Awesome review! Maybe you can help me out with some clarifications (i'll write this in english, im romanian also). I'm in my last 60 meters before purchasing a new set of IEM. FYI, I'm coming from a Sony background (had over ear 1000XM2/3, wired MDR-1AM2, and now in ear XBA-1AP - wired ones always running through a dac - dragonfly red, btr3, now btr5). As you can see, I'm somewhat of a basshead, enjoy a warm sound and deep extended bass with quite a bit of rumble (but not muddy), and wide soundstage - 60-70% of the music I listen to is Techno, but I also listen to classic rock, soul and country from time to time. Since our lovely local store, AVStore, does not allow ANY kind of demoing, and does NOT accept returns on IEM, i'm in a very weird situation. Judging by my taste and budget, and the reviews I've read, I narrowed down my options to the Fiio FH7 and the Campfire Audio Polaris v2. My concerns are as following : Will i be missing out TOO much versatility for 30%of my non-techno music listening with the Polaris v2? Or, will I be missing out too much sub bass thunder and midbass power, as well as ear fatigue as I am kinda sensitive to bright sound signatures with the FH7 (and also, how much less bright does the bass filter and bass tips make the fh7?). Now, I assume you haven't listened to the Campfire Polaris, and the reason I'm so interested in them is the general consensus of strong bass spectrum with little to no bleed, excellent and smooth, non fatigueing highs, wide soundstage and last but not least, really nice design (vs FH7, this is subjective, however). I've also hears Techno music producer John Tejada really loving on them, saying things like these are the only iem that gave him true sub bass extension as in using a sub to extend (not increase) the bass extension, even more so than the Campfire Solaris (which cost 3x more). Also bear in mind that my home listening experience consists of 2x towers + a nicely integrated sub for sub bass extension. So i guess my queation is how good is the bass on the FH7 for techno music or bass heavy music and does it at any time give the impression that it lacks a bit of extra oomph (particularly on electronic music), AND how much of that brightness is diminished by the red filters and bass tips? 10x a bunch!
Hi Vadim, FH7 have an awesome bass extension, down to 20 Hz, measured by a MiniDSP EARS. The only downside of that headphone is the slight treble bump, but it is slight, I like it that way myself. The filters and ear-tips do make quite a difference and will alter the FR quite drastically, memory foam ones will tighten the bass and will roll-off some treble. Sorry, but I never tried any Campfire IEMs, can't say much about them.
Quad ERA-1, those are very fun to listen headphones with among the best bass in the business. Deep reaching, textured, clean and really engaging, love those HPs to death!
@@kingyogesh441 Nobody knows when that will happen, but a birdie told me another one should be ready by Christmas. Can't tell if it will have dual AK4499 either..
Soundnews sp 2000 is the only one confirmed with dual 4499 but that price tag is really not worth it specially without 4.4 balance output. I expect fiio’s flagship to have that configuration for under 1000 dollars
@@Soundnews when you hear these for yourself you won't believe the sound that comes out. I've got mine in a glass roofed conservatory and they are stunning.
I loved ie800s and disliked Andromeda. Do you think I'll like the fh7. I have gr07. I love it's really contrasty linear bass. Mids are okay, treble is passable (a little tizzy and unresolving).
You mean it's better then Skullcandy? Just kidding 😀 I have the exact same bias towards IEM's, that it can't sound as good as over year headphones, due to base response and soundstage. The FH7 should be winners then. Can't wait to get my hands on those for a test. I'm happy with my DM6 right now, but clearly FIIO upped his game a lot with this and the future sounds interesting. It should be a battle between FH7 and DM7. LUCKY NUMBER 7 😉
@@tomcruz7177 I never understood this "can't compare X to Y because different specs". Of course you can. Specs don't always tell the whole story. You listen and you pick the one that sounds the best, easy no? I know the difference and what beryllium does. Base is not the only thing to take in consideration.
Flavius for example, you compare them listening to a song that has a heavy bass guitar background.... the DM7 will not emphasize that part of the music but the FH7 will. Or, if you listen to a song with sparkling cymbals but with low end synth bass/heavy drums, you would not want sub bass to mid bass frequencies to overshadow the highs.. you may not like bass bleeding into certain frequencies, or like bass booming while highs soar.... so there is too many factors to take into consideration when trying to compare two different IEMS.... as Hawaiian bad boy says.... IMO.... if Fiio came out with a FA8 or a new upgrade from the FA7, then yeah you would be able to compare them as they would be all BAs. Hope you understand what I’m trying to say here. What you’re trying to say/allow is like comparing the Campfire Audio Atlas to the FiiO FA1, or the Empire Ears Legend X to the Final Audio Piano Forte X.
