women's summit to discuss on social subjects which the Miss World delegates have been working on. Every delegate participating for the Miss World competition are assigned to work on social projects before they arrive for the competition. The 2024 Miss World winner from Czech Republic have been working on her project/advocacy for more than 2 years, even before she was crowned Miss Czech Republic. On the other side, the Miss Universe pageant has also undergone many changes transitioning from the conventional system to a new era of inclusivity. The Miss Universe organisation now allows unmarried/married/divorcee/transwomen to participate, stripped off the height requirements, physical statistics and age. And all girls don't go through surgeries or botox or any kind of body enhancement techniques to enter the pageant or post the pageant. There are girls who do it, but if it makes them comfortable, then let it be in how they look.
Film stars are also like them. They do kindness acts because they have the status to reach the mass. Likewise, beauty pageants like the Miss World and Miss Universe are organisations where they look for an ambassador to be given the title, who will advocate their cause and at the same time work on the social cause of the winner during her reign.
Empowering society by the beauty pageant winners is by becoming a spokesperson. To educate and spread awareness on social problems relevant to the region.
Every individual is beautiful/handsome in their own way. Wearing make up or taking care of yourself to look presentable in social events is called grooming and not just to portray what many critics would say 'beauty standards'.

HALF KNOWLEDGE IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!!! Now let me clear few of your misunderstandings.
    1. There is a difference between Modelling & Beauty Pageants. There is no rule in beauty pageants to have a specific measurement for any body parts.
    2. Grooming is an important part of any field not just beauty pageants. In order to become a dancer you need grooming same goes for pageants. You can’t survive without proper training.
    3. You used a picture of Miss India 2019 winners where you said “all girls are tall & white” and irony is the winner herself is brown skinned. Many Miss Universe & Miss World winners are black in colour.
    4. Why did India’s performance deteriorated after 90s. This is because many other countries like Philippines, Japan and Latin countries became the new powerhouse at pageants. The representatives of India were not strong enough to compete with them.
    5. SWIMSUIT ROUNDS: It’s a round of confidence. There is no pressure in any BIG pageants on the contestants to wear bikini. It’s completely their choice. Recently Miss Universe Pakistan wore BURKINI instead of BIKINI during the swimsuit round and she was even selected for the further round.
    6. Business v/s empowerment : Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Supranational, Miss Earth all are working for the betterment of the society since ages. Our own Indian queens have worked for so many sociatal causes. Without any SOCIAL ADVOCACY you will not even place in such beauty pageant forget about winning.
    7. Communication: KEY OF THE CROWN!
    8. Small beauty pageants often involves dark crimes. But it doesn’t mean that all other Prestigious Beauty Pageants does the same.
THE FACTS YOU HAVE EXTRACTED are not entirely true! Atleast as a person who is related to pageant myself can tell you clearly.
You are a content creator and it’s your duty to throw light at various issues but do some proper research next time. If you are showing the negative side of any field then it’s also YOUR DUTY to show the positive side of the same.

Miss universe and Miss World and Miss India ka crown us lady ko Dena chahie …. Jisne sabse jada love kia ho inse( universe , world )aur sabse jada kaam kia hua ho inke lie …. So the age limit must be from 65 year of age onwards 😂. It’s true that only is true beauty whom universe and World actually loves back .
Just imagine if this happens 😅. Acchha Sochne me kya jata hai 😊
Ek 22 year old women is miss world this can only be the view of a young level and superficial man who is only able to look at women by her superficial body like face and figure . How can we even think that that women with good face and bums can be Miss world 🌍… it just looks rubbish but yeah me and you both actually watch it . That’s called as power of attention 😂….. west has cashed this word “ attention “ very wisely . They know how to get attention and get paid well. Good attempt 🙏

okay but there might be another reason which isn't beibg talked about. in 90s when aishwarya priyanka and sushmita won the titles their beauty was perfect for western AND Indian standards. But i feel winners these days fit more into the western beauty standards (which has also evolved over the years). Now western beauty standards are tanned skin, not necessarily skinny figure, a good bone structure (sometimes androgynous, which cn be perceived as masculine in India, take sobhita dhulipala for example)
these things don't match the current indian beauty standards, that is why these pagent winners aren't able to break into the commerical movie industry where you need to please the masses

Ever wondered why suddenly these pageants start to find indian girls beautiful? It's all to market beauty products in India because india is the biggest market.