@@tomcruz7177 First thanks for your response. As I said before, not everyone is a basshead. Not everyone listens to dubstep or hip- hop, electronica, industrial all day long. Some prefer wide sound stage, crisp highs, detailed clear miss, less boom. I think you don't need beryllium for this. I mainly listen to extreme metal, do you think I need heavy bass on such congested tracks? I think not. Based on what you say everyone should just buy planars and not even take in consideration dynamic drivers or electrostatics. Of course you can't compare planars to electrostatics when it comes to bass response, but that's not the whole story! Some like LIVE classical music, some like drum& bass and they should choose according to their taste. Hope I explained well what my point was. I understood yours and you are right for mostly electronic music, but not for the whole spectrum. As Sandu says...let's be positive and enjoy our music 😉

@@kingyogesh441 I am a dreamer myself :) Hoping that will indeed happen
Excellent review, I have a pair and m11 on the way. KEF ls50 wireless in the background? What to you think of them ,I also have a pair😁
Yep, LS50W, I made a review for them some time ago, here it is: soundnews.net/speakers/active-speakers/kef-ls50w-vs-kef-ls50/
@@Soundnews when you hear these for yourself you won't believe the sound that comes out. I've got mine in a glass roofed conservatory and they are stunning.
Isnt it silver plated copper?
My bad, checked the net. It really is copper plated silver. Hmn...
I loved ie800s and disliked Andromeda. Do you think I'll like the fh7.
I have gr07. I love it's really contrasty linear bass. Mids are okay, treble is passable (a little tizzy and unresolving).
Didn't try the Andromeda, but listened to IE800s several times. Short version: FH7 is better, it has more of everything.
Nice job I put you up there with, bad guy good audio.
как они звучат?
Очень хорошо!
@@Soundnews где брал?)
Is it worth upgrading from FH5?
At 12:50 mark I made a comparison with FA7 and FH5. I think definitely is worth upgrading to FH7 if you have the cash
Fh9 sunt cu muuul superioare.
Nice ✊ !!!
There is no way a BA set can compete with a 13mm beryllium driver.. This may be the hybrid to get!
Can’t compare the FH7 to DM7...... way different sound signatures and audio setup...
As Sandu says...let's be positive and enjoy our music 😉
гуд обзор!
ive told my self u cant have them they look good enjoy the music
По русски говори, dont suffer, dont torture us, speak russian! Agree about Fiio they dont damage hearing and provide good sound quality
Hi Vladimir, English language as any other language has hundrerds of accents. Most Eastern european countries have a strong slavic accent in their English. Sorry to dissapoint, but I'm not russian 🙂
Are you chechen? Why u have chechen beard?
No..Wait what?!?
@@Soundnews google it. Its actually called a "very" salafi beard. Unless you follow the prophet to the LETTER, i suggest a full beard+mustache :)))
@@KTZ_86 The only prophet I follow is Odin and I sleep with 2 Kalashnikov's under my bed. I hope I'll pass the chechen test.
Great... Another expense incoming... LOL
FH7 are Amazing with metal...(because of great slam, sub-bass information, punchy and ballsy attitude, extended and detailed treble without being harsh) what more can I say :)
@@Soundnews I'm a die hard Black, Death Metal fan. I can't wait to be blown away :)
@@thegreatdisillusionist I know you are, I just watched some of your uploads, very cool ones. I listen to everything, including black, death, trash, but also classical, symphonic, opera, jazz and many others...I'm a mixed bag what can I say :)
how is this vs shure 846?Also do u need an Amp to connect this to?Have u tried them with 4.4 balance cable?getting the M11 and seeing what should be paired up,
SE846 have a muddy bass response with or without an amp, balanced or not, that is just my opinion. There is no contest FH7 trounces them of every aspect, even on their own game (BASS!).
@@Soundnews did use stock cables with fh7? or any other cables that improves audio?>
@@ContestOfNoobs I used the balanced 2.5mm cable from FiiO called LC2.5C - it is a SPC (silver plated copper) that expanded the soundstage compared to the stock cable. Check it out, I wouldn't pay more than that for a cable.
@@Soundnews 2.5 vs 4.4 cable? im interested in the new silver cables from fiio
@@ContestOfNoobs Both are the same. I have the 2.5mm one, soundwise both are identical, just a different hp connector.
